Tom Ford Red Corset & Stolen Cherry Lip Lacquer Liquid Patent Review, Photos, Swatches
Red Corset
Tom Ford Beauty Red Corset Lip Lacquer Liquid Patent ($54.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a medium-dark, red plum with subtle, warm undertones and fine pink pearl. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied evenly and smoothly across my lips. The texture felt thin and more water-like initially, but it thickened to a more gel-like feel within 15 seconds or so. It had light tackiness but was very lightweight and comfortable to wear as the formula was moisturizing. The finish was shiny enough that it made my lips appear plumper and smoother from a normal viewing distance. The shine lasted for over six hours, while the color stayed on well for over eight hours and left a stain behind.

Formula Overview
$54.00/0.09 oz. - $600.00 Per Ounce
It's supposed to be a “lip stain with an ultra-glossy finish” that has “intense, vibrant color” and is "long-wearing." The formula feels lightweight, almost watery, when initially applied but thickens and feels more like a moderately tacky gel after thirty to forty seconds. It has great staying power with the glossiness lasting for six hours and the color itself still going strong eight to ten hours later (after two meals and coffee)–by the end of the day, it has more of a natural sheen to it (like a lip stain) but looked even. It did leave behind a stain as well. I often forgot that I was wearing it, as it was just so comfortable, hydrating, and lightweight. The coverage is nearly opaque but has that slight translucency that you would expect to see in a lip stain. I didn’t experience feathering or bleeding on these two shades. It had a sweet, vanilla scent but no discernible taste. The formula reminds me of products like YSL Glossy Stains, Giorgio Armani Ecstasy Lacquer but with a slightly thicker consistency.
As far as I can tell, the formula is the same as the Patent Finish Lip Colors but with a different applicator (doe-foot over a flocked, click-pen), which I felt like deposited more product in a single "layer" than the prior applicator but the colors, texture, and performance were nearly the same. The ingredient lists also seemed to be the same when I tried to read through them line by line. The descriptions from the brand also have the same key words and claims.

Stolen Cherry
Tom Ford Beauty Stolen Cherry Lip Lacquer Liquid Patent ($54.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a vibrant, medium red with subtle, cool undertones and a mirror-like, ultra-glossy finish. The color coverage was semi-opaque in a single layer, which gave it a more stain-like appearance on. It felt cool and wet when initially applied as the texture was rather thin and watery, but it thickened to a plusher, more gel-like texture within 15 seconds that felt like a second-skin in the best way (not clingy, just one with my lips). The glossiness remained visible for the first six hours of wear, and then it faded to more of a soft sheen with the color lingering for a total of eight hours plus a faint stain after all was said and done. The formula was very hydrating over time.

Decisions, decisions, decisions. No Vacancy VS. Stolen Cherry.? I’m only buying ONE!
Red Corset is the shade I picked up before going on my no-buy. I love that shade and I really love this formula. Once my no-buy is over I am going to pick up some of the other shades. This is a really nice formula, IMHO.
These are gorgeous, especially Red Corset. They cost more money than I’m willing to spend on a lipstick, though.
UGH these look gorgeous. I cant justify $54 on a lip lacquer but man oh man these look fabulous!!
These are both lovely! I’m hoping “stolen cherry” doesn’t mean what I think…yikes.
Stunning shades and finishes!
If I manage to do something I can award myself a nice treat (lose weight, finish unpacking my boxes, assemble all the IKEA furniture) I might just get Red Corset. Such a great colour.
Do you think one of these (in the entire line) could be a Chanel Dragon dupe?
No, not at all – the texture/finish isn’t anything like the Rouge Allure Lacques!
