Periwinkle (Bright Editorial #8)

Viseart Periwinkle (Bright Editorial #8) Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a muted, light-medium blue with subtle, cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. There was barely-there pearl that seemed to help blend out the eyeshadow but didn’t change it from a matte finish when applied to the eye. The texture was soft, a smidgen drier with light dustiness in the pan, but it applied well, blended out without difficulty, and wasn’t prone to fallout. It had buildable pigmentation that ranged from semi-opaque to opaque (two layers). It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours on me before I noticed fading.

Formula Overview

-

The eyeshadow formula is supposed to be "pigment[ed]" with "smooth and even application" that is "long-lasting." The matte shades are typically semi-opaque to opaque but buildable with soft, velvety textures that can sometimes be a little powdery or slightly firm, depending on the shade. I find that the mattes are often best suited to someone who likes control over pigmentation and may prefer to build up color; they regularly perform better in practice than just swatched on the arm as well.

The shimmer shades range from satin to metallic, and the more metallic shades tend to feel creamier to the touch, while the satin ones have a fine pearl to them that looks almost melted on the lid once blended out. Both the mattes and shimmers are blendable and easy to work with. Most of Viseart's eyeshadows wear between seven and nine hours on me.

Azure (Bright Editorial #12)

Viseart Azure (Bright Editorial #12) Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a deep, slightly muted blue with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a soft, slightly drier texture that was a bit dusty in the pan, but it applied evenly and blended out without difficulty. It was one of those mattes that performed better in practice than swatched on my arm. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

Sky (Cool Mattes 2 #7)

Viseart Sky (Cool Mattes 2 #7) Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a pale, muted blue with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had buildable pigmentation from semi-opaque to opaque, and it seemed to be a bit more pigmented when I worked with it on my eye than when swatched on my arm. The consistency was soft to the touch but somewhat powdery and had a touch of fallout during application. It lasted well for eight hours before there was visible fading.

Bougainvillea (Grande Pro (Vol. 1) #20)

Viseart Bougainvillea (Grande Pro (Vol. 1) #20) Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium-dark purple with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had buildable pigmentation from semi-opaque to opaque (two layers) with a slightly drier, firmer consistency, but it was actually softer and more blendable than the version I encountered in the GPV1 palette. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Calypso (GPV2 #15)

Viseart Calypso (Grande Pro (Vol. 2) #15) Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a bright, pinky plum with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling sheen. It had rich pigmentation with a smooth, blendable consistency that wasn’t too firmly nor too loosely pressed in the pan. It was one of the best Viseart eyeshadows released in the GPV2 palette, and it remained true in the single pan version! It wore nicely for eight and a half hours on me before fading a bit.

Chocolate

Viseart Chocolate Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium-dark, chocolaty brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. There have been a few releases of this, and I think they perform more similarly in practice but swatch differently. The single version felt slightly dusty and sheered out a bit initially, but it built up well and blended out without difficulty (whereas some of the palette versions have adhered better to my arm in addition to performing well on my eye). It lasted well for eight and a half hours before I noticed fading.

Mocha (Warm Mattes #11)

Viseart Mocha (Warm Mattes #11) Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a light-medium brown with muted, subtly warm undertones and a matte finish. It had buildable pigmentation from a little over medium to mostly opaque on my skin, and it didn’t adhere as well to bare skin as the shade in my Warm Mattes palette. The eyeshadow was easy to work with, though, as the product built up well without fallout, blended out nicely, and stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.
