Antidote
Pat McGrath Antidote MatteTrance Lipsticks ($38.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a medium-dark, magenta purple with warmer, pink undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a creamy, moderately slippery texture that did not adhere well to the inner area of my lip. The color gathered in my lip lines while I wore it, unfortunately. The lipstick stayed on well for five and a half hours, left a pink stain behind, and felt lightly drying.
The formula is supposed to be “richly pigmented” with “”supreme hydration” and “opulent matte opacity.” It’s a denser, firmer formula that takes a second to warm up against the lips, so the very first pull of the lipstick on the lips tugs slightly but then maneuvers smoothly across the lips without skipping or dragging. The lipstick was thicker on the lips, which ensured richer coverage and helped smooth out the texture of my lips but was less forgiving along the edges. For some of the deeper shades, I would recommend using a lip pencil or a lip brush to ensure crisper lines. For an hour or two, the majority of the shades had more of a satin finish that became more matte as the shine wore down. The wear was between four to eight hours and none felt hydrating over time for me; a few were non-drying while others were noticeably drying. There was no discernible scent or taste to the formula.

Formula Overview
$38.00/0.14 oz. - $271.43 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be “richly pigmented” with “”supreme hydration” and “opulent matte opacity.” The consistency was smooth, velvety, and dense without being too firm for one-stroke, glide-on application (I found the original shades to be slightly firmer compared to more newly released shades). They had nearly opaque to opaque coverage in one layer and most were buildable.
They had a subtle sheen--more satin-to-cream in finish--that wore down to a natural matte finish within an hour or two of wear. The formula lasted between four and eight hours on me, and while most weren't drying, they aren't "supreme[ly" hydrating either. They are, however, comfortable to wear over a longer period of time and reapply well. There was no discernible scent or taste to the formula.

McMenamy
Pat McGrath McMenamy MatteTrance Lipsticks ($38.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a deep burgundy with warm, red undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation and a more emollient consistency that gave it a stronger sheen and greater translucency compared to other shades. The lipstick was creamier and more slip, and it appeared almost grainy on the lips, rather than smooth and velvety like the other shades. It lasted for well over six hours, gathered in my lip lines over time, left a stain behind, but was moderately drying.

Deep Void
Pat McGrath Deep Void MatteTrance Lipsticks ($38.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a deep purple with subtle, cool undertones and a soft sheen. It had moderate slip, which gave it the shine, and it was quite creamy as it went on so it never tugged. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied fairly evenly, though this was not one of the better shades in the range. The color lasted for over six hours and left a stain behind but was on the drying side.

I really love Antidote. What a gorgeous color.
It’s very rich!
YES deep void!!!
🙂
I. KNOW. RIGHT!?
These look spongy in the macro shots! How weird!
I have heard that!
I’m hoping I have a dupe for Antidote, or I’m kissing $38 bye bye!
I hope you have a dupe!
These lipsticks look oddly porous in the closeups.
I can see what you mean!
Deep Void is my winner out of this launch. It will probably be the only one I pick up if I get any.
That seems to be everyone’s fave!
It sure would be nice if one could try these on in-store to see whether a shade *may* possibly work with their own lips. But I’ve yet to hear of these being sold through that means. Otherwise, I’d go see how Antidote did on my darker (and purpler! ?) lips. Oh well, I already have a ton of purple shades with possibly another one joining those tomorrow….stay tuned.
I think they’ll be in very, very select stores but definitely not many!
So far so good. I only need to worry about Elson or Full Panic mysteriously falling into my cart at Sephora. 😉
Haha! 😉
They are all so beautiful but Deep Void is gorgeous!! I may have to get it!
Let us know if you try it, Lunasol!
Expected better performance, as likely did everyone else. Resisted F3 on latest S order. The dogs would want to ‘kill the rat’ on a sequin bag. Vacuum til doomsday….
I still have sequins on my floor in places…
These are really vivid shades – certainly for the bold and fearless. I just love the middle shade, though the rating is not great. But it’s still an interesting range of lipsticks.
These are very deep and rich, for sure!
Its odd, but in the pictures of the bullets they look extremely dried out, but on the lips they don’t. Do they look like they’re dry in person?
Not to my eye, since I certainly don’t see that much detail in person!
Does the matte look of the bullet remain once it’s been used? It looks like it’s matte because of the texture, so it doesn’t seem like it’d stay that way.
The texture is the same regardless of the first use or the fifth use.
I’m really sad these aren’t all As. However, my wallet thanks you. Antidote is just beautiful.
No problem, Erin! 🙂
Look, I’m staring at Antidote and Deep Void and thinking… Christine, gimme a reason not to buy them. Because CP’s Panda is so close and ESP (Illamasqua) is gorgeous… (I have both but they’re *not the same*). I missed Colourpop’s Feminist and Deep Void is even more beautiful…
I think I’ve talked myself into this… not like it was hard…
Panda IS pretty close, though, and long-wearing with similar comfort on, I think 😉
Panda is great. I can live with Panda. But what to do about Deep Void. CP, bring back Feminist! Not that I think they heard me…
I love how these are all flattering shades for women of color! How refreshing! Sadly, because I am very fair with soft coloring, there isn’t much for me but yay!!! I’m happy Pat McGrath designed something she could wear well. How fun!
I’m sure I’ve got dupes but I want McMenamy just for the name. The name and shade both scream 90’s, in a good way
