Too Faced Miso Pretty & Queen B Melted Matte Liquid Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Too Faced Miso Pretty Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick
Too Faced Miso Pretty Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.23 fl. oz.) is described as a “matte soft ballet slipper pink.” It’s a light, peachy-pink with subtle, warm undertones and a flat, matte finish. It was very chalky once it dried down, and it looked “cracked’ as soon as I smiled, but worse, it remained visibly separated even when I relaxed my mouth (you can see that in the swatch). It had no staying power–it broke down within four hours–for a fully dry, liquid lipstick formula. The consistency was clingy and was drying over time. NYX Shy (P, $6.00) is lighter (95% similar). ColourPop Vice (LE, $6.50) is darker, warmer (90% similar). MAC Promise Me (P, $20.00) is more muted, less glossy (90% similar). Bite Beauty #060 (P, $18.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Strip Poker (LE, $19.00) is lighter, glossier (90% similar). NYX Forbidden (P, $6.00) is glossier (90% similar). KVD Beauty Agatha (DC, $21.00) is lighter (95% similar). Tarte Pillowtalk (P, $20.00) is darker, more muted (85% similar). KVD Beauty Muneca (P, $20.00) is darker (85% similar). Tarte Salty (P, $20.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). KVD Beauty Noble (DC, $21.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Too Faced Queen B Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.23 fl. oz.) is described as a “matte soft mauve.” It’s a muted, medium mauve with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It applied fairly well, but I couldn’t keep it from separating once the color dried down, so it emphasized lip lines and made the color easier to flake and fade. It lasted for four and a half hours and was drying. Jouer Rayanne (P, $18.00) is darker (95% similar). Tarte Festival (LE, $20.00) is darker (95% similar). Anastasia Trouble (P, $20.00) is darker (90% similar). Bite Beauty Cava (P, $24.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Ferosh! (P, $26.00) is darker, warmer, glossier (85% similar). MAC Ripened (P, $22.00) is darker (85% similar). ColourPop @ Me (LE, $6.50) is darker, warmer (85% similar). MAC Really Me (P, $19.00) is lighter, glossier (80% similar). Make Up For Ever Rosewood (105) (P, $20.00) is darker (90% similar). ColourPop Shimmy (LE, $6.50) is lighter (90% similar). ColourPop Clueless (DC, $6.50) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Oblivion (DC, $18.00) is lighter, glossier (85% similar). Bite Beauty Thistle (DC, $26.00) is darker, cooler, glossier (80% similar). KVD Beauty Lovesick (P, $20.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). ColourPop Contempo (DC, $7.00) is darker, warmer, glossier (80% similar). KVD Beauty Lovecraft (DC, $21.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). Bite Beauty Cava (P, $24.00) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
FORMULA OVERVIEW | Too Faced Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.23 fl. oz.) is supposed to apply l ike a gloss but dry to “an ultra-matte, opaque finish” that is “never dry, shriveled, or cracked” that should “last for hours.” Most of the shades are unforgiving once they dry down and emphasize lip lines, look “cracked” if you smile, though they feel lighter-weight than they look. It’s one of the more unflattering liquid lipsticks I have tried as many shades highlighted lip lines, and while the lipstick itself wasn’t extremely clingy, there was a dryness present there that, at times, made my lips tingle/ache. For me, the wear was between four and six hours, as a lot of the shades faded unevenly and were faster to breakdown than the average liquid lipstick. The formula is thin, more water-like (reminded me of ColourPop’s formula but sometimes thinner) with a fairly quick dry-down time.

I had high hopes for this line, but I guess I’ll stick to my Kat von D’s. Slightly unrelated but, have you considered doing sort of a staying-power timeline of the products with pictures? Like taking pictures of the product from the initial application to where it finally fades/flakes/needs to be reapplied. I just thought that might be interesting.
Thanks for the suggestion! Right now, for efficiency, I only photograph once every few days, and then spend the rest of the time writing/testing (well, this is what I try to do – it is something that works better for me to do things quickly and efficiently but also to turn around and edit photos – when I was doing more sessions with less products, I ended up with 1000s of photos untouched and wasted).
Hi Jessy, I don’t know if you like watching makeup videos on YouTube or not, but there is this one girl, Stephanie Nicole, and she has a whole series of reviews on liquid lipsticks, along with check-ins during an 8hr period. She also has a ranking system. I’ve found her reviews to be some of the best (though of course there are always limitations). Nothing beats Christine’s swatches/photos of course, but since you asked about wear time, I thought I would mention Stephanie’s channel.
Thank you for the suggestion I will check her out. I do enjoy watching makeup videos on youtube, but I only follow less than a handful of vloggers nowadays because I hate how biased most of them are. They over hype crappy products from questionable companies just because they have affiliate links or they get paid for reviews which is why Christine is my one and only source for reviews/swatches.
Eek, Miso Pretty is anything but pretty, lol… More like Miso Fugly, amirite? (har dee har)
I do like the color of Queen B though. Too bad about the finish and the dryness.
Miso Pretty was badddd!
hahaha Miso Fugly. That’s hilarious. It looks awful! I’ve worn some awful liquid to matte lipstick in my time, where i’ve had crakcing and pulling into lip lines, usually with lighter white based colors, but none of them looked as bad as this one.
Miso Pretty isn’t so pretty 🙁 And I like the Queen Bee color, but too bad the formula isn’t better
Miso Pretty was tough to work with!
Queen B looks beautiful with your eye-look; shame about the separating, though.
Thanks, Mary! The color was great for sure – if only the quality was there as well.
Miso Pretty looks sooooo bad. Ick!
I know 🙁
They look so dry! I had high hopes too.
They have been 🙁
I already had issues with the name “Miso Pretty” but yikes…. that sucks.
I can understand why 🙁
Miso Pretty is quite the misnomer, huh? Both shades look cracked, dry and downright painful to even think of wearing! I feel very sorry for your lips having to deal with even the miserly 4 hr. weartime this crummy formula barely eeks out!
I guess I should be happy they aren’t all wearing 8 hours, lol!
Queen B is a nice shade.
The color is pretty!
Oh come on, Too Faced. “Miso Pretty”? Ugh.
They could have named it better!
