Violet Fatale

Tom Ford Violet Fatale Lip Color ($54.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a deep fuchsia with cool undertones and a soft sheen. It had semi-opaque color payoff in a single layer, which was slightly buildable, but it never achieved full coverage as the texture was thin and had moderate slip. It didn’t feel slippery when worn, though. This shade lasted for five hours on me, left a stain behind, and was moisturizing while worn.

Formula Overview

$57.00/0.1 oz. - $570.00 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed have an "ultra-creamy texture" with "smooth application" that will deliver "pure color." The lipstick tends to have semi-opaque to opaque coverage with a natural to luminous finish with some shades with very fine pearl and others with more metallic shimmer. The consistency is typically creamy, lightweight, and has moderate slip, which makes it comfortable to wear and to apply but is not the most long-lasting lipstick formula. The wear tends to range between four and six hours with some shades performing above and below that range. There's a vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Bruised Plum

Tom Ford Bruised Plum Lip Color ($54.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a deep plum with subtle, cool undertones and a fine, pearl finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that covered the lips somewhat evenly, and some of the color slipped into my lip lines. It applied better than many other shades with this amount of slip and deepness in color, but it still had plenty of room for improvement. It wore well for five and a half hours, left a slight stain behind, and was hydrating.

Of the first lipsticks recommended to me by a TF MUA was Violet Fatale. Later on, I read that Xavier in L&B is Violet Fatale in the regular line. I bought Xavier and love how it brightens up the face, much like in your photos.

I could easily wear both shades and, apparently, do as I have TF Ryan in rotation.

It’s fun to have TF products, but for me it’s not worth the extra cost. I go for the dupes. When I did buy the few things I have I just inserted my credit card without looking at the sum. Not the greatest way to shop 🙂
