Natasha Denona I Need a Nude Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
I Need a Nude
Natasha Denona I Need a Nude 15-Pan Small Eyeshadow Palette ($69.00 for 0.67 oz.) is a new, permanent neutral palette that leaned slightly warm-toned (more of a rose/peach undertone throughout) with a few neutral-toned shades that gave the color story a desaturated look without being very light or washed out. The quality was comparable to past ND releases, though this palette has more sparkly shades than typical for a palette, so those who prefer smoother finishes may find this too sparkly.

Formula Overview
-
The majority of the brand's eyeshadows are quite pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. The eyeshadows have improved over time, particularly with respect to longevity (without a primer). The original formula often creased on me within seven to eight hours, whereas the more current formula wears eight to nine hours with fading (instead of full-on creasing). The more matte finishes tend to be a bit more velvety, substantial, and less dry/powdery compared to prior iterations.
The metallic finish is often the creamiest, slightly denser in feel, but has excellent pigmentation, adhesion, and blendability. The sparkling shades can have some fallout, depending on how they're applied and how sparkly they are, so they sometimes work better with fingertips or a dampened brush; they can also run sheerer compared to other finishes.
Cream-Powders are the more unique formulation and tend to have firmer, almost stiff, consistencies and more semi-opaque, watercolor-esque coverage. They are longer-wearing, but they can take a few uses to learn how to use. This formula has also improved compared to when it first debuted--it is a bit more yielding now.

Mesh (506CM)
PiPPermanent in Palette.
Mia (507SW)
Mia (507SW) is a light pink with moderate, warm undertones and a more translucent base, as it was finer, wet-looking sparkle with a shiny finish. I wasn’t able to find anything specifically calling this shade out as transparent/sheer, and it appeared opaque in the brand’s promo swatches!
- Medium pigmentation
- Smooth, slightly dry to the touch, not too firmly-pressed, thin but not stiff
- Applied evenly and blended out nicely
- Long-wearing (8 hours before fading a bit)

I’m disappointed that this isn’t as it was first presented (though ND seems to have a genetic misunderstanding of what cool palettes should look like) but I’m pleased that the quality is so good. There are too many of those matte pinks that I don’t like and the shimmery peachy/nude shades are those I can dupe quite easily. Ditto some of the browns and taupes I liked best – Travertine, Filigree, etc.
I really do love this palette and to me it would seem the perfect companion to Glam, without the ridiculous naming system that that palette had. It’s not as cool toned as first thought, but it is still my kind of palette.
I always thought that there was a mid tone brown missing from Glam and here they are.
This will be my first eyeshadow purchase for the year.
It’s been a pleasure to have reviewed a really good eyeshadow palette.
I thought the same thing about Glam. Glam came when I didn’t have any cool-toned palettes but one; however sadly this one comes when I very much have most of these colors and so it’s not as special for me.
Weird. I love it, but I may not really “need” it with my still having UD Naked 2 plus CP “3” and Going Coconuts 9-pan palette? Also, a perfectly formulated dupe of the ABH Sultry palette by CColors. That said, it would certainly be nice to have all those in one place! Perhaps I’ll pick this up on Sephora Rouge sale in autumn.
It’s gorgeous!!! I really want to get it but trying to not buy anything new 🙁
Me too, I’m still in a no buy period, in my makeup life. There are too many products that need to be used and finished. It is sad, that so much money, is left in the drawers. I’m focusing on separating “need” from “want. It is a beautiful palette though.
I love this detailed review! Though it’s a beautiful nude palette it’s not my nude (too light).
I said I wasn’t interested in this because it is warmer than I expected…BUT, I have seen some.comments that this feels like a “bridge” palette between Glam and Biba. I have Glam and have wanted the warmer Biba, but won’t buy it in the large format. Can anybody who has all three (Glam, Biba, and Nude) comment on their similarities/differences?
I don’t yet have the new nude palette, but I have both glam and biba, and biba is extremely warm and intense. I hardly ever use it for that reason. I see this new palette as being a far better fit for my pale, Irish skin. 😊
Thanks for the reply! I used to love warmer colors, like seem to be in Biba, but now that my hair has become a cooler, blended gray instead of light auburn, I find that I can’t pull off the more orange-y warm tones as well.
I was able to see/swatch this on person today and, while it definitely leans warm, it does feel more neutral than I thought it would. It isn’t overly orangey, either. I might end up springing for this if it goes on sale. Maybe by then the previously mentioned ND taupe palette will be available for comparison.
I’ve been having fun with this. Silhouette doesn’t swatch well but it works beautifully to deepen the outer corner or layer over a pencil eye liner, it’s like a navy blue or deep gray, neutral, deep and richly pigmented. Gives a smokey look without the starkness of black.
I wasn’t surprised that this reviewed well. I just don’t need anymore of these colors and in a larger palette also. I have been trending away from larger palettes to smaller 4 or 5 pan palettes. They just suit me more now and are also really travel friendly.
It’s such an absolute bore, which makes it perfect, and I want it.
I’m a light/medium neutral shade that leans cool. This is the first palette in this color scheme that I’ve been able to really pull off. Others seem too red or too orange, but these shades all work so well with my skin tone. I agree with those that have said it’s a great companion to the Glam palette. Like Genevieve mentioned, the Glam palette could have really used a couple more midtone mattes. The Glam has been my all time favorite palette ever and now combining it with this palette I am able to get so many more looks out of it. I am very happy with my ability to wear these peachy/pink tones…finally! 😉
I always appreciate your thorough reviews and honest thoughts! I bought this palette and it has ended up being one of the few ND palettes I kind of regret buying! Mainly because the matte shades are just a bit too ashy and light for my deeper skin tone. It was so confusing to me seeing so many people enjoy it and I was like what am I missing!? But I have seen folks of similar skin tones say the same, so I feel validated lol. What I’m doing is pairing it with other mattes and using a different primer. It’s taking a bit more elbow grease than many of my other palettes, though. I almost wish she came out with a light and a deep version because “nude” isn’t often universal.
It is absolutely beautiful palette, so good to hear that it has also good ratings, but I have a Glam one and I’m wondering since the first time I laid my eyes on I Need a Nude if those 2 are not too close to each other…. If I didn’t have Glam, I’d buy this one instantly. I must check side by side comparison. What do you think?
I was able to look at these in person side-by-side today and I think they compliment each other very well, but are different enough to not be overly repetitive, if you like neutrals. INAN is definitely lighter and feels more “daytime”, while Glam has those deeper shades to make the more dramatic smokey looks. Glam has cooler overall tones and INAN leans to the warm side of neutral.
This palette looks incredible. I probably don’t need it between My Dream and Glam Face and Eye Light, but I want it regardless. I think it has the potential to be my every day palette (which is currently Glam Face and Eye).
These colours suit my undertone and preference for brightening the eyes under my glasses completely. Stunning.
