The mattes are pretty weak, even for Lorac, but love the color story.
Looking forward to your review; I hope it performs better than it swatched!!
I really love mauve toned palettes, however, this looks so similar to soft glam and many others out there. I’m a fan of lorac too. Their formulation is really good IMO (one of my favorites for mattes) and I love the layout of the upper row as mattes & bottom row as shimmers. Being that i’m in my 40’s, they work really well for me. Their palettes are typically cohesive as well. (another bonus) They are so late in the game on this color assortment though. I will wait for an ulta 20% off if i choose to pick this up & i’ll only be grabbing it b/c I like their formulation so much. The mattes are so soft & easy to work with. But man, It’s just so typical of what I already have.
Lorac is pulling out of Ulta but Kohl’s has all beauty 20% off right now.
Nooooooo. 🙁
Lorac is pulling out of Ulta? NO!! ):
Get it from Kohl’s! They have 20% off all beauty until July 22! And you get Kohls cash! ?
Hmmm…I’ll be interested to see the full review, to know if some of those mattes, mainly Cognac and Black Currant, are buildable or work better over primer (as I usually use eyeshadow primer regardless). I was thinking of putting this on my eventual wishlist, because Lorac’s Pro 1 and 2 palettes were my first ‘nice’ makeup purchases, and still love ‘em – can bring those two palettes on a trip and know I’ll have all my basics covered for making good eye looks. The Lorac formula isn’t for everyone, but I found it easy to work with when getting more into makeup; think the powderiness makes them pretty blendable, and can build the shades up.
Anyhow, I finally tried out the whole purple/pink and orange thing by getting the Rose in the Air palette from Wet ‘n Wild, and enjoyed the color scheme more than I thought I would (don’t care for a straight pink eye look on myself, but with the right balance of more purple/mauve or orange colors, it’s pretty great…can know see why the color scheme is so popular for eyeshadow palettes, haha). Still wasn’t sure about taking the plunge on a higher end palette with that color scheme, but when I saw this announced, piqued my interest since I love the Pro 1 and 2. So definitely looking forward to the full review!
I’d love to see that color scheme. It sounds really interesting. I keep eyeing that Wet n’ Wild palette… maybe I should just grab it.
This softer, more muted take on the whole orangey/plum palette theme of the past few years is actually quite nice. From your eye look, I call tell that these apply far better on the lid than arm swatches indicate. Looking forward to y
*your formal review.
Can we please have the “post comment” button above the comment box, so that if we’re on a mobile device and our keyboard inexplicably drops, we won’t have our comment go through half done?
Hey Nancy,
It’s not a change we’d make since it would run completely counter to what 99% of users are used to (submit-type buttons are at the end of whatever you’re submitting – true of WordPress comments but also something like a contact form), which means that every single user that comes here would have to re-learn and remember where that was (because it wouldn’t be in the place they expected) and that’s not in line with best practices for UX/UI, especially since it seems to be something only a handful of users experience (minority instead of the majority).
For the record, I’ve had that happen, too. What I do now is type my post in the “Notes” app on my phone and then cut and paste into the comments section.
Could you both share your device and let me know if this happens on other sites you leave comments on?
It happens on my iPhone and iPad, not on my desktop Mac. The site might jump as I’m typing or else the keyboard suddenly closes. For me, it’s not a Temptalia-exclusive problem.
Thank you!
I like it, I might get it. Everyone says it looks like a Soft Glam ripoff, but it doesn’t have the orange shades (which is good imo, I’m sick of orange).
Totally agree! I like softer shades, but there were too many shades in Soft Glam that I’d never use, so it didn’t interest me. This Lorac palette will get tons of use from me.
I’m really loving this palette! Seeing these swatch photos, I decided to swatch it myself to compare. The one that stands out as being patchy is Black Currant, which is not a shade I would use, so it’s not a deal-breaker for me. Midnight is another shade I wouldn’t use, but it swatches nicely. Cognac looks iffy in the photo, but I’ve used it this week as an outer V shade and it worked very well, The rest are really nice, with some being especially gorgeous, like Pecan and Candlelight.
Love these soft shades this is what i should be wearing it goes perfectly with my skin tone but I lean toward darker warmer colors. Love these shades. I’ll go in my wish list for Santa! 🙂
Thanks for the swatches! I was eyeing this, but the swatches look underwhelming. Money saved
Lorac is adding to the warm and wonderful line of pinks and plums – although Black Currant does seem a bit wonky to me.
Softern Glamaissance?
These look amazing! I love Lorac’s formula. The color story is wonderful, as well.
I like these colors and hope the mattes aren’t as patchy on the eye as they look in the swatches. But I can’t help thinking that this is Soft Glam v.2, and that Lorac should have released it months ago; now it’s “old news.” From the ABH Norvina palette and other new releases I’ve seen in the past week, I think the new trend (thank heavens!!!) is going to be purples.
Bummer about the news that Lorac is leaving Ulta. 🙁
I think Lorac made a big mistake releasing filtered photos of this palette on social media prior to the launch. Their pictures made the shades in the palette appear considerably lighter than they actually are. I’m very surprised to see that it actually has a nice variety in depth and tones. I saw countless comments saying that all the shades in the first row looked the same – and while it’s not the case in reality, it’s what their pictures made it look like. A lot of people were also saying this would only be suitable for light skin tones because the shades looked so pale. I think many wrote this palette off based on those pictures that didn’t do it any justice, which is really a shame for the brand.
I personally love the color scheme of this palette. Plums and neutrals but in wearable, flattering versions. I don’t think I’d buy it full price though, but I may get it with a discount or during a sale.
I thought the same. Wondered where I had gotten the impressions that all the left side was “the same” until you just reminded me. This post makes the palette a lot more appealing to me, and I am of dark complexion. Their Instagram release has not done proper justice to these tones.
Hoping it goes on sale soon if they can’t get it sold, I’ll be happy to snap one up. 🙂
Even though a few look like misses, I still like this. I love the organization of the shadows in the pro palettes. I wish more brands would be concious of how the colors are laid out. I love how the mattes and shimmers are separate rows and light to dark. It allows me to create more looks without being confused and easily see the comparison between shades. I wish Lorac would do away with the mega pros and just make quality A+ color themed 16 palettes ? I would buy them all!
Yay! I just ordered this at Kohl’s for $35.20 less $20 Kohl’s cash with free shipping! It cost me a whopping $15. ?
