NARS Bijoux Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Bijoux
NARS Bijoux 16-Pan Eyeshadow Palette ($59.00 for 0.48 oz.) is a new, limited edition holiday release that is the brand’s “biggest” palette yet. The palette contained 10 more shimmery shades and six more matte shades, so it was shimmer heavy. Three of the shimmers were high-sparkle and better suited for someone who likes to apply their sparkly shades with a fingertip and/or with an adhesive base/spray as they could give fallout. The majority of the eyeshadows were semi-opaque to opaque, blendable, and lasted an average of eight hours on me.

Under Your Skin
Under Your Skin is a very light taupe with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The consistency was almost cream-like, dense and a little thicker, but it picked up readily with a dry brush and applied evenly to bare skin. It had rich pigmentation that stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview
$19.00/0.04 oz. - $475.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "rich, high-impact color" that is "lightweight" and has "increased blendability." Like most larger ranges, there are winners and losers, and some of how they perform can be related to the type of finish. The mattes are soft, slightly dusty in the pans (or not at all) with medium to opaque, often buildable, color coverage. The satin and metallics tend to be smoother, more blendable, and more pigmented with less effort; NARS does the these lower shimmer finishes particularly well, which just looks "melted" on the skin as they lay down so smoothly and have a great shine.
Most shades applied better on my lid than swatched on my arm, which has been something seen across NARS' eyeshadows for years and didn't change with the recent update to their powder eyeshadow formula. On average, they lasted between seven and nine hours on me without primer. They did apply well over primer and stayed on well for 14 hours with minimal fading.
Worth noting: the updated formula and packaging resulted in a product decrease from 0.07 oz. per pan to 0.04 oz. The single eyeshadows received a more noticeable price drop (from $24 to $19) but the duo eyeshadows could be priced better (from $36 to $35).

Under Your Skin
LELimited Edition. $19.00.
Devotion
Devotion is a bright, medium-dark copper with strong, warm orange undertones and lighter flecks of gold and copper sparkle throughout. The base was more translucent, so the semi-opaque coverage was definitely coming from the amount of sparkle in this shade.
There was fallout when working with it dry, so I would recommend using it with a dampened brush and/or an adhesive base (like a setting spray) to help keep it in place over time and minimize fallout when initially applying it, too. It wore well for eight hours with some fallout over time.

Fuel the Fire
Fuel the Fire is a sparkling, darker reddish-copper with flecks of lighter gold and pink sparkle throughout. The base seemed more translucent, and it was chocked full of sparkle/shimmer, which was where most of the opacity came from.
There was some slip and glide in the formula, which helped more of the product apply onto the lid with little fallout, especially when applied with a fingertip, but there was some fallout over time. It stayed on decently for eight hours with noticeable fallout over time–a lot less than you’d expect but enough that I think fixing it would be preferred!

Do It Again
Do It Again is a bright, yellowy pale gold with warm undertones and a metallic finish. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out well. The texture was soft, almost cream-like, and a little thicker, but it wasn’t too firmly-pressed into the pan, so it still picked up readily with a dry brush. It wore nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

Do It Again
LELimited Edition. $19.00.
Limelight
Limelight is a light-medium copper base with a heavy dose of sparkle that shifted from warmer pink to peach to yellowy gold. It seemed like a weaker multichrome, and it is the same type of shift I’ve seen from a few brands this holiday season that seem to lean toward making multichromes more mainstream.
The texture was incredibly cream-like and almost left a dent behind when pressed with a fingertip as a result, and this added slip made it best applied with a firm, flat brush or a fingertip to press it firmly against the lid. It had opaque pigmentation and applied similarly dry as well as wet, though it was smoother in thickness when applied with a fingertip. It stayed on well for eight hours with light fallout over time.

Pandemonium
Pandemonium is a light-medium, pinky-purple with warm undertones and flecks of sparkle over a more frosted finish. It had a drier, stiffer texture that was difficult to pick up product with using a dry brush. I’d recommend using a dampened brush, which improved adhesion, opacity, and evenness during application. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that lasted decently for seven and a half hours on me.

It wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Thrill Seeker
LELimited Edition. $19.00.
Dirty Deeds
Dirty Deeds is a muted, medium-dark rosy mauve with soft, warm undertones and a matte finish. It applied darker than it appeared in the pan, and it seemed to turn a little warmer, too. The texture was soft, smooth, and blendable without being too dry or too thin. It had opaque color coverage that stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

On Fire
LELimited Edition. $19.00.
Get Hot
Get Hot is a slightly muted, medium-dark pink-red with a semi-matte finish. It had rich color coverage with a smooth, lightly emollient texture that had some glide and no powderiness, but it felt a touch firmer in the pan than most of the brand’s matte eyeshadows do so a heavier hand might be necessary. It wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Get Hot
LELimited Edition. $19.00.
Midnight Rider
Midnight Rider is deep forest green with subtle, warm undertones and cooler, fine emerald green pearl throughout. The eyeshadow had intense color payoff paired with a smooth consistency that wasn’t too firmly nor too loosely-pressed into the pan, so it wasn’t powdery but didn’t require a heavy hand to pick up. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

