Girl Code

Too Faced Girl Code Intense Color Coconut Butter Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark plum with warm undertones and a cream finish. The color payoff was fantastic with rich, opaque coverage that applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without tugging. The texture was smooth, lightly creamy without being too thick or too thin, and it was comfortable to wear as it was lightweight. It wore well for six hours on me and was lightly hydrating over time.

Formula Overview

$22.00/0.12 oz. - $183.33 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to be "highly pigmented" with a "balmy, hydrating texture" that has "8 hour long-wearing color." The range is quite pigmented with a smooth, lightly balm-like consistencies--creamy enough to glide on easily but not so soft that it felt too creamy or melted on (denser than the brand's La Cremes). The majority of the shades applied evenly on my lips and lasted between four and six hours but none made it to eight. They were lightly hydrating overall. They were supposed to have a coconut scent, but I could barely detect anything; there was slight creaminess but it was very nondescript to me.

It has very similar packaging to MAC's Liptensity range, and now that both brands are under the Estee Lauder umbrella, a comparison of ingredients shows that they have similar bases, but some ingredients are out of order (but there) but Too Faced's formula has the inclusion of coconut butter/oil and is vegan (at least some of MAC's shades include carmine). To me, Too Faced took MAC's formula and made tweaks based on what they preferred in it (or not in it), but they're definitely similar with respect to how they look at the end of the day. I applied the two side-by-side (one on each half of my lips), and MAC's Liptensity formula is tackier with a bit more cling whereas Too Faced's Intense Color formula has more slip and seems lighter-weight. I definitely noticed that I was wearing lipstick less with Too Faced's formula. That being said, that lack of tackiness is what I attribute to shorter wear time. I don't think that they feel like night and day different; I can just feel subtle differences. They are the same in size, but Too Faced's is $22.00 and Liptensity is $21.00.

Indecent Proposal

Too Faced Indecent Proposal Intense Color Coconut Butter Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a deep, reddish brown with subtle, warm undertones and a glossy, cream finish. The pigmentation was nearly opaque, and the color applied evenly and smoothly across my lips so there wasn’t any unevenness or streakiness, which can be an issue with deeper shades like this one. The lipstick was lightly creamy, smooth without being tacky, and lightweight on my lips. There was enough slip that it felt a bit more emollient and balm-like, but it didn’t slide around over the five and a half hours it lasted for. The formula felt moisturizing to me.

“Indecent Proposal”??? Once again, I’d like to see more cosmetics companies reflecting this “new” awareness about issues like “indecent proposals” and other aspects of sexual harassment. Companies that specifically market to women should be at the forefront of this and we women should be showing our support or displeasure with our dollars.

‘Indecent proposal’ way predates the current connotation. Asking a friend to rip off the church collection is also an indecent proposal. As is stealing the answers to a test and distributing/selling them. It actually means the suggestion of anything that is not decent to another party. The older denotation….literal meaning… is a not so appropriate suggestion to another. Mind you, i’m not saying that tf did not mean it in the sex-way; it is tf, after all. But these days everything is interpreted in that manner. Take conspiracy: you think Trump/Cambridge Analytica, rather than conspiring to throw a surprise birthday party. Meaning is in the ear of an interpretive mind. So my indecent proposal is: let’s ditch work and go live to the Sephora sale!
Hope these go live…love girl code, but have always been allergic to coconut, so a bad blind buy.

Maybe yes, maybe no (the phrase has been around for a long time) but if you know anything about the movie itself, then you’ll know it’s about a rich and powerful man using that wealth and power to exploit and manipulate and young woman (and her husband) caught in a very difficult circumstance….very much what the #metoo movement is about. It’s been discussed here time and time again – the cosmetics names associated with drugs, sexual violence, underage sexual exploitation, etc. – and a lot of people are fed up with them. I happen to be one of them.

I stopped by to double check your reviews before finally grabbing a couple of these. (Plus I had to say cheers ? to our mutual La Creme Pink Chocolate/ Honey Bear admiration society ? In my mind we and by we I mean you …I’m just adding myself in…made Pink Choc into the cult classic it is. Noooobody talked about how great it was until *we* did ? ok ok YOU did. And I’m serious about the you did part. Too Faced should be fanning you and feeding you grapes! ) Wow I got off track … anyway I came for the review and swatches but I was once again stopped in my tracks by your Jedi mastery of eyeshadow. The blending here?!?! SEAMLESS! It’s like chubby baby cherubs softly blew colored air onto your lids in perfect harmony. Jedi you are.
