Sneak Peek: Make Up For Ever Artist Color Shadows - Iridescent Finish Photos & Swatches

Make Up For Ever Artist Color Shadows | Iridescent Finish

Over the next few days, I’ll be sharing swatches of the newly released Make Up For Ever Artist Color Shadow ($17.00 for 0.08 oz.) range. Today’s swatches feature shades with an Iridescent finish, which has a pearly to metallic sheen with soft shimmer. It seemed to be less sparkly compared to the previous iteration of the finish. So far, I’ve had good luck applying, blending, and wearing most of the shades I’ve tried from this finish but found that some of the overlapping shades between the new and old formula were significantly different in color (to the point where I feel like the names should have been different).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Sapphire looks like a very good blue for me. I’m putting together a small grouping and it may just make the cut. Bronze isn’t what I expected. It’s so green brassy. I haven’t run a comparison, but I’m eyeballing pink granite, a shade I own, and it doesn’t look anything like its predecessor.

Wow just running some comparisons and indeed, pink granite is a totally different beast! I vastly prefer the OLD version.. the new looks a whole heck of a lot like the NEW pinky earth which is also different (different finish too). Why would they create new shades which are so close they would be difficult to differentiate on the eye.

Sapphire is different. Win. I like the new.

Bronze is different. I prefer the old. It’s more fitting of the label.

I own the old Bronze and it’s more smoldery (yeah like actual bronze), this one is on the bright side (like what Bronze Khaki used to be, and Bronze Khaki now is way different).

I’m finding I like the dark blues and navys better this time around and might get one or two.

I have the original pink granite and this picture of the color looks more like my eyeshadow than the picture of the original color, which is darker and described as a taupe. But, I’ve never considered my shadow to be anything other than a medium rosy-mauve. I’m nowhere close to hitting pan on it, but I sure hope they didn’t mess with this shade. I absolutely LOVE it. Perfect for cool undertones and green/hazel eyes.

So weird.. I pulled my MUFE Z palette and my orig pink granite is definitely not like this new swatch, more muted; has mauvey rosy tone. I bought when the originals were released.

Anyway, your post inspired me and I wore a couple for LOTD yesterday. I love M546 (dark purple taupe) as well. It’s rather like the matte version of my orig pink granite… a touch warmer perhaps. I have neutral skin leaning cool w green/hazel eyes and YES.. these shadows are great for our colouring!

Wendy, I messed up royally. I confused Pink Granite with Pink Chrome. I corrected that with Nancy and I forgot to correct it with you. I’m sure Pink Granite is lovely, but I have been calling my Pink Chrome, Pink Granite for I don’t know how long. Most of my MUFE purchases have been in the 800s and 900s, and for some reason, I didn’t catch my error until Christine posted the new Pink Chrome. Then, I was kicking myself. Really sorry to cause the confusion.

Ooh, I like these ones! Lots of pretty shades, and nicely pigmented. Oh hai, Lime Green, English Pink, and Pink Granite. I do wish Pearly Gray Beige was cooler, though. I would call it more of a sunlit sand type shade. Really lovely, but not the color I’m looking for.

My much beloved Pink Granite, which *was* one of my favorite pinky taupes of all time, has been destroyed by their reformulation. ? I suppose I had better use what’s left of mine sparingly.
Out of the others, I spot at least a few others that likewise look off compared to their OG versions.

Nancy, I’m going to have to take a look at Pink Granite in store. It’s like we’re talking about two different shades. My original Pink Granite looks like the current picture (but might be a tad darker, pix can change with lighting and angle a bit). But, this is wierding me out, lol. I’ve twice gone back to mine and swatched it while reading these comments. I don’t have a clue what’s going on. Biz-aaarrrre! Maybe this color changes on different skin tones, I don’t know.

I haven’t tried this brand but there are 4 shades here that are speaking (loudly ?) to me. Thanks for the swatches – can’t wait to see them on your gorgeous eyes.

I kind of feel like MUFE’s refourmulation is a case of “it ain’t broke, so why are you fixing it?” That said, this finish seems to have fared better than the diamond and matte finishes.

I own the old i328 Bronze and it’s much darker and more foresty than this one. Nevertheless, these all swatch nicely. Irridescent and Matte were my favorite finishes. A few of my other irridescents (Reptile, Pinky Earth, which are two of my favorite lid colors ever) were traded to Team Satin 🙁

Your efforts (and arms) are much appreciated, Christine.

Amen! So many lines carry only a cool, deep royal purple or a warm, yellow-based violet. That’s it! Those are the choices! There are a zillion shades of purple and I’d like to see something different for a change. When was the last time you saw a periwinkle? There are grey-purples, blue-purples, pink-purples, red-purples, berry-purples, yellow-purples — all in different shades and tones. It’s past time to see them! Here’s hoping!
