General

Sydney Grace General Matte Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a dark, murky green with subtle, warm olive undertones and a matte finish. It had medium, buildable pigmentation with a slightly drier, stiffer consistency, which gave it a tendency to stick well to my skin but was harder to diffuse and spread outward. I didn’t have too much difficulty diffusing the edge to my satisfaction. It stayed on well for seven and a half hours on me before fading slightly.

Formula Overview

$5.00/0.06 oz. - $83.33 Per Ounce

The matte eyeshadows tend to be pigmented (typically semi-opaque or opaque, often buildable if they aren't opaque) with a soft, more velvety texture that has slight slip but isn't so thick that it gets difficult to use, applies unevenly, or has a lot of fallout. I've found that most of the matte eyeshadows apply and blend out without much effort but a few may take a bit more effort to diffuse along the edges. The matte formula tends to wear between eight and eight and a half hours on me.

Herky Bird

Sydney Grace Herky Bird Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a deep, army green with warm undertones and a bright, metallic finish. The consistency was incredibly soft and almost cream-like, as it was richer and thicker without being heavy or prone to emphasizing my lid texture. It had rich pigmentation that applied beautifully and blended out easily. The eyeshadow lasted nicely for eight hours before creasing faintly.

Formula Overview

$6.00/0.06 oz. - $100.00 Per Ounce

The shimmer eyeshadows are more consistent in pigmentation with the majority of shades having opaque color coverage. The more metallic/sparkly the shade is, the creamier and more emollient the eyeshadow felt in the pan, which often yielded really smooth application and good adherence to the lid, though a few worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush for true-to-pan color or to get a truer finish/sheen. Most shades, however, worked well with brushes, and I didn't have trouble applying or blending out most of the shimmer shades. The more satin to pearl like finishes tend to feel a little thinner but blend out well. These shades wore between eight and nine hours on me with some of the more foiled-like shades creasing noticeably at the end (and the less foiled-like ones fading).

Hot Stuff

Sydney Grace Hot Stuff Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium bronze with warm, golden shimmer and a warmer, reddish undertone. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer, which applied well to bare skin and blended out without trouble. The consistency was soft, smooth, and lightly creamy without being too dense that it became stiff to work with. It wore well for eight hours on me before it started to fade noticeably on me.

Mango Tea

Sydney Grace Mango Tea Matte Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a light-medium orange with stronger, yellow undertones and a matte finish. It had a soft, velvety consistency that was denser and a little powdery, so there was slight fallout when I applied it if I wasn’t careful. It had excellent color payoff that adhered well without diffusing too readily, though it blended out nicely on the edge as I wanted it to. The eyeshadow stayed on well for eight hours on me before fading a bit.

Morning Star

Sydney Grace Morning Star Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a light-medium, muted gold with warm undertones and a sparkling finish. It had a chunkier consistency that was more prone to fallout and harder to apply evenly and smoothly to bare skin. I’d recommend using a lightly dampened brush to help this apply and smooth out more readily on the lid. It had good color coverage that was buildable to full coverage in two layers. It lasted well for eight hours but had light fallout over time.

Formula Overview

$6.00/0.06 oz. - $100.00 Per Ounce

The shimmer eyeshadows are more consistent in pigmentation with the majority of shades having opaque color coverage. Recruit

Sydney Grace Recruit Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium, olive green with warm, bronzy undertones and a frosted sheen. The eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, though the consistency was a bit too softly pressed in the pan so there was an of excess product kicked up in the pan and slight fallout if I wasn’t careful during application. It blended out nicely, though, and it had a very smooth sheen on my skin that made the product look more “melted” applied. It wore well for eight hours before I noticed any fading.

This brand is bringing out some of the most stunning olive green shades that I ever seen – love Herky Bird, Recruit and Hot Stuff. I am beside myself about what I would choose from this brand.
Beautiful, autumnal eye look Christine.

Recruit and Herky Bird are right up my alley. These are the olive greens that I feel like I’ve been waiting for forever! Not really. It just seems like it.

I never liked “only-available in pan” products before but Sydney Grace is THAT good that I went ahead and pre-ordered their 3 eye shadow bundles after playing with Autumn’s Reign–which has been my go-to weekend look these last few weeks.

Would love to see swatches of their blushes, pretty please (the ones on their site are in terrible lighting)!! I totally used your Swatch Gallery to pick out some highlighters already!! You’re the best! …and I also think they should hire you to swatch for them, LOL.

Happy to hear that the Autumn’s Reign palette has been treating you well – hope you enjoy the rest of shades you bought, Agona! 🙂

Duly noted!

There are two that really stands out for me, Recruit and Herky Bird. Lovely colours, seeing them made me almost redo my makeup in some muted olives. They are on my wish list. I may actually make a purchase within my low buy as they are inexpensive and yet so lovely.
