Most used product of the week: Strobe Cosmetics Oracle
Any new beauty discoveries: not this week
Skin Tone/Coloring: Light neutral skin tone, green eyes, dark hair with silver
Favorite Look Worn: A mostly neutral look with bright blue lashes!
MAC eyeshadows (Grain on lid, Blanc Type on brow bone, Kid in crease, Coquette on outer V), Marc Jacobs Highliners (Overnight tightlined into upper lashes, In the Buff on lower waterline), YSL Vinyl Couture Mascara in I’m the Trouble on top and bottom lashes, Bare Minerals BarePro Performance Wear Foundation in Sateen, RCMA No Color Powder, NARS Orgasm Blush, and Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Mademoiselle. Plus my everyday products: Clinique Brow Shaper, ABH Brow Wiz, and Tarte Shape Tape Concealer.
Most Used Products: (other than my everyday products) NARS Orgasm Blush and Marc Jacobs Highliners in various shades
Beauty Discovery: Pastel lavender shades look pretty on my eyes, but awful on my lips!
My skin tone/coloring: Medium w/ olive undertones MAC NC37, Lancome Teint Idole Foundation N360, deep brunette, blue-green eyes w/ gold flecks.
Favorite look you worn: Using the purple and darker brown shades in MAC x Aaliyah Age Ain’t Nothing palette, I did one stunning deep purple hued smokey eye last Saturday, I used MAC Haux eyeshadow to blend out any harsh edges. Then, on cheeks, I used Baby Girl with Essence Satin Love blush over it, and that gave me a gorgeous golden, rosy cheek. That bronzer on its own does not really show up on me as anything other than gold flecks of shimmer. But it DOES transform my blush into a bronzey shade! Weird! On lips. I wore Nevermore liner, More Than A Woman lipstick in an ombre, with 1 In A Million lipglass. I honestly *felt* beautiful for a change!
Most used product of the week: Anything and everything Aaliyah for MAC! Oh, plus 2 consecutive looks using UD Born To Run palette, too!
Any new beauty discoveries: That having this rather dull neutral medium olive skintone can be a good thing? I can look great in a rich, deep burgundy lip one day, and can rock a glossy metallic orange lip on another (UD Wildfire topped with a little bit of Nars Orgasm Lip Gloss) . And look equally as good! So while, no, I cannot do cool gray, blue-grass or super warm tones either, there’s still plenty to pick from. I’m not mad at it anymore!
I am pretty sure Nancy that your makeup is impeccible and that you would look fabulous with either burgundy or deep orange shades on your lips. Whilst I can do the cool gray shades, I can’t do the rich purples that would look stunning on you.
I think you are more beautiful than 99.9% of women your age!
You are kind beyond words, Genevieve! Thank you!
I think you’re beautiful all the time. Your makeup sounds amazing, though!
Aww, thank you, Rachel! I think my biggest problem is convincing myself of that. Unfortunately, I get to see my very uneven skintone, gappy yellowish teeth, etc. in my mirror. My dad always said that if one ever wanted to feel really horrible about their looks, just go look at themselves in a lit magnifying mirror!
Skin tone: Very fair with cool undertones. In the neighborhood of MAC NW 5-10. I have deep brown eyes and grey hair.
Favorite look worn this week: I haven’t done a lot of very interesting looks this week but my favorite and one that got a lot of compliments was using Fenty Sand Castle over the mobile lid and up into the lower crease. I then used Pur Cosmetics Night Fantasy palette and with a matte warm stone color I blew out the upper crease and then darkened the outer V with the deepest brown in the palette. I have been using Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet Foundation trying to determine how best to use it as I think I will be taking it to Europe with me in the fall. My favorite foundation is a two part mixer type that comes in bulky packaging so while I love it I don’t want to sacrifice valuable space to the metal/heavy plastic container that it comes in so want to figure out what proportion of white mixer to add, what primer works best, etc. The lightest shade is a bit too yellow on me and the next darker shade which has the right undertone is too dark. I prefer to get the undertone right and then work on the shade. I have just ordered the CYO Lifeproof Foundation in their second lightest shade and if it works for me and I like the formula then I may use that. Anyway, for blush I used Jill Stuart blush in shade 03, highlight was Dior Diorskin Nude Air in shade 02, Guerlain Meteorites in 02 Claire, mascara was my new favorite combination. I start with Dior Iconic Overcurl then follow that with Lancome Hypnose Drama and lastly Cover Girl Super Sizer in the waterproof formula. I used MAC Viva Glam 1 for lipstick. All in all, it was a simple look but one that worked for me and it was all about the skin and the lips.
Most used product of the week: Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet and the 3 mascaras that I have been using and loving.
New beauty discoveries: Nothing really this week.
I am pretty sure that you are going to find some heavenly beauty treats when you are in Europe. Check out Kiko – that’s a great brand.
My skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Favorite look you wore: I actually used BRONZER one day this past week. I think it was TF Chocolate Soleil but it might have been an IT one. Large brush and dusted lightly all over my face and it made me look healthy. I was amazed. I used IT Blush and Givenchy Fuchsia lipstick, Stila Chinois on my mobile lid and KvD Saleos (I think that’s the one – the cool, taupe-y shade from the palette) in my crease and Marc Jacobs Brown(out) pencil to line.
