MAC x Rossy de Palma Colours on the Verge Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Colours on the Verge
MAC Colours on the Verge Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow Palette ($32.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a new, limited edition eyeshadow palette with five, shimmery shades ranging fro minty green to deep black.
Per MAC, the formula is supposed to be “long-wearing [for] 8 hours’ that is “crease-proof” and “fade-proof.” The eyeshadows “can be used wet or dry” and have “flexible coverage.” The eyeshadows tended to be semi-sheer to semi-opaque when applied dry and then intensified to semi-opaque to opaque coverage when applied with a dampened brush. The textures were soft, somewhat powdery in the pan, so using them with a dampened brush usually yielded the best results–more even coverage, richer coverage, smoother textures, and a better overall look.

Pinky
Pinky is a bright, medium-dark pink with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque coverage both dry and damp, but the dampened application made the color appear brighter and slightly more pearly. The texture was soft, loosely packed in the pan, and had some excess product kicked up in the pan, so dampened brushes were best to minimize fallout and getting the most even coverage on the lid. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me.

Smokes
Smokes is a medium purple with warm, pink undertones and a satin shimmer. It had sheer pigmentation when applied with a dry brush, and it had a tendency to sheer out a bit due to the dustier texture. The color payoff was nearly opaque when I applied the eyeshadow with a dampened brush, though it was not quite as blendable as other shades in the palette when used damp. On me, it started to fade after seven and a half hours of wear.

Charcoal
Charcoal is a dark black with neutral undertones and larger flecks of silver sparkle over a more satin-like finish. It had semi-sheer coverage applied dry that did not build up beyond that, and it was opaque when applied with a dampened brush. The texture was soft, finely-milled, but a little dusty in the pan, so there was some fallout during application. It lasted for seven and a half hours but had fallout over time due to the large sparkles that did not really adhere to the lid/bind with the powder.

Deep
Deep is a deep navy blue with cool undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation applied dry, and then it was opaque when applied with a dampened brush. The dampened application was smoother and more even as well. The eyeshadow felt soft, smooth, and almost velvety without being too powdery in the pan. It wore well for eight hours on me.

Money
Money is a bright, medium greenish-teal with warmer undertones and a pearly sheen. It had sheer coverage when I tried to use it dry, and it also read warmer against my skin tone. When I applied it with a dampened brush, it intensified to nearly opaque coverage and was brighter and cooler-toned overall. The consistency was soft, a bit powdery in the pan, but it was blendable and lasted for eight hours on me.

I’m not a fan of this line at all, from what I’ve seen so far. Way too theatrical or costume-y for my taste. I also don’t like the packaging, which looks a bit garish to me.
But that’s just my little opinion.
I agree Seraphine, this is not for me either.
As much as I had a love at first sight moment last night, nearly buying this, I decided to wait for your thoughts on it first. Basically because it seemed to my eye that I probably already had some excellent dupes at home. Plus, dry application wasn’t stirring my pot, so to speak. Glad I waited!
Same as you, thought I was going to get purchase it and now after seeing the swatches, I’m save my money for something else. Shame, I really like that blue.
I do like these shades and thought about purchasing but probably would not use enough to make it worthwhile to purchase.
These shades are so gorgeous! I’m tempted to pick up the Colour Pop dupes for Money and Deep, even though I would probably wear them less than once a month.
This is not a bad rating for MAC’s shadows, we’ve seen a lot worse. But the little palette is a mixed bag of shades. The only colour I liked was Deep (of which I have a few dupes). If you didn’t have many colourful palettes, then this would suit you.
Such pretty bright fun colors!
I was really interested to see your look with these, it‘s a shame you didn‘t make one!
Sorry, my eyes have been in rough shape here and there due to the number of products I’m testing/reviewing right now, and they were very bloodshot and parts of my lid were scaley, so I did not take photos.
I have this palette and it really works for me. Have same eye color as Rossy and similar Mediterranean complexion, so maybe that’s one of the reasons the colors fit. The eyeshadows blends well and I like how they can work together for the evening makeup. The colors do not stay as bright as in the box, true, but I still like the overal result. I like bold colors and extravagance , so both the shades and packaging are right up my alley! Gotta try the blushes too, after seeing the review.
