Makeup Geek Chickadee Eyeshadow
Makeup Geek Chickadee Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “matte yellow orange.” It’s a brightened, medium orange with warm, yellow undertones and a matte finish. It had nice color payoff with a soft, blendable consistency that was easy to use, though it was a smidgen powdery. The color lasted for eight hours before fading slightly. Ardency Inn Tangerine (P, $21.00) is lighter. Sleek MakeUP Acid #4 (P, $9.99) is lighter, brighter. Wet ‘n’ Wild A Regular at the Factory #3 (LE, $2.29) is very similar. Disney by Sephora Rajah (LE) is darker, more shimmery. Maybelline Fierce & Tangy (DC, $6.99) is a cream product. MAC Juiced (DC, $15.00) is more shimmery, yellower. Illamasqua Vulgar (P) is slightly brighter/more orange. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Makeup Geek Simply Marlena Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “rosy pink with purple undertone and gold flecks.” It’s a medium-dark, fuchsia pink with cool, bluish undertones and a satin finish–mostly matte with a smattering of very fine shimmer. The eyeshadow had good pigmentation, but it was on the powdery side, so it tends to have a fair amount of fall out when you apply it, and it does seem to sheer out a little too easily on the lid. If you normally use a primer, you probably won’t notice. On me, it wore well for eight hours. Chanel Exaltation (108) (P, $29.50) is lighter, matte. Guerlain Terra Azzurra #2 (LE) is similar. Sugarpill Birthday Girl (P, $12.00) is purpler. Sugarpill Dollipop (P, $12.00) is more matte, brighter. Inglot #362 (P, $6.00) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Makeup Geek Poison Ivy Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “shimmery medium green.” It’s a muted, medium-dark olive green with warm undertones and a golden olive shimmer for a more satiny finish. The consistency was drier, somewhat powdery, and the color payoff reflected it, as this one was semi-opaque. It faded a little faster than much of the range does on me and only wore well for seven hours when I tested it. MAC Marsh (LE, $15.00) is more matte. MAC Olive Blend #2 (LE) is darker, less green. theBalm #16 (P, $6.50) is very similar. Tarina Tarantino Dandy Lion (LE) is darker. Anastasia Moss (LE) is darker, cooler-toned. theBalm D4 (LE, $16.00) is darker. Dior Khaki Design #3 (P) is darker. Inglot #121R Middle (P, $6.00) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

The prettiest color has the worst pigmentation 🙁
Awwww!
I agree – the orange and pink are colours I’d never wear but the olive green….so lovely, if it had been better quality.
I second that- too bad, it’s a pretty color 🙁
I keep forgetting you reviewed the 10 D.S. Rainbow shades from inglot. I found those 10 very helpful to have because I had none of those muted shades.
I would like to get more Makeup Geek products myself.
I think I only reviewed two or three of them? actually!
I always thought Chickadee was so unique, and I might have to pick it up when I get around to purchasing some Makeup Geek. I like Poison Ivy as well but it seems it’s lacking a little. Hmph.
Chickadee is a really fun shade 🙂
Simply Marlena is very pretty. Poison Ivy is a great color, but it sounds like it has too much fallout. Chickadee is not my kind of color, but the pigmentation is impressive.
I wish Simply Marlena’s texture was more like Chickadee’s!
Poison Ivy is one of my favorite shadows. It makes a terrific crease color and is great for smoky green eyes.
That’s awesome! Thanks, Eleanor!
I’m going to have to try Poison Ivy as a crease color! Thanks for the idea!
I like Marlena. She seems like a genuinely nice person. I don’t own any Makeup Geek. Maybe it’s time.
Worth a try, I think! 🙂
Darn, Poison Ivy was on my list. BUT… I didn’t realize how close it was to MAC Marsh, so I guess I don’t even need it after all. Bless the Swatch feature!
Yay!! 🙂
I’m wearing Simply Marlena today! It’s the best matte pink I’ve ever owned -although I guess it’s not really matte?? Never noticed it had shimmer, I’ll have to take another look! Most pinks don’t show up as pink on me, so I love this one.
I have Chickadee too, I like to use it as a transition color in the crease.
Happy to hear you’ve loving both! 😀
I love love love Makeup Geek shadows. Have a collection of them. Chickadee is a great everyday Lid color or a crease color and its more peachy in tone than Creme Brulee is.
What are your top five favorite shades from MUG?
I’ve wanted Chickadee for ages! I think it’s such a unique colour but it’s always sold out when I go to purchase. Will have to double check the site again soon. 🙂
Fingers crossed for ya!
Love the poison ivy colour, but it is a shame that the product looks and seems so powdery. Anyway, I have the Emerald Pretty palette and Dandy Lion is fabulous.
Dandy Lion… swoon!
I wasn’t quite sure what to do with Chickadee when I first got it, because it seemed SO yellow, but one of my favorite looks now is to use it for a gorgeous, subtle glow just above my crease when I do a neutral eye.
So glad you found a way to make it work!
It’s really unfortunate that Poison Ivy is pretty as regards color and poor in terms of quality.
On the other hand, Chickadee is a nice matte shade. I have and use it as a transition shade in certain looks.
I’ll have to try it as a transition shade 😀
For some reason, I really like Chickadee. It’s such a pretty orange. I also like Poison Ivy but I wish it was a little more pigmented.
I love the color of Poison Ivy – but wish it wasn’t as powdery as it is!
They’re all lovely, but Poison Ivy is my favourite here. It has such a pretty, slightly shimmery haziness> it’s a shame this kind of goes hand in hand with powdery/sheer/dryness… 😛
Still, if this were a shadow in a premade palette, I’d totally try making it work with primers and such!
Primer would help for sure!
I like one of the dupes for Poison Ivy – Dandy Lion, how is the performance or formula on that one..?
Amazing!
I wish Poison Ivy was better quality, because the color is really pretty. The other two look great.
Me too 🙁
Simply Marlena is a stunning shade! Don’t own anything like it! I’d thought Poison Ivy would get a higher rating!
I didn’t think Poison Ivy would have problems!
Aww, I love that there’s a “Simply Marlena” shade — that’s so cute! And it really does seem like a shade that she’d be obsessed with.
On that note: do you ever wear Jealousy Wakes these days, Christine? 🙂
I don’t, lol, to be honest.
For some reason I thought Marlena would be the yellow! I don’t know why but I always associate yellow with that name!
How funny!
