Makeup Geek Bandwagon Eyeshadow ($6.00 for 0.064 oz.) is a muted, medium taupe brown with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff that was buildable to mostly opaque coverage on the lid. The consistency was soft, thin and a bit dusty, but it blended well and didn’t fade quickly. It lasted for eight hours on me. Makeup Geek Brownie Points (P, $6.00) is darker (95% similar). Wet 'n' Wild VI Purple #6 (PiP, ) is lighter (95% similar). Makeup Geek Faux Fur Eyeshadow ($6.00 for 0.064 oz.) is a medium-dark taupe with neutral-to-cool undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was opaque, while the texture was blendable and maintained its intensity on the lid–a smidgen dusty overall–but soft and finely-milled. It applied well to bare skin, and it wore for eight hours. Marc Jacobs Beauty Bearish (LE, ) is darker (95% similar). NABLA Cosmetics Dogma (PiP, $8.00) is darker (95% similar). Makeup Geek Cabin Fever Eyeshadow ($6.00 for 0.064 oz.) is a medium-dark reddish-brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. The consistency was very soft, but it was dustier and had more excess product kicked up in the pan. The color was buildable on the lid but more prone to sheering out, so it was hard to get and keep opaque coverage without a primer in place. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours on me. bareMinerals Good Spirits (LE, )(100% similar). Colour Pop Beast (LE, $4.50) is more shimmery (95% similar). Make Up For Ever M600 Pink Brown (DC, $21.00) is more muted (95% similar). Coloured Raine Moments (P, $6.99) is cooler (95% similar). Makeup Geek Early Bird Eyeshadow ($6.00 for 0.064 oz.) is a bright, medium orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had great pigmentation, but the texture was powdery, despite being soft to the touch. It blended well on the skin, but it had a tendency to sheer out and look somewhat faded on bare skin, so this is another shade that I would only use with a primer. It lasted for seven hours before fading noticeably. NABLA Cosmetics Honey (PiP, $8.00) is lighter, cooler (95% similar). MAC Rule (P, $17.00) is lighter (90% similar). Viseart Curcumin (Dark Matte #7) (PiP, ) is brighter (95% similar). Make Up For Ever M726 Sienna (DC, $21.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). Formula Overview

Makeup Geek Eyeshadow ($6.00 for 0.064 oz.) is a powder formula that is supposed to be “highly pigmented.” They come in a variety of finishes and shades, and the range has some winners but more than a few misses, too, so your mileage may vary from shade to shade. The formula tends to be softer and a little more powdery/dusty as they are not as firmly pressed into their pans, but they aren’t typically crumbly or so loose that they are prone to breakage. I find the more shimmery shades to be the most consistent in pigmentation, blendability, and wear, while the more neutral-hued matte shades are often finely milled, blendable, and easy to use. The brighter pops of color, both shimmer and more matte, can run the gamut on quality. Some shades are better built-up than immediately opaque, which can suit some application styles better. The wear tends to fall between seven and eight hours as some shades are more prone to fading as a result of the dustier texture. (Note: this applies to their standard powder formula, not their Foiled line, which is a different formulation.)

Duped out again! With MAC Rule, No Me Queda Màs and too many other similar shades. Will say this, No Me Queda Màs has become the major star of my matte brown shades! Love it so much because it’s not blah.

I like Bandwagon and Faux Fur. I do have MAC Quarry, so maybe I don’t need these right now. I have hit pan on Quarry, though. I really like colours like this for the crease and as transitions. They are on my wishlist so I don’t forget about them.

(Whips out my 252 palette), I don’t own anything like Early Bird….. I’m surprised I don’t on a burnt orange like this one, I also had Chickadee on my wishlist but they are similar. 😉

They look really nice but other than Early Bird, maybe, I’ve got whacks of dupes for the rest of these shades in my MUF Artist shadows & Kryolan singles, all of which I really love. Unlikely I’ll be picking any of these up.

I think it is about time that the brands dished up some really decent mattes. After all the shimmer of the past few years, some really good mattes are overdue. Good on you MUG.
