MAC Zenith/Can You Chill Dual-Ended Powerpoint Eye Pencil Review & Swatches
Zenith/Can You Chill
MAC Zenith/Can You Chill Powerpoint Eye Pencil (Dual-Ended) ($20.00 for 0.04 oz.) contains a sparkling gray paired with a purplish, navy blue. If you’re someone who likes almost faded color on the lash line, this formula might work, but it just didn’t deliver even coverage, lacked pigmentation (and it was supposed to be pigmented!), and was not the most comfortable formula to apply–not to the point of tugging painfully but not that emollient either. The only good thing was that they didn’t wear terribly.

Zenith
Zenith is a light-medium gray with subtle, warmer undertones and flecks of silver and gold micro-sparkle. The consistency didn’t feel overly textured, despite being am ore sparkly shade, and instead, felt waxier with light glide. It had sheer, uneven coverage that applied poorly, as it did not build up well (it was almost worse built up!) and created a thick, uneven layer of product and color. It stayed on for seven hours before thinning/fading, which is always a weird “upside” to a product that goes on so poorly.

Can You Chill
Can You Chill is a muted, deeper navy blue with cooler undertones and flecks of violet micro-shimmer throughout. It had semi-sheer color coverage that applied unevenly in a single layer. I was able to build it up to semi-opaque coverage, but it had a more faded, washed-out look to it when applied because it just didn’t layer that well. The texture had light glide, though it felt waxy to the point where it was like more wax depositing than color at times. It lasted for eight hours before fading visibly on me.

This one I had my eye on. Thanks Christine! Money saved๐๐ผ
That’s too bad as I really like both shades. I can’t afford anything that tugs on my lids!!
These suck! I’m genuinely surprised that MAC let this get past R&D. That navy-blurple could’ve been great for my blue-green eye color. Oh well.
There is so much good makeup out there for lower price points than this offering. Why put out crap? Honestly, there just isnโt room for this sort of sub par product in peopleโs lives.
To think that the first dupe of Zenith was also a MAC product, Little Black Bow – which was so much more pigmented and received a B+ rating, to this poor, badly formulated eye product is quite sad. The original was so much better. I just don’t know how a brand can release something as shoddy as this.
An F?? Yikes. I just received this one! It swatched okay on my hand, but now I’ll be holding my breath the first time I use it!
Do you think you can let us know how it works out for you?
I really like this one and hope there’s a batch problem.
Darn it! I’m still looking for a replacement for UD Dragon Smoke…
SO glad I didnโt give in to the impulse buy because of the interesting colors and waited for your review. This is shockingly bad! Shame on you, MAC.
Very disappointed in this duo. It is the one product out of the sea of products I had my eye on. Grrrr.
What the “F”??? MAC should be able to crank out perfect liners – they’ve been in this business for so long that they should have pencil liners down pat!
What a pity!
I really like this pairing, the colours are beautiful, but the swatches looks just like the grades they got. I hope it’s a batch problem, as MAC should know how to make pencils, though they probably rest each batch. Oh, well, I can hope, can’t I. ๐
What Wednesday said. This has been such a disappointing year for us liner nerds. I had dupes, but some died a natural death or were discontinued. As Gen notes, virtually all brands have a vastly superior dupe in their rear view mirrors, so thereโs really no excuse. I suspect most will agree w/Janine. Money saved.
Yikes! I can’t deal with unpigmented, uneven eyeliners!!
