Zoeva Basic Moment Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Basic Moment
Zoeva Basic Moment Eyeshadow Palette ($26.50 for 0.50 oz.) includes 10 eyeshadows in a neutral color scheme that leaned light to mid-tone in depth and had more neutral-to-warm undertones. The texture of the eyeshadows ran dusty to powdery, which seemed to make them shorter wearing (averaging seven to seven and a half hours) and more prone to sheering out on the lid. If you normally use primer, it would certainly go a long way to minimizing the impact of the texture and give you better coverage and longer wear.

Make It Last
Make It Last is a light, yellowed beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation that applied fairly evenly to bare skin but was just a touch powdery, so there was excess product that kicked up in the pan and some sheerness when applied to the skin. It wore well for seven hours on me before fading noticeably.

Yet to Come
Yet to Come is a light gold with warm, yellow undertones and a soft, frosted shimmer. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied evenly to bare skin but had a dusty texture that felt slightly dry and loose in the pan. I felt like my eyelids “ate” this color, as it had faded significantly at the six-hour mark.

Here to Stay
Here to Stay is a light-medium peach with warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had good color payoff, though it was not quite opaque without a primer underneath it. The texture was soft, finely-milled, and blendable without being too soft or powdery in the pan. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

Liquid Clock
Liquid Clock is a soft, peachy beige with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had opaque pigmentation that applied well to bare skin and blended out without difficulty. The texture seemed a little dusty in the pan, but I didn’t notice it sheering out too readily or looking dusty on the lid. The eyeshadow started to fade on me after seven hours of wear.

Never Ending
Never Ending is a light-medium brown with soft, warm undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was opaque, while the consistency was soft, smooth, and blendable with a slightly firmer texture in the pan compared to others in the palette (but not actually stiff or hard to work with!). It wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

Unfinished
Unfinished is a medium, golden copper with warm undertones and a frosted finish. The texture was looser and a touch dry in the pan, though it applied fairly well to bare skin. It had the type of texture that would significantly improve over a primer or with a dampened brush. It had good pigmentation, which sheered out somewhat when initially applied and blended out on the lid. This shade lasted for seven and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

New Era
New Era is a soft, medium taupe brown with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. Though there was some powderiness in the pan, the eyeshadow was incredibly soft with decent substance, so it applied well to bare skin and had opaque coverage that did not immediately sheer out to nothingness like one might expect, given the texture. It would be important to tap off excess product prior to applying to avoid fallout, though. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

Waiting is a medium-dark taupe with subtle, warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had rich, opaque pigmentation that applied beautifully to the lid and adhered evenly. I really like the shade combination here, although one deeper brown or taupe would have helped create more contrast, but I really don’t like powdery shadows!
I could definitely see a deeper brown being a welcomed addition in this palette!
I know this is going to sound horrible, but this is leaving me feeling very “meh”. Even compared to my equally uber neutral MAC MACnificent Me x 9 or Viseart Chroma Theory palette, this one is terribly blah and boring.
I think this is a specific color palette that someone will LOVE but will fall short for many (in a sea of neutral palettes).
YIKES!! real brutal honesty here….what is this? LOL who do they think these colors will show up on other than someone really really really fair skinned without looking ashy.
Bleh…
Yeah, I feel like it will only be a great color combo for some people but completely unusable on others.
I’m not a fan of the colour scheme here. It’s too midtone/light for me!
This is definitely on the lighter side of the spectrum!
I’ve never heard of this brand before! The shadows are pretty, but I don’t feel like they are super unique!
This isn’t terribly exciting, although it could be a great neutrals palette for us fair-skinned ladies. It’s not tempting me.
Glad you think it would work well for fairer skin tones, even if doesn’t tempt you!
Not really impressed with Zoeva’s palettes and this one doesn’t appeal to me either. The quality is just not there overall and so many of the shades are really too similar to each other. Not enough variation in shades and it certainly needs some darker shades to pull it off.
Thank you for reviewing another Zoeva palette. I have read other reviews; some even call it cool. I’d say a couple of shades may be, but not overall. It IS massively light and fair-friendly. Think I’m the target market. However, it’s fairly dupable and I think I’ll spring for the matte and the matte spectrum palette before this one. Though actually, tbh, this would prob be a better choice for my age and coloring than naked 1 ever could be. But, Does not measure up to my beloved En Taupe in the least. The Zoeva highlighters, esp the winter one, are supposed to suck miserably, from what I’ve read, so anyone who wishes to get this ought not add a highlighter palette to improve the shipping:product ratio.
As the name suggests, it is quite basic, but I still really like it, there’s something unique about it in my opinion. As someone who is quite fair, I think I could pull it off, but it’s disappointing to see something that’s seems so unusable for people with deeper skin tones. I’m on the fence, will have to check for dupes and see if it’s really as unique as I think it is 😉
And the results are in! I can only fully dupe 2 of these shades, and kind of dupe 2 more (to the point that in my “dupe count” I only gave them half a point each). Therefore, I think this palette might be in my future! I don’t own many cool toned colors, and those were the shades I liked the most and definitely didn’t have anything close to. Thank you again for being so amazing at what you do, Christine! 🙂
I think this would be great for the fair skinned but more as a “completer” palette, something to use to help transition colors in the crease, rather than as a “stand alone” palette. Or perhaps the lighter colors to add a brightening effect on the lid, or for those who work in conservative organizations and need to keep their colors soft. Even though they are powdery, 7 hours of wear without a primer isn’t terrible, as long as the colors show up.
A little too warm for me I think, if they had a cooler version I’d be on it.
That is a lovely, subtle look you made. I’ve been on a kick of very subtle eyes lately so as to play more with strong lip colors. I will definitely have to try this look.
