Liquid Lipsticks (Over $15) | 2018 Editor's Favorites

In 2018, Bite Beauty released more shades in their Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick range, which I was all about, as I love this type of liquid lipstick: creamy, smooth, ultra-pigmented, and very comfortable to wear.  I hope NARS adds Lip Covers to their permanent offerings, as it’s a standout formula, and is a nice counterpoint to their Powermatte Lip Pigments.  I’m curious if we’ll see more edited offerings in the liquid lipstick category in 2019, as it seems to be a product type that isn’t quite as popular (possibly because most major brands offer a solid range of shades in their core lines).

I didn’t buy hardly any liquid high end lipsticks this year. Maybe 4 or 5? I’ve been enjoying gloss’ comeback too much. lol I don’t have any of these, though they’re all lovely. ABH Insomniac was tempting, but I have it in the Matte Lipstick.

My two favorites that came out in 2018:
* Fenty Uninvited. I absolutely love it. So many people say it’s thin and sheer, but both the one I swatched at Sephora and the one I ordered are opaque in one stroke. The formula is thin, but I don’t find it sheer or watery. I’ve been really impressed with it.

*Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick in Kohlrabi. I’m really impressed that it doesn’t bleed or need a liner, and that the color is evan and opaque. Not so easy with such a dark purple shade.

Dior Lip Tattoo (lip stain) – very thin formula, matte, applies like a dream and does not transfer. They came up with four new shades part of their Juice collection – Summer 2018. The one shade I purchased from that collection (Watermelon) was a bit watery but the ones I have from the original launch (351 – Natural Nude and 761 – Natural Cherry) are stellar for me.

Lancôme L’Absolu Lacquer launched in 2018 – shine of a gloss, staying power of a lip stain. Brilliant formula, at least for the shade I have (315 Energy Shot). I wore it all summer long.

YSL Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain – beautiful comfortable formula. A bit thicker that the two above. They came up with some metallic shades towards the end of 2018. I have it in no. 16 Nude Emblem (terra cotta pink).

Man, but do I have a rather hellish time with liquid lipstick, other than ColourPop USLS’s! Therefore, only Bite Arrowroot is still on my WL. It looks so beautiful, but I haven’t pulled the trigger for it due to the highly embarrassing incident I had with Bite Mauvember Liquified Lipstick somehow wandering all over outside my lip area while at a congregation picnic a year ago! It sits unused except as a center lip lipgloss.
The only 2 I use with any regularity are Sugarpill Strange Love and KVD Hawkwind.

Terrific round up. Makes me realize I DID cut down this year. I see quite a few LEs that I actually still rue not scoring, esp Hell’s Gate.

Liquid Lipsticks aren’t my favorite lipstick, but if I’m wearing red, green, blue, deep vampy (PMG, aside), it’s going to be a rock-solid formula. While I don’t have any shades on your list, I did name NARS’s powermatte in StarWoman my new “power red” (previously used to be the finicky KVD Nosferatu (i’m not using that asinine spelling)). I also like my single Dose of Colors and handful of TooFaced – their formula is pretty good…a little dry, but not too bad.
