Pat McGrath Nude Romantique 2 & Veiled Rose SatinAllure Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Nude Romantique 2
Pat McGrath Nude Romantique 2 SatinAllure Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a muted, medium pink with soft, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had medium, buildable pigmentation, as marketed, that applied comfortably across my lips but had slight streaking along the edges and a bit of settling, though it wasn’t severe enough to be that noticeable in person.
The texture was lightweight, thin, and felt lightly hydrating over the four hours it wore for.

Formula Overview
$30.00/0.13 oz. - $230.77 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "medium buildable coverage" with a "satin shine finish" that is "comfortable" and "weightless." The texture was lightweight, on the thinner side but had good glide that it didn't feel clingy and seemed to be fairly forgiving of lip texture and imperfections. The coverage was more semi-opaque to opaque than true medium. They wore for four to six hours, depending on the richness of the shade.
Also worth pointing out: the price drop (from $38 to $28) reflects a change in the packaging, primarily felt in the cap, which is now a much thinner and lighter-weight plastic (reminiscent of the brand's mini lipsticks).

Nude Romantique 2
LELimited Edition. $30.00.
Veiled Rose
Pat McGrath Veiled Rose SatinAllure Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with neutral-to-warm undertones and a cream finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that applied fairly evenly to my lips, but it had enough slip that it was a touch streaky on the outer edge of my lips, though it wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance.
The lipstick had a smooth, particularly lightweight and thin feel without being clingy. It stayed on well for four hours and felt lightly moisturizing over time.

Dang! These are so soft and wearable looking for when I do one of my more intense or super smokey eye looks. I’m especially drawn to Veiled Rose. My only concern is that it may be just a little too close in color and finish to my beloved MAC Cosmo.
Both very pretty. I have discovered something about myself, which I learned while decluttering my lipsticks. I seem to only like and gravitate to really bold shades. Other than Twig and Whirl I don’t have any lighter shades of lipstick. I have all these bold reds/pinks/burgundy, etc. I think it is harder to find a more neutral and lighter shade that works for you and since I maybe haven’t found one, I just don’t buy them.
I am surprised by how much I love this formula. I actually tend to prefer matte or satin with a lipstick in general but these are so good. I ended up ordering all of them after trying and I really like every shade which also surprised me as I have had a difficult time with Pats other lipstick formulas and finding shades that actually really flatter me. A note, the price of these lipsticks on PMG’s website and on Sephora is $28 not $32.
I hope you purchased Elson 5. I am looking forward seeing that review. I want to know what reds compare to it and how it looks.
Nice, but not great for the price….
I agree with Nancy, both are lovely but close to Cosmo. One of my first MAC lipsticks. A complicated shade that I love.
Veiled Rose looks lovely, I do think I prefer MAC Brave though as it’s a bit cooler. How I love the Dupe List!
