Baby Doll Against BS
Pretty Vulgar Baby Doll Against BS Bury Them with a Smile Matte Lipstick ($24.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a medium pink with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had good pigmentation–just shy of full coverage–that applied evenly across the lips and did not drag or tug. The consistency was smooth, thin but not clingy, and comfortable to wear for the four hours this shade lasted on me, though there was some color that had sunk into my lip lines (both initially as well as later on during wear). The formula felt neither drying nor hydrating over time.
It’s supposed to have “full coverage” with a hydrating, “long-lasting” formula and an “ultimate matte finish.” I only purchased three shades (there are eight) to try, but based on those three, the formula has a smooth, velvety consistency that is thinner but not clingy. There was enough slip that they did not tug when applied directly to the lips, but they did not slide around while worn. There was a tendency for color to settle into my lip lines a bit, which was more noticeable with the lightest shade I tried. They lasted between four to six and a half hours and were non-drying. I didn’t notice any scent or taste.

Darling Be Daring
Pretty Vulgar Darling Be Daring Bury Them with a Smile Matte Lipstick ($24.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a medium-dark, magenta purple with warm, pink undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff that applied evenly and smoothly on the lips. The lipstick was smooth, velvety with just enough slip to make for easy application but prevented the color from sliding around while worn. This shade wore well for six and a half hours, left a faint stain behind, and was neither drying nor hydrating.

Blood Flower
Pretty Vulgar Blood Flower Bury Them with a Smile Matte Lipstick ($24.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a bold, medium-dark red with cool, blue undertones and a satin finish. The color payoff was mostly opaque, but my lip freckle peeked through slightly. The color applied evenly, which made it easy to wear on its own (sometimes, deeper shades can appear streaky when they are not full coverage). It had a thin, lightweight texture that was velvety in feel and did not drag on the lips. The color lasted well for over six and a half hours on me, while the formula was non-drying.

Love the packaging on these! I’ll probably want to buy at least one for that reason alone. The formula seems to be decent enough on these that I’ll probably get more than one I like the colours.
It’s a solid lipstick formula 🙂
They look very nice. I wish I could test them though.
Here’s hoping you can sometime!
BABY DOLL is probably the only shade in the whole range that interests me. But I’m not sure if I want to spend the $29CAN on it.
$29CAN? Ouch!
I’d much rather spend $27CAN on another Bésame lipstick because I’m smitten with the formula. 😉
They all appear to be good quality, although fairly basic shades. I do like Darling Be Daring, but I’ve already got quite a few purple or magenta lipsticks. But that packaging, though! I’ve got to find at least ONE shade that I’m crazy for in this line just for that!
Yep, these three seem dupable!
These are gorgeous, where can you buy them in Canada ?
Sephora is the exclusive retailer for this brand as far as I’m aware!
Thank you so much Christine for reviewing these !!
Despite the packaging being cute I sadly can not justify the price tag , sadder yet I have such a collection already !
Every item from their collection aside from the packaging seems like something I already have . 🙁
For just doing makeup on myself I have quite the collection and even the eyeshadows seem like I can dupe the shades in either my toofaced chocolate palettes or the Urban decay pallets .
The packagaing is absolutely adorable though and deserve a place on the makeup table .
Love all of them and you wear them well.
Thank you, Alice! 🙂
I have to go and see this new brand. I’m really curious. I love the pink and the red shades. I know you said they were non-drying but my super dry lips have trouble with so many matte formulas. I love the little bird on the bullet.
If you are more sensitive, you may find it drying, but it could depend on any ingredient sensitivities!
You make Baby Doll look so good and tempting!
Aw, thanks Betty!
The colors look nice, but they seem very generic and it feels like I have seen them thousands of times. I really like the packaging and the motif, but I don’t feel like it’s worth it with their shade range. I like Back stabber and Prim and Proper, but I’m doubting that those colors are any different from the ones you bought in their banality.
True – I think they are dupable – but at the same time, probably a good start for their core range!
Pretty packaging, colors, and scores! This line looks promising!
Darling be Daring and Blood flower are both gorgeous. When I saw them I was so sure I’d have a lot of dupes. Colour me surprised when I had none at all, not for either one, well Ruby Woo, but that was way back in the list.
I also noticed that you have an excellent little thing on the dupe list, “saving” or “cost more”. Very helpful, It might have been there a long time, but I noticed it now.
Love, love your makeup here! So gorgeous!
