Formula Overview
$12.39/0.08 oz. - $154.88 Per Ounce
The lipstick is supposed to have 8-hour wear, no transfer, "vivid matte color," and a "naked-lip feel." Per the brand, it should "deliver opaque matte color in one coat." Well, "coat" is difficult because of how firm, stiff, and dry the physical lipstick is, so it was not possible to get an even, fluid one-coat and had to really be pulled and tugged the across painfully and then I used my lips to really blend the color together.
I'd recommend using a lip brush or first swatching the top layer of the lipstick on the back of your hand to help soften/warm it up, which made it marginally more pliable on my lips, though still one of the stiffer lipsticks I've had the unpleasant experience of trying.
It felt very lightweight, but the matte formula was clingy and made my lips look drier/emphasized lip texture and caught on flakiness. If your lips are not naturally pretty smooth, I think this would be difficult to make look even and smooth, even with exfoliating.
Once I was able to get past the stiffness, it did have semi-opaque to opaque color payoff, and it was very long-wearing and fairly transfer-resistant, so it did make it through a meal. Most of the shades stained to some degree, too, which helped the longevity and look of the lipstick as it wore down.
The formula was lightly drying overall, though not nearly as drying as I would have expected (nor as drying as it felt in its clinginess). There did not seem to be any scent or taste.

What a shame that these are so bad, and MATTE!!! Otherwise, I might want these but not with those ratings and the MATTE finish (when, oh when, will matte pass out of style?)
I hope there are some good formula’s coming down the pike. Would be nice to go to purchase something and not have to worry that you love the one shade that got an F in review!
In The Money is a beautiful shade for autumn, but I already have enough similar enough shades of regular matte or satin formulas that it’s not something I need.
In the Money is a great shade, but if you can’t apply the lipstick without wrecking your lips – something this long standing brand should know.
I think a brand like Revlon should know how to make lipsticks by now. And yes, they do know so why they have failed so much with these seems a mystery to me. They really should have sent this back to the lab and worked on the formula. These days with so many brands and social media a bad release can do a lot of harm to a brand.
I do like the colour of Lip Boom, I do have dupes, after all, I do love the red lipsticks so much!
