Tom Ford Soleil d'Hiver Eyeshadow Quad Review & Swatches
Soleil d'Hiver (03)
Tom Ford Beauty Soleil d’Hiver (03) Eye Color Quad ($88.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a new, limited edition neutral-hued quad that features a sparkling, golden peach, medium pink-peach, light bronze, and chocolaty brown. All four shades were shimmery with the first shade having larger sparkles and sheerer coverage as a result of its stiffer consistency. The other three eyeshadows had good pigmentation, were easy to apply, and lasted for eight and a half hours or longer.

Soleil d'Hiver #1
Soleil d’Hiver #1 is a light, golden peach with flecks of pink and gold sparkle over a more metallic finish. It had a much stiffer consistency than I’ve experienced previously with any of the more baked formulas by Tom Ford, and it didn’t seem to soften or become more yielding with more usage.
It worked better with a dampened brush, as this seemed to pick up more product and yielded semi-opaque coverage rather than sheer to semi-sheer. Dry, I could build it up to medium coverage with enough sparkles reflecting that it didn’t seem “sheer” (too similar to my skin tone to be as noticeably sheer to my eye). It applied evenly and blended out well with minimal fallout. This shade lasted well for eight hours with slight fading.

Soleil d'Hiver #2
Soleil d’Hiver #2 is a light-medium peach with moderate, warm undertones and a smooth, metallic sheen. It had good color coverage applied dry, though it was deeper and truer-to-pan in color with full opacity when applied with a dampened brush. The eyeshadow had a smooth, dense consistency that wasn’t powdery at all, blended well on my skin, and looked “melted” after initial application where it sat well on my lid. It wore nicely for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Soleil d'Hiver #3
Soleil d’Hiver #3 is a light bronze with soft, warm undertones and a shiny, metallic finish. It had opaque color coverage applied dry as well as wet, while the dampened application deepened the actual base color. The consistency was smooth to the touch, dense without being stiff, and easy to work with as the color almost blended itself. It stayed on well for nine hours before fading a bit.

Soleil d'Hiver #4
Soleil d’Hiver #4 is a rich, medium-dark brown with warmer undertones and a pearly sheen. It had rich color payoff that applied evenly and smoothly to bare skin. It had the same coverage level applied dry as it had applied with a dampened brush, but the latter method deepened the color as well. The texture was smooth, dense without being stiff or difficult to pick up, and it blended out beautifully on my lid. It lasted well for nine hours on me before I noticed any fading.

I 100% knew I’d love this quad! Probably because I can replicate this eye look just by using Smashbox Petal Metal Covershot palette and Buxom Bronzed Bod, I’m guessing? LOL
Very pretty and practical but also very dupe-able and, once again, at the price here in Canada (heck, even for the price in the US), I’ll stick with dupes.
Another beautiful quad, but what a shame the first shade was such a dud. A gorgeous combination of colours that would work well day or night. And I love your eye look too – the perfect warm neutral look.
?
Do you think Tom Ford eyeshadows are worth the $ compared to like. Dior?
Hi Connie,
Just read the reviews! 🙂 It’s all about what you’re looking for and what will work for you. Worth is VERY subjective!!
I like the soleil neige quad better, but I definitely feeling these blendy shimmer eyes for Holiday season. I would layer down a matte in my crease first for my hoodies and then shimmer on top.
If Soleil d’Hiver #4 would have been in Nude Dip, I would have kept it. My beautiful fair friend got the barely used one I used to own.
TropicalCowgirl, I cannot get into Nude Dip either. I had it on the other day and decided it was time to gift or trade it away. It was one of my first TF purchases and I wish I would have chosen Cocoa Mirage.
I think that baked TF formula is muuuuch more interesting. I had one matte palerre, not Cocoa Mirage, and it was just ok. May be Cocoa Mirage is better since it has lots of fans.
This colour scheme reminds me of a more pigmented Chanel Lueurs Ambrees. Beautiful but not distinctive if one has similar shades and finishes.
