5 Shimmering Shades of Pewter

I bet you thought GOLD! was coming today, but I actually wanted to focus on pewter, which is kind of a mix of silver and gold, often with an antique, vintage, or “dirty” vibe to it. Pewter is a lot like taupe–it is hard to define, and it can be warmer or cooler (more golden or more silver). What are your favorites? I’m always in the market for a new shade of pewter!

  2. Marc Jacobs Beauty Patsy (164)
  3. Make Up For Ever D552 Crystalline Gray Beige
  4. Revlon Rich
  5. MAC Antique Diamond

I don’t have any pewter eyeshadows but it seems a very easy colour to wear, easier than gold, say. It’s more of a neutral colour and goes with most other colours, I think.

I <3 This is darn near an exact dupe (95% match) for the lightest shade in one of my Kate eyeshadows, which is my holy grail glittery neutral. Pretty excited about it. 🙂

I have Antique Diamond but find it way too sheer for my liking. I got it as a “dupe” for Modern Pewter, which I missed out on, but I’m really not all that thrilled with it. I think I’ll give it another try this week! Some of my current pewter-y faves are (though I know you’re not crazy for it, Christine) Stila’s Substance from the Eyes are the Window-Soul palette and Stila Cloud as well as a few discontinued shadows like TheBalm Insane Jane and MAC Dalliance.

2 more just landed on my list: Revlon Rich np, and CP I Heart This!
I lurrrve pewter shades, especially when they lean more gold! Some faves I use often are: Sinful Gel Tech np in Prosecco, Sally Hansen Complete Manicure in Shoot the Moon, Mac VG Rihanna 2 lipstick, the pewter/gold side of Nars Kauai, UD Verve & Pistol e/s’s (not sure what to classify either shade!) and now, CP Glitterati!

I Heart This is one of my favorites, too. I like pewter, because it’s warmer than gray or silver, and I think more flattering on me. But I also feel like I don’t have very many true pewter eyeshadows. I’m eager to see what other readers have and like. I don’t think I have any other pewter cosmetics (maybe some nail polishes, but I’d have to look). It would be awesome to find a good pewter eyeliner and lipstick.

For eyeshadows, I also like Lorac’s Pewter, BareMinerals Eye Color in Pewter, Rob Schweppy Bella Note, Stila Night Sky, the dark pewter in Lorac’s Stay Cool palette (no name), and the dark pewter shade in Sonia Kashuk Eye Couture Eyes on Neutrals — 03 Shimmer (no name).

True, very true! What I call “true pewter” — I know it when I see it. lol I consider it as a golden silver with a slight green undertone, or a bluish undertone in the darker pewters. Not as cool and brown as taupe, and no rosy or lavender undertones.

Most of my pewter- and taupe-like favorites lean heavily rosy, green, or lavender/purple, so that’s why I didn’t count them as “pewter.”

Oooooh, I was p&)(ed when S goofed my coupon, then decided if day job dough was sufficient, I’d do a MUFE trio. The other option, was to call the Rouge line and wail a sob story… The trio has CGB, which has been @ the top of my hit parade, for a while. A+ from you, oh yay! Also Canyon & Ash Pink, not that they particularly go, but, they can Z. Then I saw that the train case on sale, and I have been mucho good. What L’Oreal used to say…. That kind of offended me at the time. (“Because I’m worth it…”). Oooh, I can dial back the MUFE lust, and justify the train case due to the sale price. Reframing. Hah!
