Liquid Lipsticks (Under $15) | 2018 Editor's Favorites

Between ColourPop Ultra Satin / Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks and Sephora Cream Lip Stains, we have ourselves a top 12!  When Sephora re-did the shade range on their Cream Lip Stains, I picked up several to review, and I can see why it has been a popular, more budget-friendly formula for those who like their matte liquid lipsticks.

Liquid Lipsticks (Under $15)

I am more partial to liquid lipsticks with less of a dry down myself (so all the more matte ones I’ve listed here are more flexible/comfortable to wear), which seemed to be a product type that didn’t get much love this year by brands at this price point from what I’ve tried, so I’ll be on the lookout for more options in 2019 (if you have suggestions, let me know)!

What more affordable liquid lipsticks did you reach for this year?

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! 4 on my WL, goose eggs in my stash out of the above! The 2 I really do love and want, CP USLS in Chola and Mija worry me a bit that I actually may have similar enough shades within all my tube lipstick hoard. And since I really have a commitment to put to good use what I have and get back to creatively enjoying using them, I have made a conscious decision not to purchase any color cosmetic products that don’t fill a gap.

Plenty of CP, and now Nyx cream suede. Ordered 2 more from Nyx, in looking for the machinist lavender HL that Ulta left out of my order, then did not restock.

I prefer Sephora’s formula overall to Colourpop’s Satin, as most dry down to minimal, if any transfer, while CP’s still seems to slide about….on *me* anyway. Sephora’s Always Red is a staple when I travel and the metallic red on your list is a holiday need.

I think they’re the only two liquid lipstick formulas under $15 I’ve tried and liked. Milani and Wet n’ Wild both have suuuuper drying formulas (on me).

I always hated the feel of Colorpops ultra satin and ultra mattes until I got my mitts on ELF’s lip primer pencil. It made the ultra mattes comfortable, didn’t affect the no-transfer and it still lasted for like seven hours.

I only use matte lipsticks and love the Sephora Lip Stains. However my favourite is BH Cosmetics Liquid Linen Lipsticks. They aren’t as drying and seem to last longer too.

I got Morning Glory and Make Believe from this list, and I love them.

Other favorites from 2018: ColourPop Ultra Satin in Wig, Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick in Lavender Crown; Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick in Sleepy Hallow and Tangerine; Darling Girl Cosmetics Pucker Paint in Mon Cher and Fire It Up, and Apocalyptic Beauty Liquid Lipstick in Fresh Kill.
