My skin tone/coloring: Porcelain

Favorite look you worn: I did kind of a grungy matte purple look with the Smashbox Punked palette on eyes and KvD Ayesha on lips.

Most used product of the week: MILK makeup blur stick.

Any new beauty discoveries: I’m really loving the MILK makeup watermelon serum as a lightweight moisturizer, since it’s starting to get warm & humid I don’t need quite as heavy of face creams.

Apologies for thanking AJ, when you recommended the punked palette. It’ll be a cooler summer with that and the Nars fleur. Punked should work, as so many l/s pull purple on me, and I love the moodier shades, lots of greige in stash, gray blush, mufe dark purple taupe….. such anticipation.

My skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Favorite look you wore: can’t really think of anything that stands out; pretty much the same sorts of looks every day
Most used product of the week: Buxom self-made/customizable palette (I used it, among other things, to replicate that stunning Tom Ford Nude Dip eye look you used last week when you were reviewing some other products) and Lise Watier Multi Fini powder foundation
Any new beauty discoveries: the hypocrisy-inducing Hourglass Veil loose powder – as loose powders go, it is super-nice.

Almost as bad here, Genevieve – $102 and, having looked at the reviews specific to that one palette at Sephora (there is now the ability to narrow their reviews), and at Makeup Alley, it really didn’t get a whole lot of stellar reviews and considering the price…. (I know it got a good review from Christine and that counts for a lot but seeing quite a few less than favourable reviews helped balance my crazy desire to put common sense and intelligence aside and buy this). The fact that all the shades were so dupe-able from what I already have is also helping (I’ve got a list set up for all 4 shades showing my dupes…it’s a bit less handy than having everything in one palette but it also saves me $102 PLUS taxes!)

SKINTONE/COLORING: Light neutral skintone/green eyes, dark hair

FAVORITE LOOK WORN: MAC eyeshadow singles (Quarry in crease, Shale on lid, Haux on outer V, and Vanilla on brow bone), Marc Jacobs Highliners (Grapevine on upper tightline, Pink of Me on lower waterline), Bare Minerals BarePro Performance Wear Liquid Foundation in 05 Sateen, Clinique Berry Pop blush, Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick in Emilienne.

Plus my everyday usuals: Clinique Brow Shaper in Charcoaled, ABH Brow Wiz in Granite, Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara, RCMA No Color Powder, and Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in Light Neutral

MOST USED PRODUCTS: (Aside from the usuals) Marc Jacobs Highliners in various shades

NEW BEAUTY DISCOVERIES: I discovered that I look ridiculous with glitter on my face. The Smashbox Shimmer Drops that I just bought went back to the store. 🙁 Actually, this product was exactly what I was looking for, a sparkly topper for my cheeks, and it worked well…but I didn’t realize that my face just isn’t very glitter-friendly until I after I bought it. So sad. It looked so pretty on the SA. Oh well, such is life. Here’s to all of you who look beautiful with sparkles! 🙂

Skin tone: Very fair with cool undertones, MAC NW5-10

Favorite look: I didn’t wear much makeup this week what with surgery and all but the one day I did actually put on a full face I used the ColourPop Element of Surprise palette. I used Labyrinth in the crease and deepened it with Late Night. On the mobile lid I used Blank Canvas over Peace of Mind which when completed gave me a copper/brown/mustard look. Not my favorite makeup look I have ever done!! I used Nabla Blossom Blush in the shade Impulse and Nabla Dreamy Liquid Lip in the shade Grande Amore. I loved the lip and blush. I used MAC Whisper of Guilt under the blush to give it a little shimmer. Would wear the blush and lipstick combo again but probably switch up the eye shadows a little. The shadows were fine just my color combination didn’t suit me. I was trying to step out of my comfort zone a little but sometimes you are in a box for a reason, LOL.

Most used product: Sunscreen and Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm.

New beauty discoveries: Nothing really this week.

Thank you, Nancy. I am starting to get there. Had a reaction to one of the medications they gave me and so the first few days I just did not feel good but I think the effects are beginning to wear off and I am feeling more like myself.

Deborah S. Avatar

The surgery itself went quite well but I did have an allergic reaction to a medication they gave me and that was unpleasant. Today is the first day that I am feeling like myself. It was a kind of weird out of body experience with jitters, mood swings, blood sugars dropping and causing me to be even more jittery, sweaty and mentally like I was coming unglued which is not my personality at all. My daughter came home and stayed the weekend with me to help me out and is going back home today. Thank you for your well wishes, Genevieve.

