NARS Killer Shine Lip Gloss
NARS Killer Shine Lip Gloss ($28.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a new, limited edition gloss formula that is supposed to be highly pigmented with a “vinyl-finish.” The glosses were fairly pigmented with high-shine, very glossy finishes with good wear and were comfortable to have on. The formula is lightly to moderately tacky, and there didn’t appear to be an added scent, but I detected a slightly plastic-like scent in the tube/when initially applying but the scent didn’t seem to linger. These have a very tiny, brush-type applicator, which I bet is great for those with thinner lips, but it’s harder to use for me, personally, due to the size of my lips. The formula is neither drying nor hydrating over time.
NARS Fast Life Killer Shine Lip Gloss ($28.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is described as an “iridescent dusty rose.” It’s a medium-dark pink with warm undertones and a heaping dose of fine pink, gold, and beige micro-shimmer. It had mostly opaque color payoff with a smooth formula that applied evenly. The consistency was somewhat tacky over time, though not goopy or uncomfortable to wear. This shade wore for four and a half hours and was neither hydrating nor drying. Anastasia Metallic Rose (-, $16.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Dior Dolly Pink (453) (P, $29.50) is less shimmery (90% similar). Urban Decay Fireball (P, $20.00) is less shimmery, lighter (85% similar). MAC Domestic Diva (LE, $21.00) is brighter, cooler (85% similar). NARS Baby Doll (P, $26.00) is lighter (85% similar). Cle de Peau Flushed (13) (P, $48.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (85% similar). NARS Candy Says (LE, $26.00) is lighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Naked (P, $20.00) is less shimmery, lighter (85% similar). Lancome Magnetic Mauve (04) (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, cooler (80% similar). NARS Provoke Killer Shine Lip Gloss ($28.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is described as a “deep iris-purple.” It’s a muted, medium-dark purple-berry with subtle, warm undertones and fine violet shimmer. It had semi-opaque color coverage that went on fairly evenly, but it could have been a little improved on that front. The texture was light-medium in weight, comfortable to wear with moderate tackiness after an hour of wear. It lasted for four hours in total. Tom Ford Beauty Wet Violet (P, $45.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Giorgio Armani Adrenaline (600) (P, $38.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). NARS Special Forces Killer Shine Lip Gloss ($28.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is described as a “wild strawberry.” It’s a bright, medium-dark red with neutral-to-warm undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. The texture is light-medium in thickness–not heavy or goopy but not thin either–and is very lightly tacky initially but is moderately tacky after a couple of hours of wear. It had mostly opaque color payoff that applied evenly, and the gloss lasted for four and a half hours on me. It was neither drying nor hydrating.

Not usually one for gloss, but Fast Life looks really pretty and easy to wear
It’s a nice one – though I imagine I am drawn to the coverage level + shimmer amount, haha.
Me too Christine! Love that shimmer : )
A couple of readers mentioned the same, but Fast Life reminds me of Revlon Ultra HD Lip Gloss in Rose Quartz. Special Forces is gorgeous but I have MAC Opera already.. I might get the purple one, Provoke, so pretty!
How fun! Will you wear Provoke alone or layered?
Both!!
I thought the same things a few days ago, like a more refined version of Rose Quartz. I like it but it’s too close to get it for me.
Provoke is the one catching my eye the most here. I like Fast life too. But, I have Baby Doll and it looks almost just like it. With dupes, I’m usually saying to myself “it’s lighter, so I’m getting it. lol” But, those look really close. Special Force is nice too. But, I have more than my fair share of red glosses.
Ok, I looked at the side-by-side of Baby Doll and Provoke. There is a small difference. I mostly use Baby Doll to layer. I like the warmth of Provoke.
The question is… after you looked at the side-by-side, did you rule in or out Provoke?!
I meant Baby Doll and Fast Life, sorry! But No! I did not! I like how fast life has a bit more warmth. We will see though. So many nice goodies coming out this year. I’ve already indulged more than I should and my permanent product wishlist is long as well! Provoke is a keeper.
I love that wet lip look! <3 Special Force looks so beautiful on you.
Thank you!
Wow, Fast Life is gorgeous, but almost $30. Nope.
Totally understand!
All three are absolutely beautiful. Fast Life has such a beautiful pearl in it.
Fast Life really does! I wish there were more glosses in similar finishes.
I have got to get that gorgeous purple, Provoke!!! I think it could add life ( and moisture! ) to some of my many purple matte lipsticks.
Fast Life also calls to me, although I do have Domestic Diva, it’ll run out and then what? So I *may* put this one on my now insanely long list!
There ya go 😉
I like the color of Provoke but I’m not sure it’s worth it since the color just looks patchy even though it looks smooth.
Yeah — maybe with a liner?
I should love Provoke, but I don’t. I really, really like Fast Life, though. It’s the one thing I feel I like enough to buy. I try really hard not to buy everything I like, waiting for the things I feel I’d love and use a lot. I think Fast Life fits into that category.
Keep me posted on whether you try Fast Life or not 😀
Fast Life is beautiful!
It is!
Special Force is calling me, but given that I’m not a huge gloss person, I think I’ll be passing. I’m glad to see that there are quite a few drugstore dupes – I’ll definitely be checking those out!
Fast Life and Provoke are so beautiful! I just can’t get over the shimmer in Fast Life. I don’t know which one to choose lol
I must agree that this gloss is a winner. I bought it before Christmas @ Sephora and wear it nearly every day. It is beautiful. Fast Life is a lovely color with great staying power for a lip gloss. You can wear it with just a light swipe for color or pack it on for more drama. While the price was a little steep, it is worth every penny.
I wish they did more glosses like Fast Life!
