Urban Decay Daenerys Targaryen & White Walker Vice Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Daenerys Targaryen
Urban Decay Daenerys Targaryen Vice Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a bright, medium red with subtle, cool undertones and a pearly, lightly metallic finish. It had good color coverage that adhered evenly to my lips with a smooth, drag-free application. The consistency was lightly emollient with a touch of tackiness, which gave it good glide but kept it from sliding around during wear. The color sat well on my lips and didn’t emphasize my lip lines–it seemed to smooth out several of them, actually. The color stayed on nicely for five and a half hours and was moisturizing over time.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.11 oz.) is available in six finishes, which are primarily distinguished by level of sheen, shimmer content, and coverage. I didn't notice any scent or taste. Mega Mattes are the thinnest and have the most “cling” as they are drier and more matte (but most are semi-matte and not a totally flat matte) and can be drying, though they are longer-wearing.
Comfort Mattes are creamier, a little denser, with richer color payoff on average (they are the most pigmented out of the finishes), and have a satin finish that is fairly comfortable to wear, usually lightly hydrating, and longer-wearing.
Creams are usually softer and creamier, though not too soft (they don’t mush or break from the base easily), with some being tackier and stiffer in the tube until they warm up against the lips; they have good color payoff, are hydrating, and are comfortable to wear but have more typical wear (four to six hours–six hours for deeper/richer shades like a red).
Sheers and Sheer Shimmers have a more balm-like consistency that feels a little thinner but is wetter/more emollient than Mega Mattes, so ultimately, they feel quite different applied; they have sheerer coverage, though more semi-sheer to semi-opaque than very sheer, and have the shortest wear time at two to fours with light hydration.
Metallized is the most shimmery of the finishes, though some of the other finishes have shades that are actually as shimmery (to me), but the Metallized formula has a thinner, more emollient base that isn’t as dense or as cream-like as the Creams; they feel more like the Sheers but a bit heavier and more pigmented (but seem to run semi-opaque to opaque, not always fully opaque) with average wear (four to five hours), light hydration.

Daenerys Targaryen
LELimited Edition. $18.00.
White Walker
Urban Decay White Walker Vice Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a medium-dark burgundy-red with neutral undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque pigmententation that was slightly buildable but was never quite opaque, even after two full layers. The texture was lightly creamy, a touch tacky but glided across my lips without dragging, and didn’t emphasize my lip lines despite going on somewhat patchily. It wore well for six hours, left a berry-like stain behind, and was lightly hydrating over time.

The Dani lipstick looks so lovely! Thank you for getting these reviews out so fast!
The recent releases of Disney Villains and Game of Thrones makeup lines has made me do some self-analysis. As a big fan of Disney, I was somewhat dismayed that there was nothing in that line that seriously interested me, and I kept going back and looking at the products as if maybe I’d suddenly see something I’d missed.
On the other hand, as someone who is not a fan of Game of Thrones, I haven’t looked twice at any of these products, even if there were some interesting shades. And now here I am looking at the gorgeous Daenerys Targaryen (whatever that means) lipstick and not feeling any temptation at all…simply because I’m not a Game of Thrones fan! Ok, if this exact same shade was packaged as Disney, I’d be drooling. So what does this say about me as a consumer? I’ve got to seriously rethink my buying habits!
same here! i love the books and like the show and even though i’m only really interested in two of the eyeliners, i keep looking, hoping something with the fun packaging will convince me i want it.
I think it says you’re a discerning consumer! There’s plenty of gorgeous lipsticks out there, so you might as well hold out for one that is beautiful and either doesn’t have special branding or is tied in with a media property or celeb you really like!
You’re absolutely right, AJ, I need to stay away from special branding. The last Disney makeup product I bought was the It’s a Princess Thing eye palette and I never use it. I just got all excited because it was Disney. I obviously need to be a lot more discerning!!
What I need to remember is that there are 100+ gorgeous lipsticks already in my collection, so in reality, I don’t need to buy anymore lipsticks for a long, long time. Just need to shop my stash.
Really? I think White Walker looks just like the CP Ursula I just got. Which is good, so now I don’t need this one. Also, never watched one episode of GOT…
I might need that Daenerys color… I’m a sucker for a good cool-toned red, and for a good shimmery lipstick.
Dani will be mine ! It’s beautiful and I love the packaging . I know I’ll buy it although I have enough red lipstick to last a lifetime .
Dany’s lipstick is a perfect shade for House Targaryen, because the red dragons on the family crest. An added plus? I love how the shimmer gives it a fiery ember type of glow!
White Walkers is obviously a shade I would go for, haha! However, I see a missed opportunity here. I would have loved to have seen something far more icy. Like a teal blue shimmer emanating from blue-gray or deep greigey grungy lilac type base.
Same about wishing for a greige-y lilac for white walker! I’d buy that one!
Those two lipsticks are stunning – absolutely gorgeous.
Dany’s looks wonderful, but White Walker… wtf? That color does not evince anything of the White Walkers.
