Urban Decay x Kristen Leanne Daydream Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Daydream
Urban Decay Daydream Kristen Leanne Eyeshadow Palette ($26.00 for 0.10 oz.) is an all-matte, warm neutral palette housed cardboard packaging and comes with a dual-ended brush. There were five shades, and all five performed fairly well as they were blendable, long-wearing, and pigmented. For the right person, I could see it being a workhorse palette or work well as a complement to an all-shimmer palette.

Lucy
Lucy is a light and bright white with neutral-to-cool undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow was richly pigmented with a soft, lightly powdery texture. It was prone to sheering out when blended, so it was hard to keep opaque coverage without a lightly tacky base underneath it. It blended out nicely and didn’t seem to turn other colors gray, which can occur with lighter shades like this. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me before I saw signs of fading.

The formula is typically described as "high-pigment" that "stays on your lids" and goes on "seamlessly." Their permanent range has a lot of fantastic shades in it, and many of them are pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. Some of their matte are real workhorse kind of shades with soft, smooth, silky, and blendable textures, while their shimmers and pearly shades are very rich in payoff and apply beautifully to the lid. They wear between seven and nine hours on me, depending on the shade and finish.

Daydream
Daydream is a light brown with warm, golden undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was oapque in a single layer, while the eyeshadow felt smooth, velvety, and wasn’t too powdery nor too firmly pressed in the pan. It applied evenly to my lid and blended out nicely. It wore well for eight hours before fading slightly.

12/12
12/12 is a medium coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation with a soft, lightly dusty texture that was blendable and substantial enough to apply evenly to bare skin and not turn patchy. This shade lasted well for eight hours on me.

Eight
Eight is a deep brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The color payoff was nearly opaque in a single layer, and it was buildable to full coverage with a second layer. The texture was more powdery and prone to kicking up excess product in the pan, so it was imperative to tap off the excess to avoid fallout during application. It blended out fairly easily and stayed on well for eight hours before fading.

I was on the fence about it because it looked boring and repetitive. Okay, maybe it is still repetitive but I love UD and I prefer mattes and your swatches look amazing, so I went ahead and purchased it from UD.
I’m waiting for your review on the other palette in this collection. I love the colors but the layout is really off-putting to my minimalist sensibilities. If it get a similar glowing review, I might have to make another UD purchase.
I’m still on the fence about this. Swatches look good. Thanks for your thoughts on this one!
WOW very surprised at how vivid these colors showed up on you considering how dull the palette looks.
I want some cool palettes! Oh well, at least my wallet’s happy. Still, I’m always glad to see a good review!
I absolutely loved the look you did with this palette. I am quite surprised it getting less than an A, since they look great on your lid!
Urban Decay named an eyeshadow “Subscribe”? What happened to beauty with an edge??!!
No shade, I love Urban Decay – maybe it’s a good thing they’re looking outside the Urban Dictionary for shade names
Its a youtubers collection, I’m guessing why its named that. I’m wonder where the other names came from though. 12/12 is her birthday. I need to watch the video again, I found it on her channel.
Kristin named the shades not UD, lol. As a youtuber she always says subscribe to her channel.
Decent quality. Useful shades. However, with the lone exception of 12:12, I’m not seeing any must-haves that would fill a gap in my existing neutral matte eyeshadows. As for 12:12, yes, I’m searching my stash for something similar, and coming up empty handed!
I love the eye look you did! This is a pretty palette, but I passed on it. I have these kinds of colors in so many other palettes.
Am I the only one who feels like this looks more like a Colourpop palette than an UD product with that cardboard packaging and the styling? Honestly, even the colors… I feel like for $26 I expect more… this is a big pass for me
The packing is old school UD style and it they made it that way to keep the price down. I think if it was in fancier packaging, people would be complaining it’s too expensive, cant make everyone happy. I love the price point, the quality and the colors. 🙂
I guess it is true that there was a generation of UD palettes that were cardboard, but I don’t remember there being an era with this sort of flowers and pink aesthetic which in combination with the color scheme felt very much like Colourpop to me. When I think of oldschool UD I think of the original metal packaging when the liners still came in test-tubes… but I also worked for the brand back when they still had counters in Nordstroms in the late 1990’s, and I think that was when the brand was at its best. I guess that is the good thing about makeup, something for everyone… for me this is a pass, but I’m sure this will be a must have for a lot of people, and that is great!
I think kristen designed the packing and UD just went with it but the flowers are pretty,l lol. I don’t have colour pop or Toofaced palettes, so I lover this palette and ordered it. It must of been cool working for th brand when it edgy for its time. My first palettes were BOS 2 and Alice in wonderland.
Lucy is my favorite shade in there! Nice pigment though.
Personally, this palette is definitely not for me – those pinky shades. But as you’ve said Christine, they could work well on the right person as a matte set for all those sparkly, glittery metalled palettes. As far as mattes go, these are pretty good.
Your eye look here is just so beautiful, Christine! I decided to try to copy it with it with my Kat Von D Saint & Sinner Palette: Sacred Heart over inner 1/2 of mobile lid, Worship over outer 1/2 of mobile lid, Relic in center of lid, deepen outer V with Exorcism, transition with Devil, line lower lash line with Vestment and smoke out with Exodus, and highlight inner tear duct and brow bone with Absolution. It wasn’t exactly the same but it did turn out lovely. Thank you for the inspiration!
I am so not interested in these colors, they are so done.
Though I’m complete on matte warm neutrals, I’d use this a lot — perfect size for travel. It’s not compelling enough for me to order it, but I’ll keep an eye out for it in-store.
Could your eye look pics have gotten mixed up with the other palette from the collection? These look like the brighter colors in the larger palette. https://www.temptalia.com/sneak-peek-urban-decay-x-kristen-leanne-collection-photos-swatches/
Please click “Look Details,” as I used both palettes.
Ah! Thanks for the clarification! I was wondering why the look on your lids looked so much more interesting than the shades in the palette, haha. The different palettes do work well together.
This looks like it would be a great palette for the spring! I love the pop of coral, even though I’m not sure how often I would use it!
I can see this palette ending up at 50% off quite soon. I might consider it then.
Good prediction. Just got a 50% off one from sephora. Thought it would be a good travel/purse set. The 3 middle shades all go quite orangey on me though. So I can’t create many different looks. Eight is nice.
I want that coral shade now! ?
Oh I love that I can rely on you for a review! I came here right away. I love these colors, but it’s only available online for me, I can’t check out the palette in store. Thanks for the in-depth information, and superb images.
I purchased this a few days ago and I have been playing around with it. I’m sad to say that I am not happy with any of the looks that I have created with it. I just can’t seem to get it to blend into a beautiful creation. I’m kind of sad but I will definitely keep working with it to see if I can pull off anything.
What shades are you having trouble with Pamela?
The last two colors, subscribe and eight. Mostly 8 though. I feel like I’m over blending it to get the shade that I want and then it ends up just Blended out completely or just smoked out.
Hmm, have you tried applying less and building/blending to get to the level you want?
Hi Christine,
Yes, I’ve been working with them on my days off because I don’t have a lot of time in the mornings before work and I’m actually starting to like it more. I have to be extra light-handed and I use a smaller brush and blend out with a fluffier brush. I think I like it overall.
Oh, I’m so glad that it’s been working better for you, Pamela! UD is lucky you gave ’em more chances!
