Just Add Tinsel (48)

Sephora Just Add Tinsel (48) Lipstories Lipstick ($8.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a medium-dark gray with cool, silver and teal pearl. It had medium coverage, which was buildable to semi-opaque pigmentation. The consistency was lightweight, smooth, and had some slip but was a little on the thin side. The color went on somewhat evenly but could have been more pigmented and gentler to my lip lines, as there was a bit of product that pulled into them. It wore well for four hours and was lightly moisturizing over time.

Formula Overview

$8.00/0.14 oz. - $57.14 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to be "lightweight" with "full-coverage color in one swipe." The majority of shades were pigmented with semi-opaque to full color payoff in a single layer, as described. The more shimmery shades tended to be a bit sheerer overall, while the mattes and creams were usually closer to opaque in coverage.

The textures were typically creamy, lightweight, and not too thin or too thick on the lips, so they were comfortable to apply and to wear. There were some shades where the color pulled into my deeper lip lines upon application, and it was more or less noticeable just depending on the color and finish of the particular.

Some shades seemed hydrating and others were non-drying. They lasted anywhere from three to over six hours on me. There was a subtle, sweet, fruity scent (I couldn't detect it on, just in the tube), and I haven't noticed any taste after wearing them.

Ouch (49)

Sephora Ouch (49) Lipstories Lipstick ($8.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a medium, green-leaning teal with warm, gold sparkle. It had semi-sheer pigmentation that did not build up well, as the texture was chunkier and had a tendency to clump up on my lips. It was a really nifty shade, but it applied so poorly that it would be hard to wear without a primer/lip liner underneath. It lasted for four hours but settled into my lip lines heavily. It was a little hydrating, though!

Well, Ouch really lives up to its name. Eeks. That looks like clumps of pistachio pudding. It could have been a cute lipstick, though.

Ouch looks well-named! I don’t really get the idea having lipstick shades like teal or green be sheer, unless they’re supposed to go on top of another similar shade.

Tinsel would look like death on me, but it looks pretty groovy on you, Christine!! I like it, just not for me.

I’ve got Ouch! and I don’t think I’d give it an F but I do wish the quality was better. I’ll probably use it for layering. Mostly I just wanted the cute cactus packaging (I bought Desert Trip too).

I obviously have a bias because I consider shades like these to be very unattractive but it looks like OUCH is quite aptly named, given the painful rating.

Try OCC Rime Lip Tar if you like Ouch.

It’s one of my favorites, but I’ve been wanting something in a more convenient bullet form. Sadly this won’t be it.

They look like they have the same finish/effect to me, but the grey doesn’t stand out as such a problem because of the way it sort of averages to the wearer’s lip color. Having said that, I really like the way Just Add Tinsel creates a veil of silver grey with the lip color shading through like you’d normally find in a gloss product. I might seriously consider getting this (or trying to get the same effect by using one of my glittery greys plus a balm).