This is a probable buy. It has some stunning and interesting shades, yet still looks very wearable. Is it too close to my beloved, well used PML Midnight Sun? Possibly?
I too thought of Midnight Sun when I saw this. Of course no Astral Blitz shades, but still. I get the vibe.
Can we all just admire the photography skills and the beauty of the pictures in this post?! <3
Thank you, Erin!
I look at posts of products I am not even interested in just for the eye candy macro goodness!
Right?
I just got the other NARS palette that just came out and it’s wonderful. Seems NARS picked up when UD dropped the ball..
I was just thinking this! It’s shocking! And I am loving the Climax palette
This is a very beautiful palette, and indeed the swatches look great. However, I was wondering, how come you rarely post eye looks anymore for the products you review? With the exception of Pat McGrath, Dior, Tom Ford, and all your Sydney Grace palettes, there doesn’t seem to be as many photos anymore. You are still one of the most trusted, if not the most trusted beauty blogger however, I really miss your eye looks which is what I look forward to the most when trying to decide whether to purchase a product or not. Swatches are great, but they are not enough for me to see how a product looks in real life. 😔

My dog passed away earlier this year, and for awhile, I would get teary pretty much every day at random, so I was only applying eye makeup halfway on my lid and upward (so I was still testing, it just looked really weird). I was able to get some looks in for awhile, but I hurt my back a couple of weeks ago, so I haven’t been able to put on eye makeup as precisely due to not being able to sit in the position as comfortably.
Hi Christine
Sorry to hear about your dog passing away. Hope your back is better soon
Tina
Thanks, Tina! Here’s hoping! LOL, I spend all my “back” energy in taking photos/swatches – trying to stay moving but not overdo it on anything that feels like straining my back (leaning over does it, which is what I do while taking photos/swatches, plus a slight twist/odd positioning) for at least another week.
Ooohh, I think I may pick this one up! I’ve only used one Nars eyeshadow palette before and felt like it was just ok. I am in major love with their foundations, though!
A whopper palette from Nars and thank you for reviewing this one Christine. There are several shades I liked and I had dupes for them. It leans a little too red/orange for me overall. For a change, the names of the shades are decent too.
A really good palette overall.
this color story is RIGHT up my alley, WOW. I might actually get this.
This is such an interesting color story compared to what NARS usually does! I doubt I would pick this up due to the fact that I likely have dupes of every shade, but I am kinda happily surprised that NARS made something like this in terms of color and quality.
This palette is gorgeous! As soon as I saw the first review of it on YouTube, I knew I had to have it! I was going to get the Climax palette, which sold out at all the retailers but is still available on NARS website, last I looked anyway. But as soon as I saw this palette, I decided I would get this instead. Does anyone know if retailers are going to stock this palette? Actually, I’d like to know if the Dior holiday quints will be available in stores. I’m interested in the Field of Dreams palette.
I’m honestly not sure!
is anyone else not seeing a dupe tab for the shade do it again?
if i didn’t have an over abundance of eyeshadow palettes this would def be added into my collection. alas, it’s not to be.
Fixed, sorry!
thank you for all you do christine. i admire your work greatly and an occasional mistake is understandable. there’s no need to be sorry.
Thank you, Joy!!
A nice cohesive palette, but a pass for me. I am typically not a fan of Nars shimmer shades.
Not for me, but it is a very pretty palette, with an interesting colour story. For me it’s a bit too heavy on the warmer coppers, over all it’s too warm. I already have my fair share of warm palettes.
I found one shade I really liked and put a dupe on my WL. How I managed to keep my WL’s before joining this community is a bit of a mystery. Probably it was the same way as I now write down authors and book titles on a piece of paper that happen to sit on my desk.
Some of the shadows really tempt me but there are too many “not for me “ colours. I’m glad most of them scored well though (it’s that NARS soft spot)
This is very pretty. I’ve never tried Nars Eyeshadows before, but this is making me want to. I especially love Midnight Rider. It is stunning and a color. I can see lots of eye looks out of this palette. The packaging is a little strange, but I think I could get over that for such a high performing palette.
I don’t know what it is about NARS palettes, maybe the way the shades are laid out together, or the shapes of the pans or whatever, but they just look boring from afar. I wouldn’t rush out to buy this just looking at it. But I have the Wanted palette because I looked at the shades together and seperately and noticed I liked all of them. So now I see this one that didn’t look at all remarkable on the website but analysing each individual shades they look stunning, I love orange, red, pinky tones and sparkles, there’s a neutral tone, perfect. And I have red hair so the greens would be amazing. It takes me working a little bit to realise I think I want this in my life. The Wanted palette after all is one of my favourites, maybe this will be too!
I read your review of this palette the same day it was posted and ordered it from the NARS website the next morning, October 27. FedEx just delivered it. Besides Beautylish orders, that is the fastest I’ve ever received an order! I haven’t touched it yet, but I will when getting ready this evening for my night shift. The shades look beautiful, as does the packaging. I’m looking so forward to using it. ☺
WOW! That is impressive!!
Here’s the umpteenth palette where I really like the right side (dark jewel tones) and definitely don’t need and can dupe silly the left (the beiges.)
