Round-up: Urban Decay Comfort Matte Vice Lipsticks

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick

Urban Decay Comfort Matte Vice Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.11 oz.) is notable for its very creamy, smooth, and lightweight feel while still delivering high coverage. A lot of the Matte Revolution lipsticks shades can be found within this finish, though the Comfort Matte formula is less dense and has more shine to it than the Matte Revolutions (which felt more velvety). The wear varied from four to six hours, depending on the intensity of the shade. Some shades are neither hydrating nor drying, while others were lightly hydrating.  For more on how the finish compares to other shades, please see this post.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I really love this finish in the new Vice line. For the shades I purchased, I’m finding a lot of consistency in opaqueness, hydration, and wear. I really also love the fact that this finish makes mattes more accessible to people who tend to not do so well with traditional mattes. I still want to get Psycho and Menace from this line bc I LOVE your swatches! Thanks for all your posts/reviews on these!

They were pretty consistent! In fact, about half of the “inconsistencies” turned out to be discrepancies between the press release and actual finishes – there are at least four or five that were just wrong on my press release vs. how UD labels them on their website now that they have launched.

Along with a few not exciting purchases of essentials (i.e. cleanser, primer, etc.), I finally caved in and purchased the Benefit Cheekathon palette. But I’ve been stalking the Nordstrom website a few times a day in the hopes of scoring the MAC C’est Chic palette immediately — can’t wait to have that one! Also have my eye on the new Kat Von D Serpentina palette which will be at Sephora on July 5th, but I may wait for reviews on that one first (yeah, right).

I will go and check that out – the press release listed it as a Comfort Matte, which is where I got my info when I posted as there was no retailers who had the products on and I, mistakenly, assumed the brand’s official release was the final word! I’m so sorry for my big mistake – I will go confirm with UD and then remove if since I’m sure that’s wrong!

Not that big a deal — I suspect the fault is with UD’s original press release. Thank you for all your efforts swatching and reviewing the lineup. Despite my best efforts to hold off buying any, since they’re permanent, I wound up with 5 (Tampered, Crisis, Amulet, ZZ, and Violate), and am planning on getting Moshpit and maybe Notorious in the fall.

Thanks Christine, for all your hard work in reviewing and swatching these! After going through my stash, I think I can eventually narrow it down to only 5-7 lipsticks, will be going for the pinks/plums/coral pinks, which are colors that I don’t have a lot of. Not bad for such a big lipstick junkie like me

Well, that’s only because I probably have like +150 lipsticks and glosses! I did do a purge last weekend, and almost all the ones thrown out were unflattering colors that I got as GWP or heavily fragranced, and a few had gone rancid. But after going through everything, I realized I already had an awesome collection, so I don’t feel the need to buy tons of new lippies, just colors that I don’t already have 🙂
