Urban Decay 24/7 Shadow ($19.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a new, reformulated powder eyeshadow (seemed largely reformulated to make all shades vegan as well as changing the assortment of shades). I’m missing one shade–Lucid–which wasn’t in stock when I went to purchase.

Urban Decay 24/7 Moondust Shadow ($19.00 for 0.06 oz.) is also part of the relaunch, which now has a core range of five shades (all recognizable from the original launch).

Can’t pop out to fit in magnetic palettes, can’t fit in the old aluminum quads…I guess their shadows are going to be floating around loose in makeup drawers.

What a strange change. I feel like most users buy singles to make little custom palettes. Even their old ones had that feature but with bulky packaging. I see no reason to try these now. I’m not going to have a bunch of singles that can’t be streamlined to fit into a single palette

Maggie Avatar

I’m in complete agreement. I remember the UD packaging from before where you HAVE to depot it to make your own custom packaging and there is NO WAY I’m doing that again when I can get other vegan shadows at a fraction of the cost of a single UD shadow.

These look… amazing? Why did they bother with their last several launches when they had this gorgeousness in the pipeline?? Doesn’t fix their pricing issue where you can buy one of their own palettes for the price of 2-3 singles and there was nothing wrong with their packaging before, but the colors and quality here look fantastic.

Lots of these look like good quality (but Fix, oof). I’m hoping these perform as well as they swatch. Singles make a lot of sense nowadays since many folks aren’t able to spend as much on luxury items like full on palettes.

Again. some of these look really good – like Ember, Float, Pysch – some look paler shades of themselves – like Half Baked (my very first favourite gold shade). I am hoping they all turn out to be the same, if not better versions of their previous selves, but I am not holding my breath on this one.

Except for the lightest shades, these do look good! Most of them are really really warm. Chaos looks to be deeper than the eyeliner with the same name but I still like it.
Mushroom is my favorite one, great for a one and done look!

Tease is my favorite here. As someone else said I do wish they were a little cheaper. Maybe even as much as $15? Why should I care about a reformulation if it’s the same price and I still can’t buy the pan-only nor do they pop out.

This launch actually looks the most promising coming from UD. The last few years has been disappointing but hopefully this one is good! I’m actually very excited about the packaging. The swatches looks more promising than their recent palette releases.

Hm. The quality looks like it’s there for a lot of the shades but I feel like these are all things that can be duped fairly easily. When I first became aware of Urban Decay, the thing that made them stand out was their ability to come up with really original colours. I know that that’s almost impossible to do with all the options available now but I’m surprised that they didn’t at least try to incorporate some more duochrome or colour-shifting shades in the assortment.

Zoe Avatar

Exactly, UD used to have more unique offerings compared to other brands. And now, they seem to be kind of staid and expected.

Glad I bought the moondust shadows in the original formulation, as these don’t look as great.

Mariella Avatar

I have some of the “old” versions of these shadows but I really like Ember and if it turns out to be a good’un (looks promising), I will probably buy it.

Christine, can you tell if these are packaged so they are easy to depot? I hope so but I don’t know but I’m sure I’m not the only one who would love to be able to depot them easily.

Mariella Avatar

Oh, that’s a shame. It would have been nice to be able to depot and put into palettes. It’s 2021, after all – you’d think companies would be doing this routinely.

Zoe Avatar

I think they did, which was why they were on sale a few months back. Their original eyeshadow singles aren’t being sold at Sephora or Ulta from what I can tell.
Major bummer! Their unique color offerings and sheer variety was what set them apart for me.

Some of them look pretty good, like Charged, Float, Freak, Ride and a few others. I’m pleased to see they’re not truly awful. I hate to say it, but I was really worried about the reformulation. I’m still irritated that they didn’t give them a pop out option to put in your own custom made palettes, but still have the little plexiglass packages for storage or carrying just a few.

Katherine Avatar

I’m excited for these! Look like they swatch well. UD has been such a miss for me since around 2017 (the last palette I liked was the Born to Run palette. But I want a bunch of these. Price is a bit high for a single, though.

C.Blossom Avatar

Love these! I love that they kept the names linked to the same colors in their eyeliners. Clarity—joy!

Also, love the packaging and photography. A neutral context lets me see the hues of the product. My pet peeve is matchy-matchy packaging colors getting in the way of seeing the product.

Lauren Avatar

Wow, I might actually purchase a couple of these. Haven’t bought from UD in several years. I absolutely loved their stuff back in the day- the eyeshadows had such great payoff with lovely duochromes and shimmer effects (now much more common), and the cinnamon flavored glitter glosses. I just don’t know if they will be able to compete now that so many indie brands are making high-quality shades for less. But they should certainly start over everything from scratch like they did their eyeshadows, IMHO.

Francesca Avatar

Psych looks pretty much similar to my beloved lounge, whereas the new solstice seems much less impressive than the old one, wich is an other fav of mine. Thus I guess that moondusts should have been reformulated (and not into the direction of improvement), a part that repackaged?

Melissa Avatar

The swatches look good, which is surprising given their recent releases. I don’t see colours I don’t already have workable dupes for though. The moondust shadows look a lot less shiny than the old lineup, so I’m glad I snagged a few of those when they went on sale!

Jess Avatar

I don’t usually care about packaging but I hate how these look. It seems like there was no thought put into the design. It’s clear… it’s square… it’s boring. Not what I’d expect from a brand like UD. And the fact that you can’t depot them either. I almost don’t care about whether it’s good eyeshadow or not. These make me sad just to look at them.