My skin tone/coloring: light to medium with warm undertones, MAC NC 23ish

Favorite look you’ve worn: Look of the week: Urban Decay Naked 3 palette – Limit (transition), Nooner (crease and a little on outer v), Darkside (deepen crease and outer v), some bronzey liner and Nooner and Darkside (really blended out, I just wanted some definition), Burnout + Dust tapped on lid with finger. Tightline and waterline with the bronzey liner but no upper lashline and only mascara on top lashes. MAC Medium Deep MSF (bronzer), MAC Cubic and/or Sweet Enough (blush), CLE cushion highlighter (forgot the name) as a base and MAC Show Gold on top, Tom Ford Pussycat lipstick. I do not like mattes but this one is pretty comfortable and if I added just a tiny bit of Laneige Lip Mask before putting it on, it made it more of a satin finish. I didn’t need the Laneige for comfort, but I don’t like a matte look on my lips and thought it would be better underneath than on top.

Most used product of the week: All of my staples.

Any new beauty discoveries: None this week!

Pearl Avatar

I was wondering that too! I asked Christine about it on the review page and she likened it to a lighter, pinker Naked Heat. I did a palette vs. palette comparison but there was only 1 similar/1 dupe and that was for Blackheart. It sure looks similar, though.

My skin tone/coloring: Medium w/ olive undertones MAC NC37, Lancôme Teint Idole N360, Fenty ProFilt’r Foundation 260, deep brunette, blue-green eyes w/ gold flecks.

Favorite look you worn: Yesterday, I wore a gorgeously glowy, yet not OTT rose-gold look using the left side of Smashbox Petal Metal Palette with a bit of the deep brown on the far right hand side to deepen up and fake a crease. Applied teal liner on my lower lashline, black on upper. MAC Orb on browbone, of course. Smashbox Rosemantic on cheeks, which gave me a slightly sunburned look, like I’d been down the shore! Added just a smidge of Maybelline Molton Rose Gold Highlighter to tops of cheekbones. Lined lips with Nyx Ever Slim Lip Pencil, applied UD Outspoken Vice Lipstick, added a little Smashbox Petal Metal Be Legendary in just the center of my lips. Actually bought that Petal Metal gloss back last winter. Finally found a super pretty usage for it!

Most used product of the week: Rose-gold and copper EVERYTHING! Been hitting my old Lorac Unzipped Palette, MAC x Taraji Highlight The Truth, Burnt Pepper blush, UD Outspoken Lipstick, and now Smashbox Rosemantic Highlighter as a bronzing blush, Petal Metal Palette, which I do not believe to be a dupe for Lorac Unzipped, if anyone wonders about then overlapping.

Any new beauty discoveries: Nothing to note, really? ?

Maybe you can get to the Jersey Shore within a year. I know how much you miss the NY/NJ area. The looks sound gorgeous and so you.

My skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undetones; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes

Favorite look you worn: EYES — UDPP in Enigma. ColourPop Pressed Powder Shadow in Secrets (crease) and Imperial (outer corner of crease); Huda Gemstones Obsession Palette: #8/pink (brow bone), #7/glittery copper (foiled on lid), and #6/reddish copper (outer third of lid; layered over UD x Basquiat Eye Pencil in Anatomy on the lower lashline); SugarPill Loose Eyeshadow in Lumi (inner corner). ABH eyeshadow single in Love Letter (brows). UD 24/7 Eye Pencil in Perversion (upper waterline). Physician’s Formula Sexy Booster Va Va Voom Mascara. CHEEKS — Tarte Blush in Heated. FACE — TheBalm TimeBalm face primer; Frankenstein mix of powder foundation; bareMinerals Original Mineral Veil; Sephora Tranquil (contour); e.l.f. Blush in Gotta Glow (as highlighter). LIPS — ColourPop Ultra Satin in a bright orange sherbet color that I cannot remember the name of nor read the name on, LOL. It was the one they gave out as a free gift a while back when they were late with people’s orders.

Most used product of the week: Too Faced Natural Face Palette. So far I’m loving it.

Any new beauty discoveries: A friend gave me the Milk Blur Stick because it didn’t work on her dry skin, but after using it on myself, I don’t think it blurs or minimizes pores at all. Maybe I’m using wrong? I was told by a few people to use it in lieu of my face primer. It does make a good primer, but I see no effect on how my skin looks. I’m glad I didn’t pay for it.

My skin tone/coloring: Light with warm/olive undertones, NC15/MUFE Y225

Favorite look you’ve worn: Super dewy skin with a bright pink lip (BM Complexion Rescue, RMS Un Cover-Up, Buriti Bronzer, Hourglass Diffused Light ALP, and Hourglass Girl Stylo in Leader.)

Most used product of the week: My RMS Un Cover-up and Buriti bronzer. I should say that I used to scoff at RMS products, because of the amount you get for the price, but this last winter my skin was begging me to buy a Lip2Cheek (Spell) for the emollient texture. Now I am in the “gotta catch ’em all” phase because I love them so much. My early 40s skin loves them and multitask products in general.

