Bobbi Brown Sazan Nude, Bare, Angel Crushed Lip Colors Reviews & Swatches
Sazan Nude
Bobbi Brown Sazan Nude Crushed Lip Color ($29.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a light-medium beige with warmer undertones and a satin finish. It had medium coverage that was buildable to mostly opaque pigmentation in two layers, which was how the formula was designed. The lipstick had a lightweight, smooth, lightly waxy consistency that glided across my lips but never felt slippery or “wet” on. The color went on evenly and didn’t settle noticeably into my lip lines, just in the close-ups. It did seem to apply lighter than it appeared in the tube and swathed (triple checked that!). This shade wore well for three and a half hours and was non-drying.

Formula Overview
$29.00/0.11 oz. - $263.64 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "high color payoff" with a "blotted-down stain effect" that "glides on comfortably" and keeps lips "hydrated." It's also supposed to be long-wearing and is buildable from "blotted-down" in one layer to "intense color payoff" in two to three layers. The majority of the shades in the range have medium to semi-opaque coverage in one layer, and they were buildable from there with two to three layers. A few shades applied less evenly than others, though most went on well enough.
The consistency was more like a firmer, harder balm, as it glided easily across my lips, but it didn't feel wet, emollient, or oily, more waxy like a traditional lipstick but very lightweight. Some shades pulled into my lip lines and a few emphasized my natural lip texture, while others were more smoothing and flattering in finish/texture. The wear typically lasted between three and six hours with some of the richer/darker shades leaving subtle stains behind. The formula was more non-drying to lightly hydrating, but it wasn't hydrating enough that I'd put it in that category (hydrating lipstick). They had a faint, lemon-meets-wax scent that sometimes wasn't noticeable at all (depended on the shade).

Bare
Bobbi Brown Bare Crushed Lip Color ($29.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a soft brown with warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had buildable pigmentation from semi-sheer to semi-opaque (two layers). The texture felt smooth, thin, and lightweight with enough slip to glide across my lips–it felt firmer, waxier–and was comfortable to wear. The lipstick applied evenly and didn’t emphasize my lip texture, though there was a smidgen of product in my deeper lip lines but wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance. It wore well for four hours and was lightly hydrating on me.

Angel
Bobbi Brown Angel Crushed Lip Color ($29.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a medium, pink-coral with soft, warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had medium coverage that built up to mostly opaque coverage in two layers (as described). The consistency was smooth, firmer but not stiff to apply, and thinner without feeling clingy. I didn’t feel like it was the most flattering product on my lips, though, as it seemed to emphasize my lip texture in the close-up photos–it wasn’t noticeable in person, thankfully. The lipstick applied without tugging and stayed on well for four hours, while the formula felt a bit hydrating at most.

Christine, I think that “Bare” should be in the post’s title (instead of “Babe”). Curious about the rating for Babe though 🙂
So sorry, the review here is (and intended to be) for Bare!
No problem Christine! I know the review for Babe is coming 😉
Thankfully, I’m not taken by any of the three here. Bare does look lovely, but I have solid dupes for it. Wallet is happy! ?
Has Sazan nude become part of the permanent lineup? It was Limited Edition last summer and really hard to get a hold of! For any fellow readers with undertones that lean neutral and very muted- it’s a lovely color. The only warm nude that works on me!
I’m not sure – I don’t have any info on it – I thought it was permanent since I bought the shades as a one-off (not a new release) last week. It’s available both on Bobbi Brown and Nordstrom (the latter is where I bought all of my shades).
On further investigation I think Bobbi Brown must have made it permanent: the LE version had different packaging. (I couldn’t find any information announcing it though.)
Thanks for the follow-up, Liz!
These are lovely lipstick shades for a spring/summer look and Bare would be my favourite.
