Sneak Peek: Urban Decay XX Vintage Eyeshadows Photos & Swatches

Urban Decay XX Vintage Eyeshadows
Urban Decay XX Vintage Eyeshadows

To celebrate their 20th anniversary, the Urban Decay XX Vintage Eyeshadow collection features 12 shades from long ago. Some of these we saw more recently in Vice palettes, but some I don’t recall seeing for quite awhile (and some I’ve never personally seen). Here are swatches! 🙂

Thank you for these! I was excited for pallor, but the color of the swatch wasn’t what I was expecting! I’ll have to think a bit more on this now before I hit buy!

Love that they re released for us OGs I still have some of my tokens and most of these shades. However I will be picking up some backups of some favorites I doubt they are formulated as good as they used to be. Especially the really old ones.

Hmm, this looks like a mixed bag. UV-B looks like the same faded quality as in XX Vice Reloaded -not good. Frostbite looks like fallout city. Snow and Rush look interesting, could double as highlighters. Chains is the best by far here, but I think I have dupes. Even though I have Gash in Vice Reloaded, I ordered the single, and the swatch here looks more red, which I’m pretty happy about. I never had the original Gash, so I have no idea how close this one is.

Those are some great classics, though one of my favorites from Urban Decay was Mary Jane a silvery blue. Mine broke a while back I wish they would rerelease it!

Frostbite, Plague, and Gash <3 <3 <3

I hope they do a vintage lipstick series too. It's sad that UD was the king of unconventional colors, went "basic" and started reincorporating "weird" shades long after many other brands had repopularized them.

UB-V has long been a favorite of mine. In my mind the original was a little less purple, but I still love it. I have always loved Roadstripe too. And Gash. And Plague. And Vapor. And Snow. And Spare Change. Sigh… I need them all

SWF is on the US site, but I hit pan on mine months ago and have been told it’s discontinued by Urban Decay when I contacted them- I can not get it anywhere in Canada – and I looked pretty hard. I guess it’s discontinued but they still have lots of stock in the states. I’m pretty sad as its my favorite eye shadow ever.
Unrelated: but we never got Aura either, and might not get these new/rereleases 🙁

I like Plague and Gash but UD uses carmine in their shadows, which is a no-go for me. And something in their purples is an ingredient of doom for my eyes, too. So oh well.

Chains. Omg, makes me feel demented that I don’t recall it. Prob would not have worn it 20 ago. Maybe now. Will have to stash shop, once the dupes are up. Btw, pallor was pinker, but the lipstick wasn’t. Hope you guys are right about the l/s reissues. I liked the twist off two piece tokens. Real metal. Had more love for UD then than now. You’ve cited the reasons. Corporate buyout is prob behind the mainstreaming of UD. Glad they are recognizing us OGs, their original customer base.

Will this re-release be available at Sephora?

Gash is my old school favorite eyeshadow of all time and my first eyeshadow that I have hit serious pan on. I have it in the super old metal tin that looks like a man hole cover. It is more than 13 years old. I don’t use it anymore bc of how old it is… but has a sentimental value to me.
