Sneak Peek: Urban Decay XX Vintage Nail Colors Photos & Swatches
Urban Decay XX Vintage Nail Colors
In honor of the brand’s 20th anniversary, they’ve re-released 20 shades in a capsule collection known as Urban Decay XX Vintage Nail Color (each shade will retail for $10.00). The polishes come in a vintage, plain cardboard box, while the nail lacquer is packaged in today’s packaging. Here are swatches of the shades:
I had Gash and I think Frostbite back in the day. The consistency was awful, they got goopy within a year and I threw them out.
I don’t have any browns in my collection, but I may have to remedy that with smog! It looks quite lovely and I think I can pull it off on my skin tone
I loooove these. Dang! I want Bruise for sure, but at least 5 others…
I have the other two incarnations of Bruise, I bought this one too! I hope it’s truly the same and not just the name.
Same! I just got mine and haven’t tested it yet. It looks so much greener here and in the new bottle.
Oooh, these are pretty! I especially like Pallour, Asphyxia, Smog, and Roach. Asphyxia sold out fast
Right? I was annoyed! I hope it comes to other stores
I thought I was only going to need Mildew… But looking at these swatches I might also need Bruise, Roach, and Radium (just because I love Marie Curie).
The Mildew, Roach, and Uzi polishes where the first UD products I ever owned back in ’96 when I was a grunge teenager 🙂
Haven’t decided if I’m going to pick any of them up yet though, because I’m trying to keep my polish collection small.
I was expecting them to be more duo chrome.
Thanks for the swatches. Saved my money.
Bruise! Be still my beating heart.
Oh my gosh pallor looks like Chanel atmosphere which I missed and regret! Is it close? Waiting for the review and dupe list <3
Uzi looks like Chanel’s Steel as well, and at $10, that’s a steal!
Atmosphere is more sheer with stronger pink to light gold duochrome shimmer. You can try to find it on eBay. That’s where I bought mine and it’s so pretty layered over a light color.
The duochrome don’t seem to have as strong a color shift as I hoped, but there’s still really nice shades for fall/winter!
Im getting pallor, no questions no doubt, such a nice colour and completely my style!
I remember when these were in the medicine bottle packaging. My friend loaned me Asphyxia and I didn’t want to give it back. She didn’t forget I had it, though. Lol.
There are some great fall colors here, but nothing super striking to me. Mildew is a pretty color, though.
These are beautiful! The colors area so much more impressive of the polishes than the eyeshadows.
I’m so looking forward to the reviews. I really like Frostbite and Pallor. Bruise and Mildew are also very interesting. I would sort of hate answering the question, what so you have on your nails, when wearing mildew, though 🙂
I had lots of these in the 90’s.I was thinking of getting some just for nostalgia but they definitely aren’t looking like duochromes from the swatches.I wonder if they’ll ever bring back the flavored shimmer body powders like Honey and Marshmallow or the Cinnammon I used to literally bathe in those before a concert or a special event! They were so fun I saved several for way longer than I should of but threw them out eventually so they didn’t go rancid. They were edible so you think they would of gotten bad at some point.
They all look great from the photos. My fave would be Bruise, followed by Roach
BTW, pink did make me puke back in 96.
I honestly want almost all of them! Strangely, I had forgotten how beautiful these were. But now that I remember… I am going gaga for Pallor, Oil Slick, UV-B, Plague, Bruise, etc. And I already have waaay too many nail polishes!
Hm…I had Bruise – it was my first UD product ever – and I don’t recall it looking anything like that. Maybe I’m mixing it up with Roach. I recall it bring a stro ger, darker duochrome. But regardless really…I gotta have…
You are correct, the new Bruise is nothing like the original. The new version is much lighter and almost frosty. The other was a deep, rich, duochrome shimmer.
Same and you are correct. This looks like nothing like it. Beautiful, but nothing like it.
Really digging these, but also wished they had changed the name on “Uzi.” That just feels really gross when framed by today’s current events.
OMG these colors !! I will be looking out for these !!! OMG that UVB and uzi lord !!! I must look and find some of these
I do hope they updated the formula… all my old UD polishes were insta-chippers. My favorite of these is Uzi. <3
20 years? I feel old. In high school I definitely had asphyxia – my mum liked it- and I think mildew, plague, uzi and radium. I wore them all frequently. Drugstore options were just pinks, reds and sheers. Then there was hard candy pastels, the dead opposite style. Thanks hot topic for UD…I felt so edgy! I had the manic panic hair to complement it too. Oooohhhhh, 90s.
I have never wanted mildew, until today… 🙂
Bruise and Radium are FANTASTIC on you, but I also love the way Pallor looks! So cute!
Bruise is fun. I’d like it in the spring!
The names are funny. MIldew, Smog, and Roach looks good. At $10 for one, I’ll probably pick up two.
I think you must have received the only bottle of Asphyxia, lol! It was gone from the website instantly, I’ve seen no other reviews, and it’s not even on eBay. Hoping they come up with more! My inner 90’s teenager bought all the rest and I’d like to complete the assortment. Bruise was the first one I bought at Hot Topic in 96 (along with acid rain lipstick, i’d love to have that again!), and it didn’t look anything like the new version. I’m so glad they are doing these vintage collections, even though my wallet isn’t so happy and it’s making me feel old =p
Dam these UD re releases make me feel old 😉 it’s amazing how unique these were back then in the sea of reds, pinks and nudes. Now, they are no longer unique…boring even to the nail aficionado that’s now used to the duochromey, holos and glitter bombs out there
