Pat McGrath Divine Nude & Divine Rose LiquiLUST Matte Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Divine Nude
Pat McGrath Divine Nude LiquiLUST Matte Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a soft, rosy mauve with warmer undertones and a mostly matte finish. There seemed to be barely-there pearl that made me second-guess myself, but it appeared in the lip swatch as well as the arm swatch, and it registered later when I tried swatching it again…
The consistency was very fluid, which made it easy to apply and spread out over my lips, but there seemed to be a little too much product captured by the doe-foot. It had opaque color payoff that adhered to my lips and dried down quickly, but product did separate along my deeper lip lines as it was drying down. I noticed that it got smoother-looking as the product wore throughout the day–say two hours in–so it had a particularly nice wear down. It lasted well for five hours and felt lightly drying over time.

Formula Overview
$30.00/0.17 oz. - $176.47 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have opaque coverage in a "single swipe" that feels "lightweight" and leaves lips looking "smooth." The formula was opaque in a single layer, and the product applied fairly evenly and smoothly to my lips, but it didn't always dry down in the most flattering way. Sometimes, the set result emphasized my lip lines.
The texture was lightweight, creamy, and more fluid--but not heavy--so there was more product on the doe-foot applicator that I found was needed for one application. I noticed that the product seemed to soften and look smoother as I wore it, which was nice as it had a nice, gradual wear-down that was more and more flattering rather than wearing off strongly around the center of my lips. They lasted between five and six hours and felt lightly drying over time. I didn't notice any scent.

PPermanent. $30.00.
Divine Rose
Pat McGrath Divine Rose LiquiLUST Matte Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium-dark mauve with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer, which applied evenly and smoothly across my lips but did dry down in such a way that it separated along my lip lines.
I’d describe the texture was overly fluid as a result, and I’d use less product than “one swipe,” as less product gave me a slightly better dry down. It wore well for five hours and felt lightly drying over time, but it seemed to look better and smoother–no longer in my lip lines–after a couple of hours of wear.

These being only “lightly drying” may just do fine on me. After all, I’ve gotten used to wearing my handful of Sephora Cream Lip Stain dry-down lipsticks and my line MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick, so perhaps? If so, I think I would like Divine Nude. It’s simple enough that I wouldn’t feel funny about going all out with my eyeshadow. Then again, hardly anyone sees my lip color, so I suppose that shouldn’t matter.
Is there a name for that paradox of “I really want this shade but because this is a shade I love I already have it” but you’re still trying to justify it because that means you will wear the shade?
A Causal Loopstick?
You ARE good! Dying over here! 🧠🧠😂
😀
You nailed it! I must tons of have dupes of dupes of dupes but love them all!
These are nice colors, but it sounds like they are not necessarily worth an extra $10 above the decent liquid lipsticks by KVD.
Hi Christine, I haven’t tried a liquid lipstick since Guerlain Rouge G Orgueil, my HG lip colour :). The formula was creamy and hydrating but did transfer a lot – intrigued to know how Pat’s formula compares. The Armani/Nars liquid lip formula always seemed much more matte than Guerlain.
Pat McGrath’s dries down a lot more!
I really hate pink – not just because it’s too femme for me, but because my skin amps it like crazy to barbie/great-aunt levels – and it bums me out that PMG is going full Charlott Tilbury pink with all of her releases. I’m also worried that her fantastic lip products like the Luxe and MatteTrance are going by the wayside instead of having a fresh infusion of interesting colors and nudes. Nudes always sell.
I also can’t be the only one who isn’t wearing their liquid lipsticks because with the masks it’s hard to bother with a lipcolor that ends up on the fabric in a heartbeat AND dried out lips.
