This is one of two limited edition powders being released for fall (I don’t have the other one, but I’ll certainly try to buy one when they officially release). The formula is supposed to be a “powder blush” that has “sumptuous color” that goes on “evenly.” It comes in purple-hued compact to match the Velvet Orchid fragrance family. While the packaging for the solid perfumes is extremely heavy and substantial, the compact for the blush is very lightweight and has that feeling of cheapness to me. The texture was soft, fairly smooth, and blendable on the skin; it doesn’t feel as dense or as buttery as the brand’s blushes or as blendable as the formula of the Illuminating Duo, and it is most like the bronzer formula.. It had medium, buildable coverage and produced a glowing finish once blended out on my skin, but if you don’t like seeing bits of shimmer or sparkle, you might not be in love with this. On me, the blush wore well for nine hours before fading slightly.

Oh no! It’s dupable, but a very pretty color, goes well with the orchid theme. But for $ 80, they shouldn’t have skimped on the packaging. It should feel luxe and substantial. I’ve been eyeing the Gold, but not sure now. Maybe I’ll go for that Velvet Orchid lipstick instead… BTW, love the eye look you did, will need to copy it

My general rule is …the lighter my wallet gets, the heavier the product should be, you know, to kind of counterbalance each other 😉

It’s interesting you feel that way. I’ll compare again tomorrow but it didn’t strike me as anything less than the other palette designs TF puts out. I didn’t get the solid perfumes, so I can’t speak to that packaging, but do you feel the same way about the bronzer or bicoastal packaging?

It is pretty but definitely not $80. worth pretty. Tom Ford really needs to come down with his prices it is ridiculous for that price it should be an A+ and I need to love it.

I spent part of my afternoon today trying to recreate this entire look with products I already own. I this blush is so pretty, I am thinking Lorac Vicid would be the closest that would show up on my NC37 skin tone. And the lipstick? I have over 100 lipsticks and I went through them all today, couldn’t even come close! Sigh. Really, really pretty.

Hi Christine!
I had such much trouble swatching this product on my hand and the application on my cheeks was super sheer and light. I’m surprised to see your swatch and application is so bright, pigmented, and beautiful. I’m I doing something wrong in application? What brush did you use to apply it?

Christine Avatar

I don’t remember what brush I used with it (I don’t keep track and go through 50-100 brushes each week), unfortunately, but the texture wasn’t one where I felt like I had to figure out a good brush to use. I have heard from a few others that they had very, very stiff powders 🙁
