Sephora Day Dreaming & English Rose Cream Lip Stains Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Day Dreaming (81)
Sephora Day Dreaming (81) Cream Lip Stain ($14.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium, rosy mauve with neutral-to-cool undertones and a flat, matte finish. The color payoff was opaque with a smooth, fluid consistency that was thin but not watery. It applied evenly across my lips, but after it had dried down and did accentuate my lip lines a bit on the lower lip but seemed fine on my upper lip. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours and was slightly drying after four hours of wear.

Formula Overview
$14.00/0.169 oz. - $82.84 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "high-coverage" that goes on "smooth" and yields a "silky, lightweight stain" that is "long-lasting" and "never sticky" and "won't dry out lips." One of the signature traits for the formula is that it is a thinner (and yet somehow creamy) texture that does spread well but feels thin and very lightweight on the lips. It dries down quickly, but I never felt like it was troublesome to apply, even if I needed an extra moment to get around the edges of my lips, so it was a more forgiving formula despite setting more quickly. Once it set, the color did stay locked on for hours--I tested shades for around eight hours and many were still going strong. The formula was non-drying to slightly drying to me. They had a moderately strong, sweet scent (almost like burnt sugar) that also smelled just slightly "perfume-y" to me, but it seemed to dissipate after an hour of wear.
The pigmentation varied from shade to shade, but it did seem that the more shimmery and metallic shades often were less pigmented and did not always apply as evenly and sometimes seemed to sit in my lip lines. The cream/matte shades applied more evenly and had more opaque coverage on average.

Day Dreaming (81)
PPermanent. $14.00.
English Rose (86)
Sephora English Rose (86) Cream Lip Stain ($14.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium-dark, rosy plum with subtle, warm undertones and a flat, matte finish. The consistency was smooth, lightly creamy, and fluid that was thin but not watery, so the color spread very easily across my lips (almost too easily!). It had opaque color payoff that dried down evenly and didn’t emphasize the texture of my lips. The color lasted well for almost eight hours and made it through a meal and water. The formula was neither drying nor hydrating on me.

English Rose looks like the PERFECT rosy color for me! Also a 10 in longevity?? I’m sold!!
English Rose is beautiful! I always fall for shades like this!
While these shades are pretty, I have not had a good experience with this line. I bought a couple of Sephora Cream Stains last year (Pink Tea, Infinite Rose) and found them to be very drying and uncomfortable after about 30 minutes. They’re currently in my “possibly get rid of” box right now.
(In contrast, I do like KVD and Colourpop’s liquid lipsticks.)
Hoping once you get a chance to review all of the cream lipstains that you’ll do a roundup post of the best ones! Those are always my favourite 🙂
English Rose is so dang pretty! I have a weakness for these types of shades, which is why I suppose I saw a bunch of “possible dupes” that are currently on my WL, LoL. One of which is Coloured Raine Foxy Lady. Just about identical, except for the finish on Foxy Lady being glossy instead of matte.
I really love both of these shades. Unfortunately I am on a no lipstick buy after my recent lipstick buying spree. I like English Rose a lot and it appears to be a little difficult to dupe, at least in a close match. Glad it is permanent so I will add it to my wish list.
I was surprised at how long Sephora lip stains last. I have a bright orange colored one. It’s long-lasting and comfortable.English Rose is a pretty color I may pick that one up.
The shades are pretty but I don’t like the finish of these lipstains – too dry looking for me.