Most used product of the week: La Roche Posay sunscreen and mineral water spray
Any new beauty discoveries: just what a very light application of bronzer can do to how quickly and easily I can do my makeup and how healthy I can look.
Skin tone/coloring: Light medium, neutral undertones
Favorite look worn: I went to a wedding last week so I got to play with some brights that I would not normally wear together, inspired by Christine’s blue green look last week. I used Kryolan Viva Brilliant Color in iridescent lime in my crease, Tarteist Metallic Shadow in Dark Seas (navy) on my outer lid, Nyx Prismatic Eyeshadow in Jaded in the middle lid and Mermaid in the inner corner. I used the Dark Seas under my lower lashline. I tightlined with Stila liner in Black Rose and wore one coat of Tarteist Lash Paint mascara and one coat of Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara. The Lash Paint doesn’t do much by itself but works as a second coat because the brush separated my lashes.
Most used product this week: Nyx Prismatic eyeshadows in Jaded and Mermaid. They work well with my teal blue eyeglass frames.
New beauty discoveries: Amaterasu brow pen in Brunette. It is easy to paint on hairlike strokes and the color has no red in it. It stays on all day.
My skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones
Favourite look you worn: Amber from the Lorac Pro Palette on the whole lid, with graphite on the lower lid and a hint of the Rose Gold in the corners. I paired it with my EA lipstick Cayene Pearl.
Most used product of the week: I forgot to say in Haul yesterday that I did purchase the DB’s Velvet Matte foundation and I have been using it every day this week. I really like the finish and the shade match (Porcelain Ivory) is perfect. The foundation dries down pretty quickly so you have to be quick to blend it all in. However it does last all day, which is great.
Any new beauty discoveries: The Designer Brands (DB) makeup line – cruelty free and mostly vegan. So far, so good.
Also, I pulled out Naked 2 this week and was reminded about how beautiful the shades are and I do like the mix of warm and cool tones.
Sometimes I hate technology so bad!! I had written a comment and as I was finishing it I must have touched some button but the whole thing disappeared. So frustrating. Anyway, I saw your mention of Naked 2 and it reminded me that I haven’t pulled mine out and used it recently so I am going to do that tomorrow. I saw your comment on finding makeup brands in Europe and I have Neve and Kiko on my list. I hadn’t heard of Neve before and somehow ended up subscribed to their Instagram. Probably followed a link from someone, anyway, they have some very pretty products but I don’t really know anything about their quality. I contacted them to try and find out where I could buy their products in Europe, after I had filled a cart on-line and tried to check out. A message came up telling me that they didn’t ship to my postal code. Turns out they don’t ship out of EU. So I asked them what stores they were in and they were pretty vague and said they could be found “just about everywhere”. So, we will see if I find them. If you or anyone else knows of brands to look out for I would love any suggestions. I am a little fearful that I will find a brand or a particular product and fall in love and then not ever be able to purchase again. Oh well, it just means I would have to go back!!
Skin tone/coloring: light to medium, neutral slightly warm
Favorite look you worn: I have used two different foundation colors! AND IT WORKS! I have dark sun spots on the center of my cheeks and my cheekbones and I need correcting and a darker color of foundation , but my forehead, chin, and under my cheekbones are light in color, so I use two different colors and blend where they are connected. It was my last experiment /chance, to avoid having a different face and body color, or having a grey face. Also eye makeup using, MAC Uninterrupted pro long wear eyeshadow with MAC True Chartreuse pigment on the center of my eyelid.
Most used product of the week: MAC RiRi Woo lipstick with mascara on the eyes only.
Any new beauty discoveries: Benefit ChaCha tint mixed with a drop of jojoba oil, beautiful natural looking cheeks.
My skin tone/coloring: Light/warm, NC15/MUFE Y225, hazel eyes, dark brown hair.
Favorite look you worn: MUFE “Free Burgundy” Artist Colour Pencil as eyeliner along with cake liner to tight-line, Essence “Satin Love” blush, RMS Living Luminizer in inner corners and cheekbones, Bite Beauty Chai.
Most used product of the week: Bite Beauty Chai Amuse Bouche (Sephora birthday gift.)
Any new beauty discoveries: Bite Beauty Chai. I picked up Bite Toasted Cardamon and Hot Harrisa (which I love) as well as the birthday gift, but I have been convinced for ages that Chai would look deadening on me. To my surprise it is so flattering on me. It’s a MLBB/warm, lively brown that is perfect for work/everyday. I am finding more and more that the touch of olive in my skin tone means I need a bit of brown in my lipstick colours.
My skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes
Favorite look you worn: EYES — UD Primer Potion in Enigma. Crease to outer corner gradient, in the crease and bottom lid: Sugarpill Buttercupcake (inner end), SauceBox Daffodil, MUFE Artist Shadow in Tangerine, and SauceBox Roxanne (outer end). Matte violet (lid), matte burgundy (outer V of lid, true crease).
Most used product of the week: Physician’s Formula Murumuru Butter Blush in Vintage Rouge
Any new beauty discoveries: None this week
