Bombshell Red
Revlon Bombshell Red Super Lustrous Lipstick ($8.49 for 0.15 oz.) is a medium-dark, pink-red with cool undertones and a natural sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable color coverage in a single layer that applied evenly and smoothly over my lips without tugging. The texture was lightweight, emollient but not thick or overly creamy, and was comfortable to wear. The color stayed on nicely for five hours and was hydrating over time.

The formula is supposed to have "lightweight color and moisturizing shine" with "buildable color payoff" and a "gliding, smooth application." It's a good formula for those who like medium, buildable coverage with a smooth, balmy consistency that glides across lips easily but doesn't feel too slippery while worn.
They're comfortable to wear with light hydration but tend to wear a shorter length of time--anywhere from two to four hours with a couple of shades reaching a little beyond four hours. What I like most about the formula is the finish: it's luminous and more smoothing, so it's kinder to lips with imperfection or prone to dryness/flaking. The formula has slip but doesn't have any heaviness or slickness that makes it prone to getting into lip lines.

Midnight Mystery
Revlon Midnight Mystery Super Lustrous Lipstick ($8.49 for 0.15 oz.) has a blackened base paired with blue and violet shimmer. It had a soft shine and moderate pearl throughout, and while it looked rather navy blue in the tube, it looked more like a blackened plum applied as it was semi-sheer and not very buildable.
As a result, a lot of my natural color came through, so this shade may look dissimilar across people depending on their natural lip pigmentation/color. The consistency was emollient, almost a little oily, and slid around more noticeably during wear. The color went on unevenly, and there was product that built up in my lip lines and some clumping while I tried to build it up. It wore well for four hours and was moisturizing while worn.

Bombshell Red is very pretty, but not something I need. And it is a mystery how Midnight Mystery got approved for production. It’s awful!
Yikes! That Midnight Mystery leaves nothing to be desired! R&D letting that one out the gate is pretty bad.

Such a shame about Midnight Mystery. I love the idea and color but the execution isn’t good at all.
I haven’t purchased a Revlon lipstick in decades but that Bombshell Red is one I am almost certain to buy!

It’s almost time for the annual “open-smell-swatch” all the lipsticks, always a fun and sad time, rediscovering loved ones as well as toss other loved ones and wonder why on earth did I buy/keep this, only to say, maybe I’ll use it this year and put it back. Long story there, but maybe when it’s done I’ll see that I need Bombshell Red. 🙂