Any new beauty discoveries: The RMS Buriti Bronzer that I bought last week. As soon as I put it on I was in love. It has that same rosiness that my beloved TheBalm Balm Desert blush has. I’m a big fan of the slightly burnt look. Yellow/orange bronzers look really odd on me.

Skintone / coloring: light, MAC NC 15 – 20, med brown hair and eyes

Favorite look worn: Colourpop Yes Please Eyeshadow Palette. Mischief and Big Champs in the crease. GNO on the outer corner. Butter Cake on the eyelid. Rimmel Soft Kohl Pencil in Brown on upper lashline. Makeup Forever Excessive Lash Mascara. MAC Margin blush. Fenty Lightning Dust Highlighter.
Chanel Bronzer Soleil Tan bronzer.

Most Used Product: MAC Margin Blush. Bare Minerals Matte Mineral Foundation. Rimmel Soft Kohl Pencil in Brown. Makeup Forever Excessive Lash Mascara. Chanel Bronzer Soleil Tan Bronzer. Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin Pressed Powder.

New beauty discoveries: None

My skin tone/coloring: fair/cool skin, gray eyes, brown hair with red highlights and scattered blonde and blue streaks-all natural.
Favorite look you worn: Either Tuesday or today.
Tuesday: Becca Light Chaser Opal Flashes Jade used as eyeshadow, Tom Ford Extreme Lash and Brow Tint TX22 (magenta) on lashes, green mascara (Hard Candy Curl Up and Dye Late Night, long discontinued) on tips of lashes, L’Oreal Collection Exclusive La Vie En Rose 711 Liya’s Pink lipstick.
Today-UD Jilted (usual disclaimer-its red pigment not tested by FDA, UD legally required to say it’s unsafe because its safety isn’t proven, you shouldn’t use it to tightline, those with sensitive eyes shouldn’t use it at all) lid to crease, Becca Light Chaser Amethyst Flashes Geode above crease, Becca Light Chaser Opal Flashes Jade on browbone, Tom Ford Extreme Lash and Brow Tint TX22, L’Oreal Collection Exclusive La Vie En Rose 707 Doutzen’s Pink.
Most used product of the week: My Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin concealer, CoverGirl Clean Normal Skin pressed powder, and NARS Satellite of Love highlighting blush-they were used in both the looks I listed. For foundation I used UD All Nighter 2.5 in those 2 looks and L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion C3 Creamy Natural Thursday and Friday-the L’Oreal needs less blending and gets me out the door for work faster.
Any new beauty discoveries: No real reports here.

Genevieve Avatar

My skin tone/colouring: Porcelain with pink undertones

Favourite look you worn: I have been doing a few looks with the Lorac Pro Metals this week: one with the Amber shade (Peach) all over the lid with a touch of cobalt on the lower lid and another with the gold shade all over the lid and clover (olive shade) on the lower lid

Most used product of the week: Lorac Pro Metals and Art Deco lipstick in Indian summer

Any new beauty discoveries: That my day time eye look is better when I have the lighter shade over the lid and in the crease, with just a pop of colour on the lower lid. I have found that when I put a darker shade in the crease, it tends to make my eyes look too small and it looks a bit messy.

I am Medium Neutral toned with yellow undertone.

Am still panning my MAC Whenever You Call eyeshadow and loving it. Have been teaming it this week with Orgasm blush and Laura Geller Melon Infusion lip gloss.

Most used is the aforementioned eyeshadow. I want it completely gone this month.

I borrowed the Tarte Twinkle II highlighter palette from my daughter and have discovered I don’t like these. They’re very chalky.

My skin tone/coloring: deep with yellow undertones

Favorite look this week: All week I have been wearing an almost no makeup makeup look. After my base I have been using mac format blush which does not give me much color but just warms up my cheeks. For eyeshadow I used warm browns with some sheen to them and then a blue or green shadow on the lower lash line. Lovely neutral pink lips with no highlighters or contour. It felt very fresh and spring!

Most used product of the week: mufe old formula shadows in cauldron, graphite brown and copper.

Any new beauty discoveries: the ordinary vitamin c 30 with silicone. Nice and smooth and it plays nice with others.

My skin tone/coloring: Cover Fx N110 (dark deep with neutral undertones)

Favorite look you worn: I loved using the shimmers from Too Faced Chocolate Gold on my lids and a warm brown in the crease. My fave lippies were Lady and Who Run This from Colour Pop.

Most used product of the week: Becca Chocolate Geode. I use it on my body, inner corner, and cheeks.

Any new beauty discoveries: Oil free foundations DO NOT work for my dehydrated skin. I used to think that my skin was oily. So I opted for more matte/oil free foundations. I have discovered that they make my skin produce more oil. I have the best results (less oil) from hydrating or dewy foundations. I love Cover FX power play as a “mixer” I put one or two drops into my hydrating foundations. PERFECT finish.
