MAC Liptensity Lipstick
MAC Medium Rare Liptensity Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a light-medium pink with warm, yellow undertones and a satin finish. This was one of the least glossy/shiny shades in the range, and of course, it will wear down closest to a matte finish. The texture was slightly heavier, as it was thicker and more cream-like with this balminess. It had good pigmentation and didn’t drag noticeably on the lips, though it took a moment for it to warm up against my lips. This shade wore well for five hours and was neither drying nor hydrating. Bobbi Brown Pink Nude (P, $40.00) is less shimmery, warmer (95% similar). MAC She Betta Werrrk (LE, $19.00) is cooler, less glossy (95% similar). NYX Couture (P, $6.00) is less glossy (95% similar). Bobbi Brown Pink Kiss (P, $28.00) is warmer (90% similar). Makeup Geek BFF (P, $12.00) is lighter, cooler (95% similar). Maybelline Blushing Bud (705) (P, $7.49) is darker, warmer (90% similar). MAC Driftwood Liptensity Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a soft, medium mauve with subtle, neutral-to-warm undertones and a glossy finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation paired with a thinner, more emollient consistency than most of the shades in the range. The texture did sit in lip lines more noticeably, and it didn’t wear as long–only four hours–and was one of the shortest wearing shades I tested. Bite Beauty Cava (DC, $24.00) is lighter (95% similar). MAC Really Me (P, $19.00) is lighter (90% similar). Makeup Geek Trailblazer (P, $12.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). MAC Doe Liptensity Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a dark, peachy-beige with subtle, warmer undertones and a satin finish. It had great pigmentation that covered the lips with opaque color in one stroke. The texture was smooth, lightly creamy, but I had some trouble with the color settling into lip lines. It lasted for five and a half hours but color did gather more and more in my lip lines on my bottom lip. Bobbi Brown Almost Bare (P, $40.00) is lighter (95% similar). MAC Dandy Apple (LE, $19.00) is lighter (90% similar). bareMinerals Honeybun (PiP, $20.00) is darker, less pigmented (90% similar). MAC Cherish (P, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). Formula Overview
MAC Liptensity Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.12 oz.) is supposed to have “intense amounts of pigment” with a gel-like texture that melts on lips that leaves behind a satin finish and wears for “eight hours.” It’s supposed to be “comfortable” to wear, but there are no claims about hydration–and overall, they were non-drying. The majority of the range varied from semi-opaque to fully opaque in one stroke, while the texture had some body and thickness to it but was not heavy. The consistency feels firmer in the tube, but it became softer and more pliable as it warmed up against the lips. This was also true about how the color settled and looked on the lips–it tended to fill up lip lines without emphasizing them as much after thirty seconds of wear. The formula didn”t have a lot of slip, and it was actually lightly tacky, which helped it stay in place better. The wear ranged from four to eight hours with lighter shades typically wearing shorter than deeper and more intense shades. The finish was anywhere from satin to natural with noticeable sheen, sometimes glossiness, but it often wore to a satin to semi-matte finish after a few hours. The formula has MAC’s typical vanilla scent but had no discernible taste.

So happy to know that some of this line is permanent now. Don’t have to rush and get the colors I want!
Me too! It was great news!
Driftwood is gorgeous but I have several dupes and the rating is a bummer. Love the shade tho. The name Medium Rare for a lipstick really creeps me out for some reason. Anyone else? ?
I could see the name icking some out, lol!
Not my colors, but I like Doe on you
Thanks, Katherine!
Medium Rare and Driftwood look nice on you. I’m surprised how light/bright Medium Rare looks on you but when I swatched in instore the shade looks like a natural pink with my skin tone.
Thank you!
Oh dear. I doubt that any of these could work on me. Medium Rare has as a close dupe Blushing Bud, which I have and it just looks too light on me. Driftwood is not only too light, but combined with the grayish undertone, would be zombie qualifying on me!
Doe is no. Because I have Amor Prohibido coming, and it’s better suited to my coloring, I think!
But I can see how flattering these can look on Lt.-Med and fairer, though. Especially Medium Rare! Pretty on you!
Aw, that is too bad, Nancy! But on the upside… there are plenty to like so skips are good!
Doe is nice!
Happy to hear it!
I was actually looking into driftwood! Disappointed to see it performed so poorly…
Awww!
