MAC Lovecloud & Modern Mandarin Blushes Reviews, Photos, Swatches (2014)

MAC Lovecloud Blush ($21.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “bright mid-tone pink.” It’s a light-medium, subtly cool-toned pink with a satiny sheen. This is a pink that leans blue, but it doesn’t pull so blue that it is difficult for warmer complexions to wear. The pigmentation was excellent–very true-to-pan color that was easy to achieve without having to pack it on. The texture was soft, finely-milled, and smooth. This shade wore just over seven and a half hours on me before starting to fade. Make Up For Ever #210 (P, $26.00) is warmer, cream product. Urban Decay Blush (P) is darker, more matte. Tarte Flush (P, $26.00) is slightly darker. NARS New Attitude (LE, $29.00) is darker, matte, warmer. Givenchy It-Girl Purple (P, $44.00) is more matte. Tarte Dollface (P, $26.00) is a little more matte. MAC Pure Femininity (LE, $20.00) is cooler-toned. theBalm Down Boy (P, $21.00) is more matte. MAC Well Dressed (P, $21.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Modern Mandarin Blush ($21.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “red-orange.” It’s a medium-dark orange with warm, red undertones and a soft, frosted finish. This shade was more shimmery than the rest, and I felt like the permanent edition was just a tiny bit more shimmery than my original version (not enough to seem like a genuine difference, more like a batch variation) as well as slightly more blendable. It had great color payoff, while the texture of the powder was soft, smooth, and blendable. I really liked how consistent these blushes were across the board. Modern Mandarin managed to last eight hours on me before fading. Chanel Presage (62) (LE, $38.00) is a cream, lighter, no shimmer. Tom Ford Beauty Savage (P, $55.00) is darker. NARS Gilda (P, $29.00) is a smidgen lighter. Guerlain Peach Boy #1 (P) is less shimmery, darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I was curious about Modern Mandarin, but fortunately I own two dupes so I’ll admire Modern Mandarin from afar. Tom Ford’s Savage is my HG all around neutral blush and I own Gilda too. Modern Mandarin seems very pretty.

Aww, I like both on you! I was interested to see how a lavender blush turned out, and I think it looks great. Not sure how well it would go on someone cool-toned like me though – any ideas?

I actually love the two-tone blush look in the last photo 😀 Totally would try that if I had more than one colour of blush, hehe! Maybe when I get that Peach Pop one I’ll try it on one cheek and Affinite on the other 😉

I was most interested in Full Of Joy and Modern Mandarin, and I do like both, but I’m surprised how tempting Lovecloud is as well. I’ll have to check these out when they hit my local counter. They’re all permanent right?

I have my dying to get my hands on Modern Mandarin for a few years now! I can’t wait to pick it up! Lovecloud is also really cute – I wasn’t expecting to like it so much haha.

I like this pair more than the other post. Both are colors that I can wear. Glad they’re permanent because I certainly don’t need more blush right now! LOL I recently got The Balm Down Boy so it’s nice to see it’s close to Lovecloud.

I just ‘discovered’ Lovecloud and I’m psyched to see it’s permanent now (I saw swatches of the older version). Would you say this looks like the original Lovecloud? It’s such a lovely shade!
