In the spirit of Halloween (which is today here in the U.S.), here’s an orange-themed set of favorites. What’s your favorite way to wear orange? What are your favorite products?
As someone whose complexion is fair neutral leaning towards cool, I like a soft orange that’s easy to wear. I like the look of MAC Modern Mandarin, Revlon Citrine and Zoya Amy.
I bet Modern Mandarin would be gorgeous on you!

I have been trying to resist Lantana for awhile now…. but it looks so pretty! Any tips on how to wear it for everyday?

Oooh, these are pretty! I’m really wanting to get Halo. I love the Revlon HD Citrine. It’s so vivid and I love the gold shimmer. I have to be careful with orange lip colors, as they can really make my teeth look yellow. I have transparent enamel, so the yellow dentin inside the tooth shows through. I usually go really bright and/or make sure it leans red. I’m finding I really like matte oranges as crease shades this fall.
Some of my other favorite oranges are: Lips — Kat von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in A Go-Go; Maybelline ColorSensational Vivids Lip Color in Vivid Mandarin; e.l.f. Studio Moisturizing Lipstick in Orange Dream; MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus II lipstick and lipglass; Nyx Macaron in Orange Blossom (it makes my teeth look whiter, even though it shouldn’t); UD 24/7 lipliner pencil in Bang. Eyes and/or Cheeks — ColourPop Girl Power; ABH Morocco; UD Slowburn; UD Bitter; MUFE Tangerine; Sleek Blush x 3 in Pumpkin; Nyx Powder Blush in Cinnamon.
What’s been a go-to matte crease shade that you’ve been using, Rachel?
ABH Morocco has been my favorite, as it has a bit of a brownish tone and goes with more looks. I just think it’s a flattering and versatile color and it blends really nicely. I like CP Girl Power a lot, too, though.
I normally stay away from orange, as I have yellow undertones, but I’m finding that some orange shadows, blushes, and lippies can look good on me. I like the swatch of that Revlon HD Citrine
Which ones have you found work well so far?
For eyes, I like Amber Lights in the MAC Guo Pei Morning Light Palette. I thought it would be waaay too orangey for me, but it’s gorgeous with the other brown and yellow colors in there–my eyes look like autumn leaves turning! So glad I got the palette–$70, but no regrets. For cheeks, I like Too Faced Justify My love. For lips, a reddish coral orange is best, like Revlon HD Fire Opal, Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple, or Benefit Coralista Gloss. But I’m thinking of taking a risk and ordering Maybelline Craving Coral, which is really orange! Not sure if I can pull it off, but the color is gorgeous, and our local sports team has orange colors.
You just can’t go past the Maybelline Colour Sensational range for budget priced lipsticks that are amazing in quality.

The ColorSensational formula is so good! I’m glad there’s an affordable formula that works well like it.
Oddly, during autumn and winter about the only truly orange anything I may use is orange-y eyeshadow! Love MAC Rule and Red Brick, also UD Fireball for that. Not sure that I’d term one of my favorite blushes, Burnt Pepper, though it has an orange cast. But come spring/summer I do start using it for lips & nails!

Maybelline Vibrant Mandarin is about as wearable as orange gets on my NW10/15 complexion. I like it with a touch of red, otherwise it’s just unflattering. (Is there such a thing as a “cool” orange? :P) I would’ve loved to try Guerlain’s Orange Euphorique, and I’m still hoping I’ll find a dupe someday.

I love Tom Ford lipstick in Flame and Bobbi Brown’s Brightening Brick in Coral. (Okay, and Bobbi Brown blush in Nude Peach). There’s an Hourglass one in there, too!
