NARS Low Rider, Get Up Stand Up, Light My Fire Powermatte Lip Pigments Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Low Rider
NARS Low Rider Powermatte Lip Pigment ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had excellent pigmentation that covered the lips with smooth, even coverage. The texture was lightweight, thin but fluid (not watery), and spread easily across my lips without streaking or pulling into my lip lines. It dried down a mostly transfer-resistant finish, but if I drank anything, I did get some transfer on my glass, though there was so much pigment that it still lasted for a good five hours on me and was non-drying.
The new formula is described as “liquefied pigments with infinite matte color saturation for lasting, weightless wear.” It’s supposed to have “full coverage in one swipe” that “dries down instantly” for “smudge-resistant, carefree wear.” The formula has a very fluid consistency that is thin, smooth, but not at all watery, and the majority of shades were nearly opaque or opaque in a single layer. The dry down started quickly but was forgiving as I maneuvered around the edges of the lips but remained a bit tacky when I pressed my lips together for over a half hour later, though as long as I did not press my lips together until five minutes post-application, the color did not lift. I have found the wear to be comfortable so far–non-drying–but not the longest-wearing nor the most budge-proof in liquid lipstick, as just sipping water, tea, or coffee caused color to transfer onto my cups. There was plenty of coverage, so it still lasted through drinking but did start to break down noticeably during a meal. Even just touching the color after a half hour of wearing it yielded color on my fingertips. The formula had a soft, vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Get Up Stand Up
NARS Get Up Stand Up Powermatte Lip Pigment ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a bold, bright, pinky-red with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had rich, opaque pigmentation that applied evenly and smoothly across the lips. The consistency was very fluid and felt like there was more product on the applicator than necessary to get full coverage, but it still dried down to a mostly transfer-proof finish quickly. I never felt like it fully set, and if I drank or ate, color came off noticeably, but it did feel more flexible on. The formula lasted for six hours well and was non-drying.

Light My Fire
NARS Light My Fire Powermatte Lip Pigment ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a medium, orange-red with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied fairly evenly, but it did not seem to go on as smoothly as other shades and emphasized the texture of my lips somewhat. The color wore well for six hours and was non-drying.

I’m liking the look of this formula, Low Rider and Get Up Stand Up are really hot pink shades. 😉
NARS will be at IMATS Torornto but I’m not sure if they will have a discount. Otherwise, I’ll wait for the Sephora VIB sale in the fall.
Here’s hoping they have a discount at IMATS!
Apparently, they did have 20% off last year if you spent X amount. My experience in past years was they didn’t have any so I hope that changes. 😉
Not a fan of ultra matte finishes, but glad these are scoring well for those interested
Here I thought we were done with them for awhile, lol!
It’s too bad Nars stopped being cruelty free. Yes, it is *just* in China. It’s up to each person to decide where their line is, however, it is a shame for the brand to give up ethics for money.
You can always look for dupes to see if there is something by a brand you prefer!
It really is a shame. I love NARS products but I just can’t support animal testing ??
Get Up Stand Up is my favorite from this grouping.
Great pick, Erin!
I really like the look of Light My Fire, but I’m a bit disappointed by the potential transfer issues. I don’t often wear liquid lipsticks because of how drying they can be for me, but the fact that they are usually better at staying put through the day is the main perk.
I was surprised that they had some transfer!
Goodness, but these sure are gorgeous! With the lone *potential* shade Low Rider, I believe I’m up to my eyeballs in bright lipsticks! Get Up, Stand Up is the most beautiful of the 3, though, but I have MAC La Vie En Rouge and UD Catfight, pretty close, no?
Catfight would definitely be a glossier version!
My interest in these is waning. I can’t put words to it exactly as I love matte lips.. but lipsticks bullet mattes, not liquid lipstick mattes. The liquids take on a bit of a lifeless look to me. Just not my preference. I may grab 1 shade for namesake just ’cause.
Possibly how they hug the lips? I find that a matte lipstick (bullet) doesn’t typically emphasize my lines/texture as much as liquid lipsticks can.
The colours are bright and vibrant, but the matte finish does make your lips seem dryer. Hmmm….
I could see that!
I love these colors!!They are all so pretty.
