Tom Ford Ondine, Sterling, Mario Boys Lip Colors Reviews & Swatches
Ondine
Tom Ford Beauty Ondine Lips & Boys Soft Matte Lip Color ($36.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a brighter, medium-dark coral-orange with strong, warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had sheer to semi-sheer pigmentation in a single pass, which was buildable to medium coverage. The product applied fairly evenly, but it seemed to highlight imperfections of my lip texture, especially on my upper lip, though it didn’t seem to highlight my lip lines.
It had a velvety, smooth texture that didn’t feel wet or creamy like a typical lipstick, but it didn’t feel clingy while on it either. This shade lasted nicely for four hours and felt lightly hydrating while worn.

The Soft Matte finish is supposed to have a "veil of sheer" color with a "powdery, velvety finish." Most shades had sheer to medium coverage that was buildable to medium to semi-opaque coverage. The texture felt velvety, lightweight, and thin, though it didn't feel clingy, and glided easily across my lips. The major downside was that it wasn't the most flattering on, so sometimes the color didn't look as even as it could or it accentuated lip lines/caught on lip texture. The wear varied between three and five hours, while the formula felt lightly hydrating.

Sterling
Tom Ford Beauty Sterling Lips & Boys Soft Matte Lip Color ($36.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a muted, darker plum with subtle, cool undertones and a natural sheen. It had semi-sheer pigmentation that applied fairly evenly but seemed to slip into my lip lines slightly–enough that it was noticeable in person, though.
The consistency felt smooth, velvety, and glided easily across my lips without tugging. It felt very lightweight and thin, but it didn’t feel clingy nor was it drying over the four and a half hours it wore for.

Mario
Tom Ford Beauty Mario Lips & Boys Soft Matte Lip Color ($36.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a muted, plummy mauve with subtle, warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had sheer to semi-sheer color payoff in a single layer, which was buildable to medium coverage.
The consistency felt lightweight, thin without being clingy, and glided easily across my lips with its velvety, primer-like feel. It didn’t emphasize my lip lines and softened some of the more minor ones. This shade stayed on nicely for four hours and felt lightly hydrating over time.

I was hoping Tom Ford just made a dumb mistake putting Ondine in with the boys’ lipsticks, but I bet it’s referring to that actor who’s famous for yelling at Andy Warhol, and since nobody had ever yelled at Andy Warhol before he put the actor in a bunch of movies.
Ondine is a beautiful one! However, I’m more inclined to get that one from yesterday, Jackie.
Mario is also a winner in my book, but I have and love MAC Mehr, so I’m thinking they’re too close perhaps.
Sterling made me sad. If only it had had greater smoothness of pigmentation with no sinking into lip lines, it would have been the one!
Ondine is a female water nymph responsible for cursing men who are unfaithful to her. Not sure itโs a good name for a Boy. Most of these are fine, but i get confused when the color is not true to tube, and many TFs are. Especially for the collectors, who have many similar tubes. You might wind up having to swatch them, if you did not remember the name. Many of TFs are far lighter than expected.
I think Ondine is referencing a specific male actor. Especially since there’s an Udo and an Edie, there’s a whole Silver Factory thing going on here.
You wear shades like Ondine so well, Christine. I like all three of these but at the price, I need the formula to be stellar. I did order “Deborah” last night so I am happy about that and it is a colour that I will get a lot of use out of during the winter and holidays. I think it will work well with my all time favorite lip liner, Night Moth so there is that going for it also.
Ondine is a pretty coral shade.
