Sneak Peek: Make Up For Ever Artist Color Shadows - Metallic Finish Photos & Swatches
Make Up For Ever Metallic Color Shadows | Metallic Finish
Over the next few days, I’ll be sharing swatches of the newly released Make Up For Ever Artist Color Shadow ($17.00 for 0.08 oz.) range. Today’s swatches feature shades with a Metallic finish, which range from more of a pearly sheen to a very intense, foil-like sheen. The new formula seems to be less thick with less creaminess compared to the prior formula, so picking up product seems easier, while I’ve had good luck blending out and applying most of the shades I’ve tried so far and most had good pigmentation.

Thanks Christine for sharing these. .I’ve been really excited to try these. That fir tree green looks really interesting and unique (in the swatch). I’m almost positive I don’t have a color quite like it and my collection is pretty vast so that’s saying something. Is that particular shade unique to you or is it just me?
It’s not unique to me, sorry!
Well, thank goodness that this batch doesn’t appear to have lost its shade integrity as have some of the previous finishes have with several shades!
I really want Steel to wear with MAC Vex eyeshadow for a very complex smokey eye look, even though I know that grays are not my “friends” complexion wise. But I spot a pinky (or purplish?) shift in Steel that could make it work?
Nancy, my sincerest apologies. I’m losing it. Sheesh! I confused the dang pink granite with the pink chrome earlier in my comments. I feel so lame. Gad. Smh. I kinda wonder how long I’ve been loving ‘pink granite’ when its ‘pink chrome’ that I’ve owned all along? I immediately saw my mistake when I saw Christine’s swatch of it here. I have most of the 800’s and 900’s.
Sorry, Christine. I hope I didn’t confuse anyone. I feel like an idiot. Too many colors, names and numbers for my little brain today (and well, for who knows how long since I apparently have been bragging about ‘pink granite’?)
Don’t feel bad, Anne; I cannot keep any of MUFE’s numbers up in my head to save my life! LOL! Hey, Pink Granite and Pink Chrome would be easy to mix up, that’s why I prefer when brands name their shades ala MAC, UD, even ColourPop.
I just wish the name would actually describe the color. Take ME612 Silver Brown for example…do you see any silver in Christine’s swatch ? I’ve been noticing lately that companies are naming their eyeshadow, lipstick etc. with “color” names that don’t make any sense.
These look good, best of the bunch. In this case I’m glad to hear they’re a little softer. The only metallic I had was Gunmetal and I actually destashed it because it was so dense and the surface would get hard after a few uses.
Christine – are some these new shadows still marketed as blushes? I know some of the shadows in the 700, 800 and 900 range (like ME912 Orchid) used to fall into this category. Has that changed? I love those oranges, reds and purples as eye shadows but the blush tag makes me hesitant to use them in the eye area.
They are mixed for use, as they were before. The back of the pan shows either an illustration of an eye or a face, which is in line with past products in the line-up that say where they’re to be used (and past products would show multiple illustrations to indicate multiple parts).
Stunning, gorgeous and divine!
Again, I’m curious for your review of the metallics since they and the satins are my favorite Make Up For Ever formulas. ME614 is my favorite dark brown and the swatch looks the same. Still, I’m glad I bought a few backups….I really love it ?
I like some of those duochromes, and I especially like Silver Brown for an everyday eye shadow for work
That garnet black looks luscious. If it’s not new, I’ve never paid any attention to it before. It’s one I really, really must get. Killer color.
These swatches are nice, Christine. And, these colors are stunning!
Anne: I just read your response to Nancy. That ‘splains it! Shockingly, I do not own Pink Chrome.. (I’m going to double check because these shades are freaking confusing to me too). In any event, Pink Chrome is gorgeous! It will be going on the list!!!
I just read your — I read your response to Nancy, lol. Anyway, Pink Chrome is so beautiful. It’s not like the Nars DI w/ the too reflective problem. It’s actually quite sedate on me. The old formula is quite creamy. I have partially hooded eyes and I love to pack it on my lid over a LM caviar stick and blot off the excess. I adore this color. I’d put it in my top 5 of all time. It just depends on how well you can wear pink on your lid. This guy is pinkish, rosy-ish mauve and it’s so perfect with a neutral matte transition color. I hope they didn’t mess with the formula on this one. Again, sorry for the confusion. I do need to look at Pink Granite, lol.
Love the finish and all colors for ne except the acid green and the yellow immediately following it.
I love MUFE except the preference for numbers over names. As a dyslexic, my recall of numbers is almost non-existant. Grrt.
I have my eyes on Fir Tree Green!
I’m feeling the blues on row 2! Have no blues from the orig formula
I’m not sure if this has been asked yet , but which shadows are the new shades? If I’m understanding right, the formula is new to all of the shadows. In addition there are some new shadow colors too. I don’t know why I’m so confused, my brain is burned out from the holidays…
You’d probably do better to think of it is as a new formula + new shades – quite a few of the shades have changed in color/finish, even if the name/number is the same!
Now I get it !! Thanks
HI Christine & everyone!
Well, I’m still a bit disappointed. MUFE’s new shadows don’t seem better and only a few seem like new colors. I went to my Sephora to buy up the last of the old ones, and to my chagrin, nothing really colorful available except a fuchsia purple one, which didn’t swatch well, so I didn’t get it. There are only two colors that catch my eye here, the Navy and the Fir Tree (the latter only because I don’t have green similar to this). So, I think I’ll be saving my money for Sonia B.’s (of Sweet Makeup Temptations blog) brushes due out via Beautylish. I really, really wanted an awesome palette for the holidays and after Pat McGrath’s didn’t do so great in Christine’s ratings (and are unavailable here without adding a lot for shipping) AND I bombed out a little on my last three palette purchases, I figure that’s more than a sign to wait it out. I even bought an organic company’s little holiday palette on sale last week, “Gypsy” from BOHO Green’s Bohemian Artist Collection, and was disappointed. It swatches well and goes on nicely, but the colors just don’t coordinate well for me or on me. Boo hoo! No dream palette for Christmas!
Navy is the only one calling me.
Some of these blues are absolutely stunning!
