YSL Rose Mix, Rouge Remix, Rouge Vinyle Vinyl Cream Lip Stains Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Rose Mix (412)
YSL Rose Mix (412) Vinyl Cream Lip Stain ($36.00 for 0.18 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a lightly glossy, cream finish. It appeared a bit darker on my lips than it did initially swatched, and the color it stained my lips was even deeper and darker than that. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that did not apply evenly and sank into my lip lines from the get-go. I tried to apply it a few different ways and still could only achieve subpar results each time. The texture was watery and lightweight initially, became tackier and a touch thicker within a few minutes, but it did not self-level or even out for me. The glossiness and lighter color wore well for five hours but the stain stayed present for another two hours from there. The formula was neither drying nor hydrating on me.

Formula Overview
$36.00/0.18 oz. - $200.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "full-coverage color" with "vinyl shine" in "just one stroke" and lasts for "10 hours." I bought seven shades to try, and I struggled applying all but two of those shades (Carmin Session and Rouge Vinyle) as they applied unevenly with noticeable streaking, which was only worsened if I tried to press my lips together to blend the product back out. I reapplied every single trouble-making shade three different times, trying less and more product as we ll as waiting 10 minutes for it to set/self-level (newsflash: they didn't).
The formula had semi-opaque to opaque coverage, but the color just did not seem to go on evenly for most shades I tried. The consistency felt more water-like when initially applied, as it was thin with a lot of movement, but it hugged lips more within 30 seconds of application and had a moderate shine and some tackiness. They were longer-wearing (six to eight hours, plus a very strong stain) and were comfortable to wear (non-drying to lightly hydrating). The formula had a sweet, floral scent but no discernible taste.

Rouge Remix (402)
YSL Rouge Remix (402) Vinyl Cream Lip Stain ($36.00 for 0.18 oz.) is a bright, medium red with subtle, warm undertones and a glossy, cream finish. It had good color coverage in a single layer, though I wouldn’t say it was opaque. The consistency was lightweight, watery, and had a lot of slip/wetness initially, but then it thickened a bit and felt somewhat sticky. This shade applied a lot more evenly than others I tried, though there was still room for improvement. It stayed on well for six hours and left behind a strong, red stain that lingered from there. The formula felt slightly moisturizing to me over time.

Rouge Vinyle (401)
YSL Rouge Vinyle (401) Vinyl Cream Lip Stain ($36.00 for 0.18 oz.) is a deep red with warm undertones and a cream finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied evenly and smoothly across my lips. The consistency was lightweight and fluid, and it felt wet initially but then seemed to get a bit tacky and thicker, though not heavy or glue-like at all. This shade applied beautifully, particularly compared to some of the others I tried in the same formula, and it smoothed out my lip lines. It lasted well for six hours and had a strong stain that wore for another two to three hours. It seemed to keep my lips hydrated for the most part.

Well, we finally have a winner! Woo-hoo! Rouge Vinyle is perfectly lovely. The wear also sounds pretty impressive, especially for when one may not have many opportunities to touch up their lip color. Obviously, I love it, but probably shouldn’t add yet o
I am rather surprised at the scores for some of these YSL lippies. I have three I think and Rose Mix is one of them. I used a balm underneath when I first purchased because I thought they might dry down and be uncomfortable but they don’t so I don’t really need the balm but wonder if that is helping my application as I haven’t had any issues with pigmentation, opacity or clumping up. I rather like the formula but maybe I was lucky and got a better product than you did, Christine. I am able to apply mine with one swipe and no issues.
It’s really strange – I expected them to work just fine, but only a couple were decent for me!
Lovely rich colors, all of them. However, it’s a pity the quality is so variable even item to item within a single line, and all the more given the (former?) glamour of the brand. This is why I generally shy away from YSL counters — no impulse shopping there; and, there are too many more reliable brands out there.
I normally have pretty good luck with YSL’s lip products, so this was a surprise!
Another HE brand that could do better, although Rouge Vinyle is lovely.
These look and sound SO similar to the new Dior Lacquer Plump line!! I really love the shade Glitterati. You should give them a try Christine! The glittery shades are the best.
I love these hybrid lip formula’s, my favorite so far is Ecatasy Laquer by Armani in 101. Quick question for the Rouge Remix,; is the stain that’s left behind red, berry, or orange toned?
Warmer red!
