NARS Bahama, Do Me Baby, Lonely Heart Velvet Matte Lip Pencils Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Bahama
NARS Bahama Velvet Matte Lip Pencil ($27.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a muted, medium plum with warm, rosy undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had good pigmentation that applied evenly across the lips and never tugged or dragged. The consistency was thin but lightweight and not clingy, which made it more comfortable to wear, though it was not hydrating. The color stayed on the lips well for four and a half hours.
The formula is supposed to be “long-lasting” with “rich” and “seamless color.” The texture has a more velvety feel: smooth, thinner but glides on easily, and doesn’t have a lot of wetness/creaminess. The pigmentation varied from shade to shade with most shades having semi-opaque coverage. They were easy to apply along the lips and comfortable to apply, as they did not tug. The formula lasted anywhere from three hours to six hours, and some shades were somewhat drying and others were non-drying.

Do Me Baby
NARS Do Me Baby Velvet Matte Lip Pencil ($27.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a deep plum with neutral-to-warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. The color coverage was nearly opaque, but it would take some building to get full coverage. The consistency was smooth, velvety, and easy to glide across the lips comfortably. This shade wore well for five hours, was non-drying, and stained my lips ever-so-slightly. There was a touch of color that pulled into my lip lines over time, though.

Lonely Heart
NARS Lonely Heart Velvet Matte Lip Pencil ($27.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a deep brown with cooler undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had medium, buildable color coverage that applied decently, but it did not apply as smoothly nor as evenly as many other shades in the range. I was surprised, as some of the deeper shades are the best-applying. The texture also appeared less forgiving on my lips and more prone to emphasizing the natural texture of them. This shade wore nicely for six hours but had some color that pulled into lip lines over time, while the formula was slightly drying after four hours of wear.

I used Bahama for a while and I loved it! It’s not exactly the top colours for me but the formula is so lovely!
Glad you liked it when you had it!
Not too crazy about the name, but Do Me Baby is a nice color
It is a pretty hue!
I love them all, especially Bahama. I own a few of these but do see myself buying more.
Which shades do you own, Ginny?
Actually only Cruella from the Velvets and Rikugien, Hyde Park, and Bansar from the Satins. I could use some more velvets!
I don’t know that I have ever been THIS happy and grateful for dupes as I’m feeling right now! Having Ciaté Pin Up and MAC Del Rio, with UD Nonsense next month spares me in a huge way!
Sad about Lonely Heart applying the way it did, but I suppose my tube of MAC Deep Love comes close enough to somewhat dupe it?
Deep Love is close enough, I think!
NARS Bahama was a bit hard to find, I almost thought it’s being discontinued before the Spring 2017 Collection repromote and I had to settle for Maybelline Nude Nuance (it’s a good dupe btw).
Also, there was a period of time when Sex Machine and Train Bleu can’t be found anywhere and people start assuming it’s being discontinued.
Sadly when it comes to their blushes, once they’re gone… they’re gone.
Gosh, I wish they will repromote Mounia and Silvana one day! Or make Day Dream permanent just like they did with some of the previous limited editions of their Velvet Matte Lip Pencil.
I wonder what made production slow to replenish those particular shades! Normally, you’d see a reformulation or repackaging, so they’d sell through old stock and not replenish until they did the full launch of newness.
Do Me Baby has been a favorite. It looks like it would be a nice warm color for those of us that are pale and cool. Warm but not too warm.
