Naked Petite Heat

Urban Decay Naked Petite Heat 6-Pan Naked Eyeshadow Palette ($29.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a new, travel-friendly warm-toned palette with five mattes and one shimmer. It launches on February 22nd on urbandecay.com and will be in-stores the first week of March.

I liked the palette, but I didn’t love it; the shades didn’t come together as distinctively on the lid as I thought they would. It was less the quality and more the ability to create more than one or two looks out of it (that didn’t look too same-same).

Inhale

Inhale is light beige with warm, yellow undertones and a satin sheen. The texture was somewhat powdery in the pan, but it seemed to apply well to bare skin without sheering out too readily. It had opaque pigmentation and blended out nicely. It wore well for eight hours.

Formula Overview

$19.00/0.05 oz. - $380.00 Per Ounce

The formula is typically described as "high-pigment" that "stays on your lids" and goes on "seamlessly." Their permanent range has a lot of fantastic shades in it, and many of them are pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. Some of their matte are real workhorse kind of shades with soft, smooth, silky, and blendable textures, while their shimmers and pearly shades are very rich in payoff and apply beautifully to the lid. They wear between seven and nine hours on me, depending on the shade and finish.

Vibrate

Vibrate is a light, peachy brown with warm undertones and matte finish. It was moderately powdery and a bit prone to sheering out with some fallout during application. The pigmentation was semi-opaque and buildable over primer but not on bare skin. It wore well for seven hours on me before fading.

Hot Spell

Hot Spell is a light-medium brown with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. It had good color payoff with a soft, blendable consistency that was just a bit powdery in the pan. The color stayed on well for eight hours.

Wild Thing

Wild Thing is a bright, medium-dark orange with warm, rusty undertones and a matte finish. It had rich pigmentation that applied evenly and smoothly on the lid. The powder felt smooth, velvety, and blended out easily. This shade started to fade on me after eight hours of wear.

Heist

Heist is a medium-dark brown with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation that was buildable to opaque coverage with just a touch more. The consistency was a little dry to the touch, but it blended out easily in practice. This shade lasted for eight hours on me.

Strike (Heat)

Strike (Heat) is deep, plummy brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was drier–almost grainy–but it blended out nicely on the lid. I noticed that the top layer seemed a bit drier and the rest was smoother, too. The color started to fade on me after eight hours.

It is pretty but I developed sensisitivity to red pigment eye shadows. I have to be careful with very warm browns and oranges that lean red, my eyes turn an itchy watery mess…

I do enjoy both Naked basics palettes I have, but those are safe. Might still get this one for my daughter. 🙂

Allie Avatar

Aw, that’s a bummer! Pretty eye looks, Christine!

I was considering this one as the original Heat is a little intense on my fair complexion and I love the Naked2 Basics palette.

AB Avatar

Money saved — thank you! Not knowing the in-store timing, I had an eye out for this this morning, and now with the so so review I am glad I didn’t find it

Katie Avatar

I always like the idea of these smaller palettes for travel, but when I have at least 4 dupes of every shade, I just can’t justify buying it for the sake of convenience (especially if performance isn’t spectacular).

Ginny Avatar

I really like it ::sheepishlook:: I know we all have WTF (Warm Tone Fatigue) but I haven’t purchased any of the recent warm toned palettes and this appeals to me for its ease of use. I really super love my Naked 2 Basics so I can see liking this. That said, I do have some warm MUFE matte singles, so I probably shouldn’t jump on this just yet. I don’t wear orange and red tones on a daily basis.

Genevieve Avatar

Whilst not a fan of these shades, I can see how it would be a companion to Naked Basics 1 & 2, plus complement Naked Heat. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of contrast between a few of the shades either, but that was also a problem for the Heat palette as well.
Beautiful eye look Christine.

joy Avatar

i feel like naked heat had the same same look problem too. too bad they didn’t fix that with the petite. i usually prefer to travel with a more neutral palette so this it’ll be an easy pass for me.

p.s. can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the star lit palette & i’ve been loving the best brushes for x series. i love how detailed it is and how you include usage!

Betty Avatar

I think if they’d come out with this much sooner there would be a lot more interest in it. A little late in the day for more of these colors for many of us.

Indie Beauty Babe Avatar

With the over saturation of warm-toned palettes, I really don’t know if I’m going to get this. The look and size is perfect! Though I’m sure everyone and their neighbors already have at least 3 similar palettes already.

andie Avatar

I bought mine and had to return it. It’s chalky and dry. Maybe that’s just cause I bought it in Europe, but I wouldn’t recommend this.
