Maybelline ColorSensational Vivids Lip Colors Reviews, Photos, Swatches (Part 1)
Pink Pop
Maybelline Pink Pop ColorSensational Vivids Lip Color ($7.99 for 0.15 oz.) is a light-medium pink with cool, blue undertones and a soft, pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied fairly evenly, but there was a bit of color that sunk into my deeper lip lines. The texture was lightweight, thin but not clingy, and had a fair amount of slip. The lipstick stayed on well for four hours on me and was lightly moisturizing.
I’ve reviewed this formula (and I believe the majority of shades released) before, but it’s one of my favorite drugstore lipstick formulas and wanted to update swatches. I was dismayed to see how many shades were discontinued, though, as there are only seven in the current range. The Vivids formula is supposed to have “vibrant color” and a hydrating feel. I repurchased the seven shades still available, and I re-tested them (and re-swatched/photographed!). Overall, the Vivids formula has a very smooth, creamy consistency that has moderate slip and a luminous sheen and semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation. They felt hydrating to me over time and were comfortable to wear. They have a moderate, sweet, floral scent but no discernible taste.

Shocking Coral
Maybelline Shocking Coral ColorSensational Vivids Lip Color ($7.99 for 0.15 oz.) is a vibrant, medium coral-red with warm undertones and a creamy finish. It was just shy of being truly full coverage, but the color applied evenly and smoothly to the lips with just a smidgen of streaking along the edges (which were not noticeable from a normal viewing distance due to the brightness of the color itself). The texture was lightweight with moderate slip, so it didn’t tug when applied directly from the tube and was comfortable to wear. The formula was hydrating over the five and a half hours the color lasted.

Vivid Rose
Maybelline Vivid Rose ColorSensational Vivids Lip Color ($7.99 for 0.15 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark fuchsia pink with cool undertones and a soft sheen. It had good pigmentation that yielded even coverage on the lips, though it took a second layer to get to full coverage. The lipstick felt smooth going on, creamy enough to glide without tugging but not slide around when worn. It lasted for five hours on me and was hydrating.

Some oldies but goodies! I have 3 of the above: Fuchsia Flash, Shocking Coral, and Vivid Rose. I’m shocked that Shocking Coral is now an actual coral instead of a very bright, coral-pink like the OG version!
Time to bring these out along with my old Nyx Mattes. I had forgotten how much I loved both once I got caught up in MAC, UD and HE lipsticks.
They are perfect for summer wear, too, with the sheen!
Is there a scent?
They have a moderate, sweet, floral scent but no discernible taste.
Not my colors, but glad these got good scores!
I wish they had more shades!
Your recent Maybelline reviews said they had a different scent. Do these still have the same scent as before, or it something the brand is updating across its lip products?
These are the same scent as my previous versions, and they are more floral, whereas the Vivid Hot Lacquers were just a vague, sweet scent to me.
I own vivid rose. And it’s my all time favourite summer shade!!! It’s so creamy, and pretty opaque on me!! I love it 😀
These are fantastic pinky shades that rate well and don’t break the budget. These are not my sort of shades, but it’s good to see a DS brand rate well.
Ahh I remember when I getting more into makeup, I bought Shocking Coral because of your review. It was a fave of mine for over a year, still is. I just don’t wear it as much anymore since my collection’s grown since then.
Nice to see that the formula is still great!
OH, I kinda like them all!
