Sin

Urban Decay Sin Afteglow Cheek Palette ($39.00 for 0.84 oz.) is a new, limited edition six-pan cheek palette that includes three blushes and three highlighters. Within the palette, there are three shades that are new (Kiss Off, PSA, and Spotlight) are new and the other three are from the brand’s permanent range. I find that Urban Decay’s cheek products tend to be quite pigmented, though they are supposed to be sheerer and more buildable, so as long as one is comfortable with more pigmented cheek products and has need for the shades in this palette, I could see it working out well.

Kiss Off

Kiss Off is a soft, light-medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and an ultra-fine, pearl shimmer finish. It had medium coverage that was buildable to mostly opaque pigmentation (and the formula is actually supposed to be sheerer and more buildable). The texture was soft, a touch dusty, but it blended out well on my skin and was easy to work with. It lasted for eight hours on me.

Formula Overview

$26.00/0.23 oz. - $113.04 Per Ounce

Urban Decay’s describes their powder blush formula as having “buildable color” with a “blendable, finely milled” texture that will wear for “eight long hours.” A lot of the shades have semi-sheer to semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation but a few have been more pigmented than buildable, though a lighter hand is always one route to take to get sheerer coverage if that's a must-have.

The texture of the blushes is smooth, silky, and finely-milled with a thinness that gave me pause initially, but it translated to a beautiful, satiny finish on my skin that was natural and lightly luminous. The majority of shades I've tried in the range are blendable, easy to use, and wear for eight hours.

Score

Score is a soft, light-medium pink with warm undertones and flecks of gold sparkle. I found it to be a little pinker than my permanent version if it. The texture was blendable but on the drier side, and I felt like there was some excess product that kicked up in the pan even when I tried to avoid that. It had semi-sheer, buildable pigmentation that stayed on well for seven and a half hours on me.

Paranoid

Paranoid is a muted, medium brown with warm undertones and a golden sheen. It had semi-opaque color payoff that was buildable to full coverage. The consistency was soft, a smidgen dry in the pan, but I had no trouble picking it up with my brush and diffusing the color on my skin. It wore well for eight hours on me.

PSA

PSA is a rich, rosy brown with warm, reddish undertones and a metallic finish. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, moderately dense texture that wasn’t too firm nor too thick in the pan, so it picked up well with a brush. The highlighter was very metlalic, and it seemed to emphasize my skin’s natural texture just slightly. The color stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Ingredients

Isoeicosane, Silica, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Zinc Stearate, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Polypropylsilsesquioxane, Polyisobutene, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Hexylene Glycol, Methicone, Aluminum Hydroxide, Tin Oxide, Laureth-4. Spotlight

Spotlight is a soft, light-medium peach with warm, golden undertones and a metallic sheen. The pigmentation was nearly opaque in a single layer, though the texture was soft and yielding enough that I could feasibly use a lighter hand with it for sheerer coverage… but I would not describe it as sheer as the brand intended. The texture was smooth and soft to the touch without being powdery. The highlighter lasted for eight hours on me.

Ingredients

Isoeicosane, Silica, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Zinc Stearate, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Polypropylsilsesquioxane, Polyisobutene, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Hexylene Glycol, Methicone, Aluminum Hydroxide, Tin Oxide, Laureth-4. Sin

Sin is a light, champagne gold with warm, yellow undertones and a metallic finish. The highlighter was quite pigmented, while the consistency was dense and lightly creamy, so it wasn’t stiff or challenging to work with. It applied evenly on my skin and blended out with ease. This shade wore well for eight hours on me.

Ugh, this is why I hate cheek palettes. I love Spotlight and Score and would be able to work with Sin, Kiss Off, and Paranoid, but PSA is way too dark to work on me as a highlighter or highlighting blush. I can’t justify buying a palette if I won’t be able to use one whole shade. I hope they make the shades from this into singles.

Autumn Avatar

They’re now on sale for $19.99 at Ulta, that’s why I got mine. I love sin, and would pay more just for that. The two dark shades I can’t work with and the blush is ehhh on me. I actually use one to contour. For $20 it’s worth it! See if your store or online still has them! They also had the priming potion eyelid primer on sale for $12 ($24) so I grabbed those too! Good luck girl!

Susan Avatar

This looks really good! I think I’d use all the shades, and sometimes if I can’t get a highlighter shade to work on my cheeks, I use it on my eyes (I know you’re not supposed to, but occasionally I live dangerously). Wonder if this will go on sale as fast as most UD palettes lately? Thanks for review & swatches!

AngelicMariposa Avatar

Is Sin highlighter going to become the Midnight Cowboy of highlighter palettes?? Can we do something a little different, like maybe making X eyeshadow in to a highlight??`

Nancy Roman Avatar

You may want to correct the product title from Afteglow to Afterglow. Check the spelling on the product itself. Not criticizing you… it’s easy to do, and I LOVE your site.

dzymzlzy Avatar

You are so not stupid, Christine! You put out a huge body of work every single day there are always going to be typos but we’re all smart enough to figure out what you meant.

Genevieve Avatar

If only UD offered this with duos and then the anyone can pick the shades that suit them the most.
Or if the blush section was sold separately to the bronzer section…they are all pretty but I don’t think one skintone could successfully use all shades.

Christine Avatar

Hi Maggie,

It sounds like the formula and your skin type / base products don’t work well, so I’d just avoid the palette rather than attempt to make it work for you? It doesn’t make sense to me to buy it if you know it doesn’t last on you!

Maggie Avatar

You are right of course! I have four of these and it always applies true-to-pan but then a couple of hours later, it’s either gone or completely different. Which is sad, Rapture and TMI are favorites that aren’t easy to dupe!

We try to approve comments within 24 hours (and reply to them within 72 hours) but can sometimes get behind and appreciate your patience! 🙂 If you have general feedback, product review requests, off-topic questions, or need technical support, please contact us directly. Thank you for your patience!
