Rare Beauty Support & Compliment With Gratitude Lip Balms Reviews & Swatches
Support
Rare Beauty Support With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm ($16.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a muted, medium brown with warm, rosy undertones and a cream finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in one layer–from the get-go–as opposed to sheer, buildable coverage as marketed. For those who prefer higher coverage, it might be a surprise hit, but for those looking for true, sheer coverage… pass. A little went a long way, so it wasn’t even a formula that was that easily sheered out.
The texture was lightweight, creamy, and smooth while being moderately emollient. It felt like more of a lip balm/lipstick hybrid than pure lip balm, though it retained some of the balmy shine. It lasted nicely for four hours and felt lightly moisturizing while worn.

It's supposed to be a "hydrating lip balm with a kiss of dewy, builable color." They have a lightweight, creamy consistency that felt a bit more like creamy gel with moderate slip but decent application. A few shades could applied more evenly or stayed out my deeper lip lines better, though.
The bigger "downside" to the formula was that most shades were more medium to semi-opaque, buildable, rather than "sheer color, soft shine" and then buildable. They lasted between two and four hours and felt lightly hydrating, but there was a beachy, floral scent and a slight taste.

Compliment
Rare Beauty Compliment With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm ($16.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a muted, medium plum with subtle, warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It had medium to semi-opaque color coverage in a single layer, which made it a lot more pigmented than described, though it was on the buildable side–it just started at a higher coverage level from the get-go.
The texture was lightweight, creamy without being too slippery, so it glided readily across my lips but didn’t feel like it was going to slide right off. The color applied evenly and didn’t emphasize my lip lines, which was nice for a more emollient formula. It wore well for three and a half hours and felt lightly hydrating over time.

If the main reason they didn’t get A’s is because they are more pigmented than sheer (even though the brand claims sheer) AND they are moisturizing formula to boot I’m all in. I think this formula looks comfortable and I can always pat on with my finger, like I do with my pigmented matte lip sticks, to get a softer color. I don’t mind reapplying a product as long as it wears off well and doesn’t settle in lip lines or leave a ring stain around the edge of the mouth.
These look so luscious! I’m a sucker for a nice sheen.
These colors look beautiful but I’m bothered that these have a taste to them. Particularly a floral taste. I love the L’Oreal and Revlon equivalents so much that these are a pass.
Both are such lovely, perfect for an easy daytime lip! I do have UD Crisis which does closely enough dupe Compliment. But my dupe for Support, Nars Sheena, may just be different enough to justify getting it ?
I have With Gratitude and it is lovely I am glad that I purchased it.
I like Support’s rosy brown shade, but I think there are much better quality dupes around.
